An Artistic Comedy
15 May 2024
This show is an artwork that will make you laugh, immerse you in diverse romantic narratives, and help you discover many multi-talented artists such as Anthony Ramos, an accomplished actor, producer, and singer born in New York mainly popular for having starred in A Star is Born, a broadway musical, as well as for having released an EP and albums that helped him find his footing as a pop singer ans well as setting his sights on pop music. The series is hilarious, fascinating, and captivating, a mixture of humour, drama, and comedy led by DeWanda Wise, an established actress in the cinematic field, and an acclaimed artist that has starred in "Fatherhood," and this year's "Imaginary." This Spike Lee's production is an insightful adaptation of his 1986 feature production that will inspire countless showrunners and film-makers. I recommend this series to viewers looking to be entertainmed with an artistic television production with musical performances, and funny sequences that elevate the quality of the show.

A Worthy Inspiring Artistic Adaptation
14 May 2024
This series, upon its release, astounded both fans of League of Legends, an extremely popular game, and viewers with an appreciation for animation. Over the course of nine episodes, you will be absorbed by what I think is an adaptation that many will praise for many years to come. It is not only a piece of art in and of itself, but also a source of inspiration for what future animes can ressemble. The creators truly elevated their game and applied their skillset in a way that brought out the kind of project that we aren't accustomed to see on the small screen. Be prepared to be glued on your chairs witnessing every episode and anticipating subsequents ones with impatience. It is impressive, engaging, and entertaining to the point of astonishing the most critical viewers. I recommend watching this tv show if you have played LOL, or if you are curious to discover an adaptation that will significantly influence future projects originating from the gaming sector.

Tenet (2020)

An impressive film
1 March 2024
It is quite rare that you stumble upon a production that is imaginative, impressive and enjoyable in every way. It may have a complex intrigue for a person who may not be an adept of such a narration, but the viewer is rewarded on multiple occasion by sequences, and a dialogue that provide a clear explanation of the plot's progression. I recommend watching this film numerous times if you really want to grasp the narrative and comprehend the film's title, "Tenet." I watched it in theaters a few years back, and again recently, and realized a lot more about this visually dazzling puzzle and time-bending mission that the characters embark on. The cast is talented, outstanding, captivating, and dynamic in the action scenes. The screenplay is ambitious and is written in way that provide aesthetic elements to the final product. It is an inspiring film, and a masterpiece for viewers that are accustomed to Nolan's style. If you have enjoyed "Inception," "Source Code" or "The Adam Project," you will have blast.

An Experience to Be Witnessed
28 January 2024
After having seen the trailer of this show after a long time, I think that anyone who has the intent to jump into this show that I would describe as "an experience to be witnessed" is in it to have a great time. It does require patience from the viewers as the story slowly unfolds, in the form of a crescendo, throughtout the first season to reach a gigantic high point that will unimaginably astound you without a question. If you are a person that enjoys action, great acting, and outstanding sets, you will find yourself immersed into what I do consider to be one of the most riveting universes inspired by multiple spheres such as espionnage, and politics. You will recognize actors such as D. B. Woodside, & Fola Akingbola, accompanied by Gabriel Basso, and Luciane Buchanan, both leading the cast of this piece of art that loyally showcases the American political system, as well as everything behind the scenes. Unfortunately, because of its lack of coherence, I think the writers of this production missed the mark as they failed to transform this series into the likes of "Person of Interest," that I thoroughly enjoyed because of the depth of the represented subject & "The X-Files," a series that remains widely viewed despite having been released in 1993 mainly due to its comprehensive, and extensive story that grabs you throughout. For anyone who enjoys the genre, "The Night Agent" will thrill you to the maximum, yet will leave you confused by its finale.

