Most of Paul McCartney‘s songs are about love. Paul writing a tune about abuse in the modeling industry is a bit of a surprise. The “Live and Let Die” singer connected the song’s lyrics to the way the music industry treated The Beatles.
Paul McCartney has the experience to write a song about male beauty
In 2020, Paul released McCartney III, the long-awaited sequel to McCartney and McCartney II. The record includes a folk tune called “Pretty Boys.” In the track, Paul compared a group of men to bicycles. Paul has a much more extensive history of singing about attractive women than attractive men. However, surely the cute Beatle would know a thing or two about male beauty! During a 2020 interview with The New York Times, Paul was asked about the origin of “Pretty Boys.”
“I’ve been photographed by many photographers through the years,” he said. “And when you get down to London,...

Throughout their time as a group, The Beatles received praise for the way they pushed musical boundaries with their songs and albums. This has earned them a permanent place in the musical canon. As they were releasing songs, though, it occasionally brought them ridicule. While listening to a new Beatles song, a friend responded with disbelief. He thought it sounded like a joke.
Paul McCartney said friends couldn’t believe the sound of one Beatles song
In 1965, The Beatles released Rubber Soul. The album marked a shift for the band into more introspective, mature songs. When the band played one of the album’s songs, “Michelle,” for a friend, though, he responded with confusion.
“We’d just put out ‘Michelle,’ and I remember one night at the Ad Lib club David Bailey hearing it and saying, ‘You’ve got to be joking — it is tongue in cheek, isn’t it?...

London – A psychedelic eye mosaic commissioned by John Lennon for the swimming pool at his Kenwood home in Surrey in 1965 leads Bonhams’ Rock, Pop & Film sale on Wednesday 29 November at Knightsbridge, London.
Claire Tole-Moir, Bonhams Head of Popular Culture in London, commented: “This monumental mosaic, commissioned by John Lennon is a striking example of the Beatle’s artistic vision and influences. Lennon’s Kenwood home in the English countryside was a place of respite from all the public attention he experienced during the height of The Beatles’ popularity. It’s said Lennon would spend idle hours near the swimming pool and that the mosaic could even be seen from his favoured ‘sunroom’ at the top of the house. With Kenwood still under private ownership, it is very rare to see anything from when John Lennon lived there, making the ‘Psychedelic Eye’ mosaic an incredibly important artefact of Beatles history.”

London, July 4 (Ians) Toyota says it has made a technological breakthrough that will allow it to halve the weight, size and cost of batteries, in what could herald a major advance for electric vehicles, a media report said.
The world’s second largest carmaker was already pursuing a plan to roll out cars with advanced solid-state batteries, which offer benefits compared with liquid-based batteries, by 2025, The Guardian reported.
On Tuesday, the Japanese company said it had simplified production of the material used to make them, hailing the discovery as a significant leap forward that could dramatically cut charging times and increase driving range, the report said.
“For both our liquid and our solid-state batteries, we are aiming to drastically change the situation where current batteries are too big, heavy and expensive,” said Keiji Kaita, President of the Japanese auto firm’s research and development centre for carbon neutrality.

“Oh! Darling” was released in 1969 on Abbey Road, the last album The Beatles recorded. Written and sung by Paul McCartney, the song was a nod to a more ‘50s sound, despite all the experimental, futuristic work the band had produced in recent years. It’s one of McCartney’s best-performed songs. But John felt he could have done it better.

McCartney shared the rock-n-roll ballad he’d written, and it was well-received. “The chord structure is very nice,” said George Harrison of the song. “It’s typical of a 1955-type song.”

The other day, while re-watching the awful, but wildly entertaining The Faculty, I noticed something: geeky characters love photography. Peter Parker is not the only nerdy high schooler who likes to snap, snap, snap. There are loads of other characters, in movies, that are just as geeky and photo-obsessed as him. There are a bunch of movies out there about famous photographers, but the ones on this list aren’t hip like Thomas, a.k.a. David Bailey in Blow Up. They’re straight up outcasts, nerds and geeks who love to take pictures of random things. Here are eight geeky movie characters who

Take a look at new images of actress Keira Knightley ("The Nutcracker and the Four Realms") in the November 2018 issue of "Elle" (Us) magazine, photographed by David Bailey:
"I was meant to be named 'Kiera', after a Russian ice skater who was on the TV one day," said Knightley. "My dad fancied her and nicked her name for me.
"But it was my mum who went to register my birth, and she accidentally spelled 'ei' instead of 'ie' because my mum's crap at spelling.
"Apparently, when she came back he said: 'What The Fuck? You’ve spelt her name wrong!'
"What were they going to do, though? Once it’s on the piece of paper, it’s on the piece of paper. And that’s me. A spelling error..."

