When her family takes possession of a new house, something takes possession of Wendy (Amy Carlson). Maybe she shouldn't have gone poking through the previous residents' things and peering at their strange books. It's an unusual, slow process; she seems less and less herself, which will lead even horror viewers familiar with such processes to wonder. Her husband Donald (David Alan Basche), however, quickly becomes convinced of what's happening, and delves into the same book without a moment's hesitation. in search of a remedy.
We know from the outset that things could go very badly wrong here because we've been treated, in the prologue, to a glimpse of what happened to the former owners. Wendy and Donald also happens to have a relative - niece Jami (Mallory Bechtel) - who hosts an online show about the supernatural. It's nice not to have to go through the usual tedious gaslighting preamble but.

It’s a fascinating thing to watch a director’s work evolve over a 10-year period, particularly if the director is a woman moving from her 20s to her 30s, the pressing concerns changing with every year. Marianna Palka debuted in 2008 with her film “Good Dick,” exploring the relationship between a dysfunctional young video-store clerk and a man who rents his porn from her. It’s a darkly comic film obsessed with the desperation of youth and the desire for connection, themes that found its way into her next two films, “I’m the Same” and “Always Worthy.”
But something has shifted in Palka’s work in the past few years, a change marked with 2017’s “Bitch,” about a stay-at-home mom who snaps and begins acting like a rabid dog. This is a film searching to examine the deficiencies of traditional gender dynamics in marriage and family, poking holes in...

Exclusive: Gravitas Ventures has acquired North American rights to Egg, the satire on motherhood helmed by Marianna Palka the premiered this year at the Tribeca Film Festival. Christina Hendricks, Alysia Reiner and Anna Camp star in the comedy, which will now hit theaters January 18 day-and-date with a digital release.
Penned by Risa Mickenberg, the plot centers on fearless conceptual artist Tina (Reiner) and her passive-aggressive feminist husband (Gbenga Akinnagbe), who invite her 8-months-pregnant art school rival (Hendricks) and her power hungry, new money husband (David Alan Basche) to their Bushwick loft. They surprise them with Tina’s new work-in-progress: a radical alternative to motherhood. But when their sensuous, non-traditional surrogate (Camp) arrives, the truth outs, and they all must face their own ridiculous and sometimes heartbreaking shortcomings.
Former Comedy Central president Michele Ganeless, Reiner and Basche are producers.

Setting up a cultural clash between two 40-something college pals, their partners, and a surrogate, Marianna Palka’s black comedy Egg, like her previous horror/comedy Bitch, sets its aim squarely on the patriarchy and the norms of motherhood. Written by Risa Mickenberg and mostly set entirely within the walls of a Brooklyn loft, Egg uses the traditional form of the sitcom to explore the life choices of free spirit artist Tina (Alysia Reiner) and Karen (Christina Hendricks), the wife of a business woman who isn’t as prepared to engage with “motherhood” as a political statement as her friend. Karen’s partner is a sports-obsessed alpha male, Don (David Alan Basche), a real estate developer who’s uncomfortable in this un-gentrified corner of Brooklyn. Tina’s husband Wayne (Gbenga Akinnagbe) is a freelancer comfortable rocking a “patriarchy is a bitch” t-shirt while biking around with Tina.

Filmmaker Marianna Palka has spent the past decade of her career dipping into various genres and finding the space to tell intimate stories in each, from her debut dramatic romance “Good Dick” to last year’s biting midnight offering “Bitch,” and her latest film only continues that trend. “Egg” shows the Scottish actor-director’s continuing ability to ground her films with strong character work and a buoyant sense of humor.
Written by first-time screenwriter Risa Mickenberg, the movie follows a pair of mismatched pals whose conflicting ideas about motherhood screw up an ordinary dinner party in unexpected ways. Starring Christina Hendricks and Alysia Reiner (who also produced the film) as old friends from art school whose paths diverged, the actresses maintain the uneasy chemistry of two people who used to know each other very well, and aren’t quite sure how to rekindle their bond. Tina (Reiner) has stayed in the art world,...

Each year, the All American High School Film Festival selects the best short films from student filmmakers across the country and showcases them for attendees at its annual, New York City-based festival. Moviefone is proud to call itself a partner of the festival, and this year, "The Exes" star David Alan Basche will be a judge and a presenter.