Be Inspired Cinematically
30 December 2023
This is a movie made with class, and care. As I was seeing it, I couldn't stop but chuckle and giggle at its multiple jokes, as well as at the absurdity of situations we stumble upon. Amazingly acted by Tiffany, Rose, & Salma, this film showcases the ability of movies that are capable of entertaining us to the point of having us burst of laughter despite their moderate success. Tiffany, an actress that I have seen for the first time on "The Afterparty," a show that I recommend to anyone who enjoys funny detective shows with a twist, demonstrates why she is a comic working both in comedy and cinema. Salma also displays and put at the forefront the experience gained in playing in the humourous "30 Rock." Lastly, Rose, an actress that I hadn't yet known prior to seeing "Lady Business" contributes in making this film a true comedy by displaying her expertise. The cinematography, the costumes, the exaggerated actions, and the banter both the characters and actors have are all excellent, splendid, finely designed, and deeply felt. The story is original, unique, and will inspire viewers who are after wealth, be their own boss, live their passion, and realize their dreams.

A Totally New Perspective of The Mario Universe
30 December 2023
Given the fact that I have played many Mario games, I was naturally drawn to see this film. I was astounded by the quality of this adaptation which is now amongst the better ones out there. Not having seen this movie in theaters, I am convinced, must have hampered my overall enjoyment. Yet, I found it visually impressive, the action scenes magnificent, and the soundtrack majestic. The intrigue was monotonous, but the creators compensated this flaw by providing viewers with what I think was a spectacular 3D experience and an epitome of entertainment. A dream come true for gamers, the ideal feature for families, and a fantastic reference for nostalgics seeking for a different way to be immersed in the Mario universe. It is cinematic, appealing, imaginative, creative, and the artistry is well enough to have you sit on the edge of your seat expecting future sequences in this flick that I guarantee is going to be recalled as an outstanding celebration of this popular video game series.

A Classic Well Worth Your Time
10 November 2023
Now this is what I call a film made with style. It is quite rare these days to have productions rely on basic elements such as the music, and the story in order to elevate what is being presented. I will begin by saying that recognizing Robert Redford's performance as "believable" would be an understatement. The man is worth $200 million by the time of writing this review, and must have had way less than that when the film was made, yet in this production, he exudes the allure of the very character he portrays; that is, someone whose fortune allows him to pay himself more than a luxurious life. In addition, Indecent Proposal's director also has to be applauded as he created one of those rare movies that I think are not as acclaimed both by the critics & the public. Similarly to "Original Sin," to be able to appreciate the quality of this piece of work, one must have the ability to look past the facade as both have the ability to have you glued on your seat expecting every moments with impatience. Do yourself a favor by watching to this piece of Art that I am convinced you will not forget as it is gripping, well made, and contains everything that the average viewer would consider a classic.

An Astonishing Directorial Debut
3 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
After only thirty-eight minutes into this film, one can tell that this is going to be a touching and deep story about love. It showcases the strength of a mother, her love for her child and her willingness to go through hardship while making sacrifices and difficult decisions for the sole purpose of retrieving her family's identity. Despite having only two main characters; that is, Inez de la Paz, the mother, and Terry, the son, A. V. Rockwell, director and writer of this project, have written a story that keeps us guessing throughout the first hour about what is coming next with no moment of boredom. Known as a versatile artist, Teyana Taylor shines in the role of Inez by relying on her charisma and provides an incredible performance by showcasing her acting chops. She demonstrates her character's vulnerability under harsh circumstances by counting on a wide range of emotions Inez goes through in this narrative where love above all else is central. Aaron Kingsley and Aven Courtney, both of which play the role of Terry, are incredible supporting casts as they elevate Teyana's ability to glow as their care giver. They each significantly contribute in transforming this entire movie with their respective interpretation of Inez's son at two different time periods. With a near perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, and a fair 7.0 on IMDb, it is fair to say that both the critics and the audience thoroughly enjoyed what they saw. After a hour and twenty five minutes, I can easily state that I have not seen the time pass by. It is a beautiful story with multiple point of views, all of which make this tale worth telling and most importantly for us viewers, worth watching, at least up until now. And yes, by the time you get to the end, you will not regret having stuck with this production for a hour and fifty seven minutes as everything unfolds progressively to bring viewers to a beautiful and astounding twist that will take you aback.

