Skinwalkers (2006)
9/10
Fantastic adventure
23 August 2007
Most people would say you can check your brain at the door before you watch this film, but I beg to differ. This is genuinely intelligent stuff here folks. Based on the legend of skinwalkers, a native American folklore, the film is about surviving, be it humans or skinwalkers, they both want to live and claim their rights to exist. Granted, there is not much in the line of plot , but these would be totally gratuitous in this escapist piece. We are given a fantastic adventure, special effects, and a story that keeps you in your seat for the entire time. The acting of Rhona Mitra alone makes this film well worth its 90 minutes. I don't want to say too much about it, because the experience is just too much fun. So, do yourself a favor. Watch this film without being so hard on yourself. Yes, you are allowed to laugh. There can be humor in modern day horror films in America.

Horror movie
18 April 2007
I saw this movie and I have to say that it is scary and I understand why the MPAA is all up in arms over its ratings. This type of movie can get into the mind of some people and lag behind as a memory. Violent and gore scenes , to a young viewer can shock and traumatize and this movie can do that if you are not careful to the plot. I am not comparing this movie to faces of death or anything like that but, man, it does have some nasty stuff. Elisha Cuthbert does a good job with her character and really takes the model for a ride. I think I enjoyed this movie thoroughly and I bet many people will. I did not understand all of the symbolism but hey, it's a movie and it entertains. I think that the killer really went out of his way to do the things he does. Although his has plenty of gore, the reshoots will put even more in it, which will make the movie in better.

Eyes II
21 March 2007
This movies is basically in the category of what you see is what you get. The Hills Have Eyes II is what you would expect of course it's not going to be an Oscar nominated film, it's just pure entertainment which you can just lose yourself in for 90 minutes. This movie is about a group of soldiers who find themselves against mutated hillbillies. In the desert and on their last day of training they find themselves fighting these hillbillies. This movie is full of blood and guts and is extremely violent. The Hills have Eyes II is a wonderful gory film that will keep you wanting to close your eyes. But keep watching and enjoy the movie. Make sure to watch for all that gore flying through.

Warning: Spoilers
Dead's Man Shoes

Revenge, let's go and get them. avenging his brother's death, he terrorizes the thugs and does to them what they did to his sibling. You have to sometimes! you have to make good of bad. This movie has plenty of bad. Shane Meadows does a good job in this movie putting Thugs and like thugs they are always up to no good. The heavy drug and alcohol use are only some of the ways in which this movie takes you into a realm of lawlessness and irresponsability. the one man story of revenge makes you proud to be on the honorable side, which in this case seems to be the one that wins out at the end. a drunken tale of hanging out, in this movie you see a lot of it. let's see if anyone can stop from getting killed by Richard (Paddy Considine).

Babel (I) (2006)
babel

if a butterfly flaps its wings in the rain forest, it will, if nothing else, set off an infinite chain reaction in the minds of Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and his creative collaborator. Guillermo Arriaga. The Director and screeenwriter have a thing for a causal connection, which , in this film, they literally track to the ends of the Earth. "Babel" which won the best director award at Cannes, ties together four seemingly unconnected stories that eventually are revealed to be linked to one an other. As its title implies. the movie is about the difficulty of human communication. the stories unfold in four countries and in five languages, English, arabic, Spanish, Japanese and sign, but the language is far from the principal barrier , instead, the film explores the ways in which cultural assumptions and biases tend to obscure reality even when reality is plain, and the way our perceived differences keep us from finding a human connection to one another.

It is really a Jeepers Creepers
6 February 2007
Because this movie is so darn scary Jack Taggart, Sr. gets my vote as the most heroic action star ever. I don't know who else could defeat the Creeper played by Jonathan Breck, but Taggart (John Wise) comes to the rescue each and every time. This movie is set in a nicely thought out place, where everyone would be in a heightened sense of fear, the middle of nowhere. Who wouldn't get scared or panicky driving home from a game in the middle of nowhere. The way the athletes were getting picked off one by one made you think twice before trying out for the team. Also, the fact that The Creeper comes out every 23 years brings out a superstitious element. Finally, the fact that there is no one there to protect and defend against The Creeper, leaves you to think that if you were in that situation you would be in a scary position.

The middle of nowhere, wow, thinks of that for a second. Driving home from a game, just chilling in the bus, thinking about the cheerleader around you, and boom, bow right there The creeper comes. Perhaps there could be other scary and frightening situations, but for this story, the middle of nowhere seems just right. Victor Salva could have chosen a more remote location, say Alaska? But the Boonies give this movie that added sense of desperation, despair and feeling of alone. Out there is nothing to save you from the Creeper and Victor Salva does a good job.

The Fact that The Creeper comes out every 23 years gives it a superstitious nature that only enhances the scariness of the movie. Imagine this, big ole scary flying killing living breathing thing and it comes out every couple of decades. Why, couple of decades? Well, who knows? Some say It's a native American legend of rebirth and destruction. Whatever it is, the fact of its continuous onslaught of killing, without any responsibility gives it that extra added touch of invincible. Somehow, you wonder if it can be stopped, and that is what makes it scary.

I don't know about you but with no one out there to protect and help you defend, man, you really are in a bad place. This movie gives you the feeling of being stuck out there in the middle of nowhere like a bunch of sitting ducks waiting to get picked off by The Creeper. Someone quick cry for help. Well either that or call up Jack Taggart, Sr.

Jack Taggert, Sr. has no fear, and it shows in the movie. I will rank him up with all the other Horror, action heroes out there. Maybe the priest, from The Exorcist, but he couldn't come to the rescue on this one. Something about this movies gave me the jeepers creepers and I think that it is worthy of its title. This movie is a great scary movie and it will go down as one of the scariest ones ever. This movie is not for the light of heart so if your not a horror movie buff, then careful with this one. You never know when you will need a Jack Taggart Sr. after you watch this one.

Toy Story (1995)

Toy Story
5 February 2007
Toy Story is a good movie. The main characters are Woody the cowboy and Buzz Light-year the space ranger. This movie has a lot of excitement and is a great movie to watch for people of all ages. Tom Hanks does an excellent job with Woody's character and Tim Allen is a real good Buzz. The animators of toy story do a super job with all of the characters and make the movies a pleasant see. In my younger days I used to wonder if toys could really talk. This movie brings out that imagination to life and creates a magical world in which toys are alive. This movie does a really good job in exploring the fantasy and imagination of children and their toys. All of the characters fit really well and this movie should be a classic for many years to come. I particularly like the Neighbors kid with the other toys. I like how the movie shows the difference between Andy and his toys and the neighbor's boy with his. Everything about this movie is entertaining.

Batman (1989)

Batman
5 February 2007
Batman is a good movie. Bruce Wayne is the main character who doubles as Batman. In this movie Bruce Wayne's character is pitted against the joker who is played by Jack Nicholson. As the joker tries to create havoc on Gotham city, batman is right there to counter his efforts. The costumes and special effects in this movie are wonderful and take you to the world of Gotham City. I personally like this movie because I am a big fan of the Batman character. I think people of all ages can sit down and enjoy this movie. The Joker really has a hard time and cannot match up against Batman's skill and strength. Kim Basinger does a super job as Vicky Vale and Director Tim Burton does an excellent piece of work bringing about this imaginary world to actuality. The script is very good and keeps me glued to what comes next.
