Agatha: Coven of Chaos has added a Broadway star to its cast. Patti LuPone is joining the WandaVision spin-off series, per Deadline. Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, Aubrey Plaza, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, and Sasheer Zamata star in the Disney+ series. Emma Caulfield Ford is expected to reprise her role of Dottie.
The show will revolve around Agatha Harkness (Hahn). a witch from Salem, Massachusetts, who was accused of practicing dark magic by members of her own coven during the time of the Salem witch trials. Some 300 years later, Agatha picked up on the presence of chaos magic created by Wanda Maximoff in the idyllic Westview community. By the end of the WandaVision series, Agatha had been stripped of her powers and left to live out her life in Westview.

The cast of the WandaVision spinoff continues to impress.
Deadline reported Wednesday that Patti LuPone had conjured up a role on Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
While details are scarce, the outlet teases, “she may be playing a witch.”
Yes, you read that right.
LuPone is a veteran actress and someone who could pull off the role of a witch very well.
LuPone most recently appeared on American Horror Story, Pose, Penny Dreadful, Girls, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
The star is most well-known for her impressive work in musical theater.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos is set to pick up following the events of WandaVision Season 1, which found Kathryn Hahn's villainous alter ego being hexed to the life of Wanda's next-door neighbor for all of eternity.
With the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we're inclined to believe that will change pretty quickly on the spinoff.

Never underestimate the power of Patti LuPone. The Broadway legend who recently shocked the world by dropping her membership with the Actor's Equity union has been announced as the most recent cast member of the "WandaVision" spin-off, "Agatha: Coven of Chaos" for Disney+ (via Deadline). "WandaVision" was a huge hit for the streamer, and proved that Marvel TV shows had the power to be just as popular and well-scripted as the multi-million dollar blockbuster feature films.
Kathryn Hahn dazzled viewers with her portrayal of the witch Agatha Harkness, even nabbing an Emmy win for the song "Agatha All Along," written by "Frozen" songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. The character was so popular that it inspired Marvel to greenlight the spin-off series, making it the first live-action treatment of a Marvel Comics character who does not have their own comic book series. Given how popular the "Agatha All Along" song was for the series,...

Agatha Harkness’ coven keeps getting bigger and better: Showbiz legend Patti LuPone has joined the cast of Disney+’s WandaVision spinoff Agatha: Coven of Chaos, our sister site Deadline reports. There’s no word yet on who LuPone is playing, but Deadline reports “she may be playing a witch.” (Gosh, we hope so.)
Agatha: Coven of Chaos will see Kathryn Hahn reprising her WandaVision role as nosy neighbor-turned-evil witch Agatha Harkness. (The role earned Hahn an Emmy nomination last year.) In WandaVision‘s season finale, Agatha lost the battle to absorb Wanda’s magic, and Wanda indefinitely trapped Agatha in her nosy neighbor “Agnes” persona.

I believe it was Sean Parker who once said, "Reviving a genre isn't cool. You know what's cool? Deconstructing a genre."
Yes, we cinephiles probably throw the word "deconstruction" around a little too casually when talking about genre films that surprised us or defied our expectations. There are, however, times when the term is absolutely applicable. Take "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," a movie that everyone in the world appreciates and enjoys discussing in a calm, rational manner. Rian Johnson's sequel to "The Force Awakens" deliberately takes everything filmgoers know about "Star Wars" and throws it out the window. The goal, as /Film's Jacob Hall once wrote, is not to destroy "Star Wars" but to "challenge you and make you question what 'Star Wars' is and what it can be."
Toying with a genre's tropes is nothing new for Johnson. Heck, it's something he's done in every movie he's directed so far,...

Rian Johnson’s “Knives Out” sequel received a title and a release window on Monday. “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” will hit Netflix “this holiday season.”
Johnson made the announcement in a Twitter thread on Monday, expressing his excitement to continue his Daniel Craig-fronted franchise in the vein of Agatha Christie’s mystery novels, praising her knack for “stretching the genre conceptually.”
“Something I love about Agatha Christie is how she never tread water creatively. I think there’s a misperception that her books use the same formula over and over, but fans know the opposite is true,” Johnson wrote. “It wasn’t just settings or murder methods, she was constantly stretching the genre conceptually. Under the umbrella of the whodunnit she wrote spy thrillers, proto-slasher horrors, serial killer hunts, gothic romances, psychological character studies, glam travelogues.”
With that, Johnson seemed to indicate that “Glass Onion: A Knives...