Person of Interest (2011–2016)

A Series Ahead of its Time
22 October 2023
I can say with ultimate certainty that "Person of Interest" is one of those shows that not only entertains, but also educates meanwhile disclosing hints of what the next five decades have in store for humans. Right from the get go, this series offer the viewers a sens of what existence, as we know it, has become. It does it very subtly as we are very quickly immersed into an universe that showcases the extent in which technology has transformed our lives. From a cinematic standpoint, this show has everything the average person would find enjoyable. It is full of action, contains great sequences throughout, and is extremely well acted. Both Jim Caveziel and Michael Emerson carry the first half of the show along side Taraji P. Henson before being joined by Amy Acker, and Sarah Shahi in later seasons. The show, and the quality of the screenplay also do improve as we progress due to multiple compelling elements of the story being added, many of which twist the direction of the main intrigue. And I say that because what differentiates this production from the large majority of detective series, at least in later seasons, is that each characters, both villains and heros, begin to perceive the grand scheme of things; that is, their vision of what surrounds them, given their situation, goes beyond solely going after the culprit, or getting away from the authorities. Their awareness of reality and the interpretation of their cases are significantly affected by different forces, and other mysterious characters. "If-then-else," that many consider to be the most accomplished chapter of this sci-fi will have you glued on your seat without blinking an eye. And expect to be equally amazed by the numerous other brief-films from the 103 found in this series.

A puzzle made for YA
7 September 2023
I have to admit that I was blown away by the pilot. The whole episode did a great job at presenting an intrigue that naturally raises your curiosity to the point where you want to keep watching in order to figure out what is going to happen next. The diverse cast is what truly makes this worthwhile. Each actor especially Priyanka Chopra, known from multiple Bollywood projects prior to accepting this role, elevate the entire show to new heights. It is quite obvious that if this show had a better production value, and if they worked on the cinematography, this series would have been received by way more fans of cinema and television because it got everything you would want to see on the screen such tons of action, love stories, and a sense of mystery that keeps you on the edge of your sit at all times. Make this your next watch if you enjoy characters such as Jack Bauer played by Keith Sutherland from the series "24" doing everything he can to protect America from terror, or Nikita, a trained spy, interpreted by Maggie Q, who finds herself forced to infiltrate the organization that trained her to defend her convictions, or if you appreciate the experience of figuring out a complicated puzzle.

For Fans of the Genre
25 August 2023
By merely glancing at the title, we already know what this series is going to talk about. Similarly to projects such as "Who Killed Sara," a thriller from Mexico, we quickly get an idea of the plot right from the get go. And we are then given a chance to gradually dive into the story as hints are revealed for us to find the answer to the question being asked to the viewer. They certainly did a great job selling us this series with a impressive trailer, one that captivated our interest, literally not giving us any choice but to watch it upon being released. With roughly 4 episodes remaining, I can confidently say that the action scenes and the mystery behind the main character is what will grab your attention. The main actress, Evin Ahmad, is no Zoe Saldana, nor Charlize Theron, but you can tell that she is on a great physical condition, despite her movements not being as natural as the stars previously mentioned when comes the time to perform the fighting choerographies. The mystery behind her character, Erin Carter, will remind you of projects "In From The Cold," another American TV series set in Spain. You should therefore expect impressive sets, beautiful locations, and the kind of atmosphere that can only be found in southern Europe. For all these reasons, you should try the first couple of episodes to determine if this is really for you. And if characters such as Jenny Franklin, and Cataleya are an indications of action heros worth rooting for, Erin Carter will be added to your list of favorites after this.

Laughing while solving a mysterious puzzle
22 August 2023
Quite frankly, the creators knew exactly what they were doing with this series. It is very a creative whodunit that relies on the flashback mechanism to tell its story in a way that few TV shows out there are capable of doing. What makes it easy to watch is the fact that we giggle on multiple occasions pretty much in every single episode. Its two features; that is, being a murder mystery and being extremely funny, placed at at the forefront of this project is what pushes me to recognize the writers' ingenuity. Plus, they nailed the character development to the tee by immersing us in each character's universe throughout the entire run of the first season while simultaneously forcing us play the detective along side Tiffany Haddish's character, Danner, as we try to figure out the mystery behind the murder. Do not go into this series thinking that you will be given a chance to enjoy the quality of techniques and aspects such as the cinematography, the music, the sets, or the landscape. The Afterparty's wealth lies in its substance. The jokes on the last episodes are as hilarious as those found on the pilot. The evolution of the story, the subtleties of the many events happening in each episode, and the multiple layers of each characters' personalities is what makes this an addictive watch. Jump head first into this if you enjoy solving puzzles on the screen in the form of a well fleshed out intrigue.

