Martin Kraft was born in Buenos Aires in 1978. He studied high school with a focus on human sciences. The passion for reading the classics of universal literature, took him to the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature of the University of Buenos Aires where he finally decided to study the career of Social Anthropology with orientation in Visual Arts. At the same time, he began studying photography where he quickly discovered his interest in documentarism.
Throughout his career he participated in the Visual Anthropology Program of the University of Buenos Aires and in the Permanent Program of Research, Extension and Development in Indigenous Communities of Argentina where he made several photographic and film projects related to memory, identity and history of different social groups.
He has made numerous photography exhibits in galleries and cultural centers, and presentations of his film projects.
In 2010, he held a photography and critical memory workshop in an indigenous community known as the Wikina Wos in the Chaco forest region of Argentina. It was there that he began to intensely investigate the oral history of this ethnic group. As a result, he obtained scholarships and prizes from the National Fund for the Arts to produce a documentary film called "Na Sam" (About Us).
He has done photography workshops with photographers such as David Allan Harvey (Magnum) looking to continue improving his search for visual expression.
In 2018, ¨Na Sam¨, an independent and low-budget documentary, was selected as a finalist for the best documentary film at the Berlin Motion Picture Festival and continues with its international presentations.
He discovered that visual work is indispensable when investigating and communicating little-known realities, and he adopted a methodology of participatory and inclusive ethnographic work from the points of view of the groups with which he works.
The results obtained from his visual research, allowed him to create a foundation such as Originarios.org, based in the City of Buenos Aires, which is dedicated to carrying out development projects with native communities in Argentina.
In 2018, together with Francois Toussant, he founded 3Roots.Studio where he has been able to apply his vast experience in visual and ethnographic research to carry out communication campaigns for companies and international organizations that intend to participate in projects that generate positive changes in society.
