Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)
Pointless & Sad
Could have been a full hour shorter, too long action scenes that make the viewer zone out, weak and uninteresting charecters. All the usual sins of a big budget hollywood movie of the last century.
They could have made the female lead somebody who compliments Indiana. And let indiana be old. Something really cool could have grown from that.
After over 1.5 hours of watching I hoped in the end the bad guys would try to bring the dial to Fuhrer. Who'd be expecting it somewhere in south america. Then they'd fly into the giant butt hole in the sky in an attempt to get back to 40's, but ending up somewhere in the Mesozoic Era. That would have justified everything that happened before.
Koirat eivät käytä housuja (2019)
Interesting poster and a name - usually a bad omen
I had a hunch that the only criticism one might read about this movie is about the "BDSM culture" and how this movie fails to portray it. It's as much about BDSM culture as Lolita is about pedophilia - newsflash, it's not about it. It's also not a documentary. It's art. Chill out.
That being said. The movie is very minimal and I personally loved it. Almost every frame has a meaning and it's not a movie to casually eyeball over. The duet of Krista Kosonen and Pekka Strang is magnificent. Great film making and acting over here, I truly appreciate it.
So if you're interested in some nordic noir, some scandinavian weirdness, the poster and the name tickles you... give this film a chance.
Bliss (2019)
Could have been so much more
Awesome soundtrack. Because of that I'll give this 6/10 instead of 4/10.
Kind of superficial, predictable, made me cringe few times. But overall I enjoyed the movie. I get what's it like to create and suffer from creator's block - and that's what this movie was all about. The music in the movie was fantastic, visuals were great, acting good.
I wish that at least the ending would have been even more... explosive.
Satanic Panic (2019)
Could have gone so much further, but...
Satanic panic had its moments. Few pretty funny/well made/well acted, and so many absolutely cringey bad or boring to death. Clearly the movie got worse the longer it went.
One thing I wonder: where did the flying vulva demon disappear and why didn't it come back?
Back Roads (2018)
A Cringefest
A close relative of The Room (2003). The plot made very little sense, the dialogue was awkward and nonsensical at times, the reactions the characters portrayed was sometimes so cringey I think I once squeezed out a tear out of will shame. The directing was amateurish, editing almost random and the score a little odd.
To top it all, it's long as the year of famine.
Alex Pettyfier was okay as the anguished, stone-faced man and he is handsome as hell. I don't understand how they managed to lure in Juliette Lewis and Robert Patrick. I hope this gets quietly buried into the oblivion of fundamentally awful movies whilst not ruining anybody's career.
Dead End (2003)
Unknown yet entertaining horror
I had not heard about this movie before just know, whilst browsing through movies under the title new french extermity - a genre which I like a thought I knew something about. Dead End had everything I wished for: horror, some early 2000's vibes, suprisingly good acting at some points and even witty humor. But this wasn't just a fun movie to forget fifteen minutes later, this is something a tiny bit better. Some of the most horrific and the funniest parts will stuck to you.