Fatal Seduction (2023– )

Among South Africa's Epiphanies
19 August 2023
It is quite clear after having watched the first few episodes that there is a bright future for African productions. The creators, producers, and production designers have done an awesome job in showing us some of the most beautiful locations of South Africa. And this is how a country, or a region should be portrayed for the entire globe to see. What impressed me the most was the series' cinematography, which surprisingly is comparable to many successful Hollywood movies, and shows. The story is delicately brought out, the presentation creative, and the actor's performances, many of which showcase Africa's talent, will make the average viewers curious enough to discover what Africa has to bring to the table. As far as critics go, I believe they are being a bit tough on this. After all, Fatal Seduction is directly inspired by Dark Desire, a Mexican erotic thriller that has according to critics missed the mark for two consecutive seasons. If this South African production turned out to be a masterpiece, it would have been an astounding and outstanding project. So, watch this for what it truly is; that is, a ateamy series, a complete, comprehensive and beautifully told story, pure entertainment, the portrayal of black culture, and most importantly the revelation of what most love stories have gone and continues to go through since the beginning of time.

Warrior (2019–2023)

Totally Unexpected
19 August 2023
In an era where not that many Asians films and TV shows are dubbed for the western world to appreciate, it is good to see projects such as "Warrior" made in America that shines a light on Asian actors, many of which, in this case, are not that known to the average American viewer. Taking place in San Francisco, we really get a chance to admire the many environments expressively selected by the production designers to immerse us completely in this fictional California of the late 1800s. The music, the cinematography, and the acting is on part with shows such as Westworld, a piece of work with a first season that literally blew the entire world away upon being release back in 2016. "Warrior" provides a similar vibe. It is far from being a sci-fi, however, it does resemble the famous Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy's popular show, mainly because of the effort put in the costume and set designs. The fight scenes are impeccable, and the stunts team does an impressive job, showcasing moves that would have you thinking about some of the greatest Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan action sequences. Despite lacking actors with a huge star power, I think this is a project that deserves way more visibility. Cinemax should have put way more marketing effort in order to ensure that this would be viewed by the largest public. The ideal word to define this piece of art would be a "gift" for anyone out there who enjoys TV. After only the first couple of episodes, and a glance at the second season to see if it would be worth continuing that far, it is obvious that anybody who finds pleasure in watching television will have a blast and an unforgettable experience.

Drags you into the story
7 August 2023
Waited 4 episodes to really be immersed for a long period of time into this. The goal was to give myself a chance to appreciate the gift we've been provided by numerous A-List actors contributing to the creation of this piece of work, which by the way is enjoyable and well-regarded by many despite the mixed reviews. Many spectators have been told stories from a similar angle, but that view here remains exciting as you tackle a more confusing yet well-laced plot with female leads throughout, each one confidently capturing our attention whenever they appear. Halfway through it, we can't tell if this sense of urgency as we discover more and more what is happening will remain at the level that it is now, but given the subject matter covered, the budget, and the pool of talent with which they were able to bring this to the screen, it will be difficult to miss the landing, mainly because of the series' solid foundation.

Ratched (2020)
Visuals -> Approved . Story & Substance -> Disapprove
4 August 2023
Impressive visuals all round. There aren't many series out there that can push the accuracy of what is expected in terms of costumes, and sets this far. And it is precisely because of this reason I believe that this show captured the interests of so many viewers who gave it a chance, and kept watching because they found it pleasant to sit back and be immersed in this 1940s period piece. The actors have done a tremendous job in bringing every character alive. Each one of them showcased their acting chops and they do deserve the credit because the substance of the show, let's talk a out it now, is what is lacking here. As spectators, we want to be taken aback, and be surprised to the point of finding ourselves amazed by what is presented, especially because it is a thriller, a genre mainly known to sustain tension, and a constant sense of impending doom. I am on episode 5 so far, and I yet have to see myself sitting on the edge of my sit waiting for a big reveal. It is to be determined if they will be able to pull it off by the time we arrive at the finale. But based on the reviews, both by critics and fans, I am keeping my expectations low storywise. Usually when a narrative is initiated, and the pilot has not succeeded to have us glued on our chairs, it becomes very tough for the writers to turn the tables over and finish the story favourably. I remain hopeful that they might at least provide us with a sense of relief for having invested hours into this. Give it a chance, this a 50/50 people; that is, not everyone will find what they came in for.