TV Land sure likes The Exes. The cable channel has ordered 12 more episodes for the sitcoms's fourth season which is set to debut on November 5th. The new order brings the season tally to 24 installments.
"Everything we’ve seen from the upcoming season of The Exes is telling us it’s going to be the best one yet,” said TV land president Larry W. Jones. “Last week, we crossed the 50th episode threshold, and we thought – these episodes are So good, let’s keep them going!”
The Exes revolves around a trio of divorced men (David Alan Basche, Donald Faison, and Wayne Knight) who live together in an apartment that's owned by their female friend and attorney (Kristen Johnston). Kelly Stables co-stars and Leah Remini is a recurring guest-star.

Wayne Knight, most known for playing Newman on Seinfeld, was the latest victim of a death hoax on Sunday, after reports surfaced he had died in a car accident.
Wayne Knight Debunks Death Hoax
Sunday morning, a website was set up to mimic the popular celebrity gossip site, TMZ, calling itself ‘TMZ Today’ and published a story claiming that Knight was dead. The hoax maintained that Knight and two other passengers were in a car tat crashed into a tractor-trailer Saturday night near the New York-Pennsylvania border.
Soon after the news broke, Knight took to Twitter to dispel the rumors of his untimely demise, tweeting Sunday morning, “Some of you will be glad to hear this, others strangely disappointed, but…I am alive and well!”

The original programming on TV Land is something of a mixed bag, but it’s an assortment with a common theme, and one that makes a lot of sense. There’s a mid-80s-early-90s throwback feel about all of their shows, though most of them try to give their comedy a nudge into the new era, and The Exes is one of the best examples of the overall attempt.
The ratings have certainly shown that they’ve got their hands on a good theory, and the fact that other networks are kicking out shows that are clearly from the same mold (with some success) further proves that there is a market.
Well, if The Exes is on your list of faves, you’ve got some good news. The show is coming back for at least 12 more episodes.
Catch all the info below, and let me know what you think of the show.

Person of Interest, Season 3, Episode 6, “Mors Praematura”
Written by Dan Sietz
Directed by Helen Shaver
Airs Tuesdays at 10pm Et on CBS
The driving force behind Person of Interest is its greatest strength and its biggest potential weakness. Having an all-knowing Machine at the foreground is, in one breath, a fantastic expositional tool that can push the story forward with ease and cause serious problems in the villain department. What danger can any person pose to a Machine that can predict your actions and easily stop you? None, that’s what. That being said, a show like this has to raise the bar on what a normal person could do to something like The Machine. Person of Interest might be on the way to that.
“Mors Praematura” picks up from last week’s “Razgovor” left off with Shaw (Sarah Shahi) being kidnapped by The Machine conversationalist Root (Amy Acker). For what reason?...

Person of Interest Season 1, Episode 2: ‘Nothing to Hide’
Directed by Fred Toye
Written by Erik Mountain
Airs Tuesdays at 10 P.M. on CBS
When it comes to the owners of the numbers that “The Machine” feeds out to Reese and Finch, Person of Interest does one of two things very well: making you sympathize with this potential victim or hating the guts of the victim/perpetrator. The latter of the two is executed very well in ‘Nothing to Hide’. The number this week belongs to Wayne Kruger (guest star David Alan Basche), the owner of a company that specializes in the personal information of others and posting it on a website known as “Lifetrace”.
Kruger’s rather detestable line of business makes an interesting and disturbing parallel to Finch and Reese’s work with “The Machine”, the very epitome of the term “invasion of privacy”. The notable difference, as Finch himself points out,...

Kristen Johnston's "The Exes" character is dating young in the upcoming "The Hand That Robs the Cradle" episode. That makes sense. After all, what woman wouldn't want to date a younger man -- especially if he looked like "Teen Wolf" star, Tyler Posey?
In the episode airing on Aug. 21, Holly (Johnston) decides to start dating a much younger man. The young fellow (Posey) is a law student -- could this be a legitimate relationship? Meanwhile, Phil (Donald Faison) and Eden (Kelly Stables) evaluate their relationship, and Stuart (David Alan Basche) convinces Haskell (Wayne Knight) to pursue his crush.
After they taped their episode together, Johnston and Posey presented their "top 10" lists for dating a younger man and a mature woman. The video itself is rather entertaining, but you might be too busy for such things. If that is the case, here are the lists (more or less):