A new feature documentary will use unseen archive and access to material from John Lennon’s estate to relay the untold story behind his classic song “Imagine,” and the album of the same name.
“John & Yoko: Above Us Only Sky” has been commissioned by U.K. broadcaster Channel 4 and will air later this year. Producers Eagle Rock have secured previously unheard audio including the first demo of “Imagine,” as well as never-heard-before interviews with one-time Beatle Lennon. Previously unseen footage will show him and Yoko working together in London.
“I feel in the big picture the fact that John and I met was to do this song,” Yoko says in her interview in the film.
Other voices in the documentary include David Bailey, the photographer who famously captured the couple in a 1971 photograph that ended up on the cover of Vogue. John’s eldest son, Julian, is also part of the film.

Twiggy, Joan Collins and Paul McCartney reminisce with the Alfie actor about a decade of smiley hippies and grumpy people in bowler hats
The enduring mystery of what Michael Caine is thinking and feeling remains intact during his watchable, if somewhat exasperating docu-reminiscence of 1960s swinging London. It certainly doesn’t say anything revealing or new about the man itself. With many images of smiley hippies and apoplectic people in bowler hats, the film is narrated by Caine in his inimitably measured and inscrutably deadpan style: the script is evidently the work of Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais whose 60s TV classic The Likely Lads sadly goes unmentioned.
David Bailey, Joan Collins, Sandie Shaw, Twiggy and Paul McCartney are interviewed here by Caine, though oddly and disappointingly off camera, their voices the accompaniment to old footage. Caine has said that he didn’t want the audience distracted by these faces all looking shockingly older.

Michael Caine’s career spans across a staggering 65 years. He along with a handful of others, during the sixties, broke down the barriers of the working-class stigma to take the swinging sixties by storm. Caine’s My Generation takes us on a revolutionary journey with poignancy and nostalgia, with the aid of a few friends; audiences join him on a trip down memory lane which transformed the world forever.
With Caine sat in a modern-day studio, firmly placed as narrator, the documentary is sectioned off into three pivotal parts, Something in the Air, I Feel Free and All Was Not as It Seemed. The first focusing on the class divides amongst the medium of entertainment. The introduction and rise of working-class talents that involve just a few iconic faces such as Twiggy, Keith Richards, Marianne Faithfull, Paul McCartney, Vidal Sassoon and David Bailey pop up at every given chance. The...

Hack The Space is the 3rd challenge in the Desperados #CityHack campaign, which has seen 3 opposing teams from 3 of the UK’s trendiest and most cosmopolitan cities go head to head in a battle of ingenuity, creativeness, and inventiveness.
Hack The System initially saw each team have to put together a music video, which not only gave them a chance to show off their production skills, but required them to really encapsulate the feeling and essence of their own locality.
Hack The City saw the teams get out there and see what they could do to create a buzz in the heart of their city. With the aim to promote their own ‘Red’ themed party, the teams set about finding ingenious ways to grab people’s attention and really make an impression.
This latest challenge is the actual hosting of each respective ‘Red’ themed party, and this time the teams...

Bry And Guy. Left, Bryan Ferry; right, Guy Richie. “Haven’t you heard of ‘Bry-agra?’” said one of the guests at last week’s party at Miuccia Prada’s Double Club, in East London. Well, if they hadn’t, they were about to experience a large dose of it at “another very cool Fondazione Prada party,” this time in support of the City of Joy charity. The city’s own cobblestones made up the pop-up space’s floor and a glass roof displayed the night sky as revelers including Madonna’s ex Guy Richie, photographer David Bailey, Armani's royal rep Lady Helen Taylor, Dazed and Confused's Jefferson Hack, music legend Jon Bon Jovi, social fixture Isaac Ferry, and designer Giles Deacon entered the venue through black factory-like double doors. A four-piece Congolese band along with lychee vodka spritzers and raspberry brambles greeted partygoers in the open courtyard, where interior designer Nicky Haslam,...