Jack Ryan (2018–2023)

You Will Have A Blast
17 July 2023
Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan replaced the hole that 24 left in me when I finished it. Both shows are action-packed, and discuss subject matters that would have the average viewer on the edge of their seat most of the time. Similarly to 24, This series has given us over the course of 5 years spectacle after spectacle. Way too often, we find ourselves in situations where the adrenaline rush is at its highest as we travel, navigate and get transported across the globe superficially through the small screen. That is by the way an aspect of this show that I think has been an improvement from 24. Frankly, there is nothing more exciting than seeing actors from different countries speaking foreign languages, behaving in ways that aren't common to us average Americans, and showcasing their know-how, and talent for the whole planet to admire. The interconnectedness of the world, and the existence of large streaming platforms such as Netflix and Amazon have truly bonified the content that we get to see on top of complexifying the kind of stories that we are capable of telling. I could not be more happy to live in 2023 where we can be entertained by these kind of TV shows, the kinds of which could not even be imagined only 30 years ago. Give this show a chance. It will blow your mind, especially the 3 first seasons, and you will literally forget that you are watching television.

Fake Profile (2023– )

One of those that easily pleases the eye.
1 June 2023
The story is simple. I will give you that but so are the multiple movies we've seen since the 60s both in cinema and television. Something they did well was to rely on Carolina Miranda's most iconic role on "Who killed Sara?" in which she played a supporting character that helped her rise to fame, and be known internationally due to the show's success. She does the exact same thing here. She elegantly carries the story forward as the main character facing an unimaginable fate. It is emotional, thought-provoking, and allows you to stay well put as you admire a plot written for fans who thoroughly enjoys thrillers with a twist. It is yet to be determined how it will all end. I am only on episode 6 that I am watching at this very moment. It has as of writing this an unforgettable soundtrack, a scenery that only those who appreciate cinematography will enjoy, and a poetic vibe that fills the room. I will give it a fair 6.8 out of 10. Colombia have produced yet another decent show following many if their recent successes. We may have here yet another great source for international productions that one could compare to what was and is made in America.

Gold Standard for TV
1 June 2023
I was glued on the screen for the entire run of this show. Watching it, was just easy. I think Elizabeth Olsen performed perfectly. So did the remainder of the cast who truly represented each of the characters very well. Obviously, this being based on a true story, it must have been challenging to rewrite a story that had happened in the past, and which had already been retold by "hulu." HBO, known for the quality of their production did not miss the mark here. They told this story in the best possible way by taking into account the many time period where important moments took place, and elevated the whole thing by counting on Elizabeth's stellar display of what was a very dark character. Do watch it, as you will enjoy every second.

A Challenging Reimagination
10 May 2023
They certainly had big boots to fill here because "Fatal Attraction," with Michael Douglas, upon being released in 1987, became at the time one of the pivotal movies that inspired the erotic thrillers' phenomenon that went on for the next two decades or so, offering us amazing neo-noirs such as "Basic Instinct" & "Original Sin," and here we are 36 years later having a TV series based on it. This tells us a lot about the kind of impact the OG 80s film has had on Hollywood and the industry in general. Obviously having the expansion treatment to fit the requirements of a totally different format, it must have been very difficult for the writers to reimagine what was a shorter story and flesh it out in a way that is capable of hitting the desired spot for core fans, while simultaneously living up to the public's expectation, which by the way has been set extremely high by this amazing trailer. Jump into this if you want, but don't expect anything out of the ordinary, because not only are the storylines and characters way too complex to follow and understand, but the series also takes ages to hit its strides, and is quite honestly not as memorable, nor will it be as timeless as the original work it is based on.

