Based on Sanjaya Baru’s 2014 best-selling memoir by the same name, the movie breaks the wall between the Government and the common people. It shows a concealed perspective of the affairs inside the Pmo during the ten-year tenure of the former Pm, Dr. Manmohan Singh.
Veteran Bollywood actor, Anupam Kher is playing the role of Ex Pm Dr. Manmohan Singh whereas Akshaye Khanna would be breaking the fourth wall by essaying the role of his media advisor Sanjaya Baru. According to sources close to the project, "The Indian producer of Trishna, Sunil Bohra has decided to completely re-vamp and re-edit the orginal. Trishna was a colossal flop in the West. Bohra sees a lot of potential in the story. He is re-structuring the film and adding an item song by Huma Qureshi." When contacted Bohra, to his credit, didn't...

There was double trouble this Friday for two of the releases. While Sunil Bohra's controversial bio-pic on porn writer Mastram could not be released in Mumbai and most other centers of Mumbai in the morning, Asshu Trikha's Koyelaanchal faced serious legal trouble when Jharkhand's notorious coal baron and politician Suryadeo Singh's family went to the Ranchi High Court claiming that Singh had been portrayed in a bad light by the film's makers. Trikha, who rushed to Ranchi to hire local legal help to combat the last-minute crisis, says he will fight out the matter in court. "Nowhere in the film have we said that Vinod Khanna's character of Suryabhan Singh is based on Suryadeo Singh. It's the family's conjecture that we've made a film on Suryadeo Singh and that the character has been portrayed in a bad light." Trikha has hired the best legal help in Jharkhand to prevent his film from being banned.

Barely 48 hours before release, Akhilesh Jaiswal's bio-pic on Hindi porn writer Mastram was finally cleared by the Censor Board Of Film Certification (Cbfc) with only two minor cuts. Much relieved producer Sunil Bohra says, "They cleared our film with just two minor cuts, a visual and an audio one." Apparently the Cbfc wanted the word 'badjaat' to be beeped out, which the makers of Mastram happily did. Says the relieved producer, "Until Tuesday we were not being given a censor clearance. I had started wondering if we'd be able to release our film on time! We finally got what we wanted. We were sure we wanted an 'Adults' certificate. We also knew there was nothing sleazy or vulgar about our film." If there is nothing suggestive or vulgar in Mastram why all the provocative tantalizing publicity? Defends Bohra, "Have we shown any nudity or sex in our publicity? We needed to get audiences interested.

The deed is done. Producer Sunil Bohra has acquired the movie rights of author Hussain Zaidi's Headley & I, Mahesh Bhatt's son Rahul Bhatt's account of his unlikely friendship with alleged terror mastermind David Headley.
And if all goes well, a Hollywood star will be playing David Headley in the movie version. Though Bohra is tightlipped about the casting I've learnt from sources close to the enterprising producer that Crowe has already been approached for the needful.
The deal, cracked last week, apparently cost Bohra an amount never paid for in Indian cinema. While refusing to divulge the amount that was paid to Zaidi for the movie-making rights, Bohra said, "I can only say, it is the kind of money never paid by an Indian producer for any movie's rights. I didn't even think twice before paying the amount that Hussain Zaidi asked for. The book is a whammy.

His latest production Aiyyaa was at the receiving end of scathing reviews, will Lstck do anything substantial to pave Anurag’s space with this genre?

One of the top-most American action directors Tom Struthers who co-coordinated the action scenes of Leonardo DiCaprio in Blood Diamond and Inception, Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, Christian Bale in The Dark Knight Raises and Nicolas Cage in The Season Of The Witch is currently in Mumbai training Arjun Rampal and Irrfan Khan for never-before action scenes in Nikhil Advani's D Day. The film is about a ragged bunch of Raw agents who are sent by the Indian government to bring Dawood Ibrahim from Pakistan by road. The action scenes to be shot in Kutch, right next to where Sanjay Leela Bhansali would be shooting his spicy love story Ram Leela, are meant to be raw, edgy, intimately combative and yet sophisticated in the way trained agents fight when they encounter adversaries in unexpected locations. Says a source close to the project, "Nikhil Advani doesn't want the action...