Power Book II: Ghost: Sacrifice (2023)
Season 3, Episode 8
10/10
An absolute masterful episode.
5 May 2023
I could see this episode coming up a while ago. It was quite obvious that it would be huge. I mean the way everything unfolded only increased my expectation for what could the climax be. To truly enjoy this, however, one must have seen the original power series to become familiar with some of the characters and thereby understand their deepest motivations, the dynamics of their relationships, and also get to know how we got to this point in the story. This is not to say that this show cannot be enjoyed in its own right. All I am trying to say is simply to get to feel a certain way throughout the experience of viewing this specific episode, it is necessary that you have been present throughout the entire character development process in prior episodes and series as well as been there when the overaching story arcs started being developped. Best episode of the whole series so far, hands down.

The Greeks Came in On Netflix with a Bang
24 March 2023
Powerful! That's the only word that comes to mind when thinking about this show. Mainly known for their cuisine, and the beauty of their country, here the Greeks have, unlike what the large majority might expect, hit hard with this incredible piece of art. Their entry on the largest streaming platform in the world certainly did not go by unoticed nor dissapoint as the series easily found its way to the top 10 list for tv shows in many countries around the globe. The production designer of this series should definitely be applauded for the selection of the many sets, and locations, all of which were breathtakingly outstanding. Also, the actors knew exactly what they were doing when came the time to perform. They may be unknown for the large majority of us, but that did not prevent them from shining to the best of their ability for the whole planet to see. Additionally, knowing that this show told the story of a musician, I was not expecting anything less from the soundtrack. Saying that the composers nailed it in that area would be a understatement. So go ahead, watch it, watch it, watch it, for the actors who played wonderfully, for the plot that grips you from start to finish, as well as for the lanscapes that showcase Greece's natural appeal. You will not be deceived.

Extremely Surprised
16 March 2023
It is very hard for me to write this and claim that this was not a very good episode. It had everything you would want from a fantasy show like this. And by that I mean action, great acting, outstanding cinematography, and an immersive music and atmosphere. I usually wouldnt write a review for a show that I do not consider to be among my favorites, however this episode changed my mind. Amazon must certainly be spending a lot of money on this, because It is extremely impressive to see how visually beautiful they have made this show look. Now if you are in it for the story, you certainly would not be having a blast because I am not going to lie, this series lacks in that area. However if you are watching this because of things such as costumes, visual effects, the action, and the cast, then you would be absolutely satisfied with what it has to offer. While watching this episode, at times I was questioning myself: am I watching an action packed House of the Dragon episode or what? Because yes, it did deliver, and I can't wait to see how this is all going to play out by the time we reach the finale.

It is very good
15 February 2023
Honestly, I am three episodes in and I already applaud the brilliant work done on this series. I absolutely adore the cinematography, the music, the cast, and the atmosphere of the late 1800s created here. The costume are on so on point that I cannot miss a chance to praise how beautiful they are. I should also note that they could not have chosen a better actress for the lead role. I think that she is not only stunning, but she also got incredible acting chops. As for the other two lead actors, they play their respective roles to perfection. One can only root for them as they all take part in investigating the multiple cases being presented. It is a show that reminds me a lot of "A Private Affair" with Aura Garrido and Jean Reno. The only difference is that instead of being serialized, this is a procedural. This format may not be suitable for everyone, but once you get the hang of it, these very inspired stories and cases are an absolute blast to watch for fans of this genre. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys investigation series accompanied by a great cast, and impecable writing.

The Last of Us: Endure and Survive (2023)
Season 1, Episode 5
9/10
A touching and sad mini-journey that I thoroughly enjoyed.
11 February 2023
Needless to say that you are going to be moved in every way possible during the course of this one hour episode. In the beginning, the story is told from the point of view of two new characters to whom we get quickly attached. You will understand every single one of the tough decisions they have had to make just to endure and survive this world as the title says It so well. "Endure and Survive," by the way, is a title that reminds us that the world of The Last of Us is one in which in order to stay alive, one must be ready to endure hardships, cruelty, and at times, lots of sadness, and we get a taste of these three things in this one single episode packed with action. Be ready to be shocked, blown away, and I think we should say it at the very least, entertained beyond your wildest expectations.