Hansal Mehta’s latest film Shahid, based on the life of slain human rights activist and lawyer Shahid Azmi, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Hansal, who has made films like Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar!! (2000), Chhal (2002), Dus Kahaniyaan (2007) and Woodstock Villa (2008) before, speaks about his career trajectory, his inspiration to make Shahid, and his tough journey with the film:
What is Shahid about?
Shahid is based on the remarkable journey of human rights lawyer / activist Shahid Azmi. It is a very personal account of an inspiring life tragically cut short. As Cameron Bailey of Tiff describes very beautifully on the Tiff website “it marries elements of political thriller, personal biography and romantic tragedy while being a courtroom drama at its core.”
What inspired you to make a film on the life of Shahid Azmi?

After the conquest of Superman in the film Malegaon Ka Superman, film goers...now be ready for Malegaon Ka Spiderman! The twist in the tale is that Malegaon Ka Spiderman will feature Spiderman (played by Safiq Khan) weighing a whopping 109 kgs. The film is being directed by Shaikh Nazir and produced by Sunil Bohra.
When asked about the reason of casting an 'obese' Spiderman, Bohra said that it's their version of the superhero story where Spiderman is an obese man and also the twin brother of Superman. He also added that since Superman did all the heroic acts, Spiderman was forced to stay at home, eat and get fat... which resulted him in being obese! But now, with Superman retiring, Spiderman has to take over the action.
While one schedule of Malegaon Ka Spiderman is over, Bohra plans to release this film by year end.

It's not often that filmmakers want to categorize their film with an adult tag, especially when aiming to make the maximum from the audience. Well, such is not the case with the film Trishna. Freida Pinto's forthcoming film Trishna, directed by Michael Winterbottom, has apparently applied for an 'A' certificate from the censor board. It is learnt that producer Sunil Bohra, contrary to popular opinion, feels that the Censor Board has become highly progressive. Since the film revolves around a love story with a sad ending with sequences that have references to the Kamasutra, the makers have applied for an 'A' Certificate. Trishna is an adaptation of Thomas Hardy's novel, Tess of the d'urbervilles., which opened at Iffi Goa last year. The story of the film starts off as a tale of romance, but later turns into a lustful affair in which Riz's character exploits Trishna (Freida) in the name of love.

Blame it on Vishal Bhardwaj, Neil Nitin Mukesh has opted out of Tigmanshu Dhulia's proposed sequel to Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster (Sbag) because the role of a sadistic husband had already been done by him in Vishal Bhardwaj's Saat Khoon Maaf. Contrary to the impression being given by the producers of Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster, Neil Nitin Mukesh was not "replaced" in the Sbag sequel. "I opted out. I had already played the horny mean husband in Saat Khoon Maaf. Doing it again would have made no sense," explains Neil. To the producer's claim that Irrfan Khan has stepped into the part that Neil was ousted from, Neil sniggers, "Everyone wants to show that the right to choose is his. It doesn't make any difference to me." Neil had in principle, said yes to the role. He explains, "But then on paper the character came out much older.

Hollywood director Michael Winterbottom's fascination with India continues. After shooting the Angelina Jolie starrer A Mighty Heart in and around Pune, Michael has now filmed his latest project Trishna at various locations of India. Trishna stars Freida Pinto (in the title role) who plays a girl who wishes to rise in life despite her humble roots. The film is based on Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles and has Riz Ahmad as Freida's co-star. What's interesting to note is the fact that the film has been co-produced by Anurag Kashyap and Sunil Bohra while the music has been composed by Amit Trivedi. Kashyap, Trivedi and actress Kalki Koechlin also feature in the movie playing themselves. The film has been shot in and around Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and even Mumbai. It's probably never happened before. One film released this week has jostled all the other releases of the week from the theatres on Sunday. According to reports from Fox-Star Studios, their production Force has taken over the shows in certain theatres allotted to Hum Tum Shabana, Chargesheet and Tere Mere Phere. Understandably the producers/directors of the affected films are fuming. Says Sunil Bohra, the producer of Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, "We are not affected. In fact our film has a growth of 40 percent over the weekend. It is the other three films (Hum Tum Shabana, Chargesheet and Tere Mere Phere) which are affected. They had no opening on Friday and no shows in some theatres." Fumes Sagar Ballary, the director of Hum Tum Shabana, "I am glad that Force and John Abraham have appealed to the audiences. But it's sad that Tamil remakes dominate Hindi cinema. Once upon a...
