Hey, "Once Upon A Time" fans. We recently got an official press release from ABC for the upcoming "Once Upon A Time" episode 4 of this current 7th season. The press release includes a brief preview description of some of the things we can expect to see in the new episode. It sounds like we'll see some pretty interesting stuff take place in this one as Tilly tries to wake up from the curse. Victoria tries to stop that from happening. There's some intense flashback scenes and more. To start things off, they let us know that episode 4 is entitled, "Beauty." In their main description, they revealed that it will be Halloween in the new Hyperion Heights town. In light of this fact, Victoria is going to force Ivy to take Lucy out for a trick-or-treat run. So, it doesn't sound like anything too wild will go on with that particular storyline.

When have tabloid rumours been spot on about Doctor Who, and when have they been, er, less accurate?
“Look Who's the Doc's new assistant!” On Tuesday, the Mirror's front page trumpeted an exclusive reveal that Bradley Walsh would be Jodie Whittaker's companion in the new series of Doctor Who.
See related Game Of Thrones season 7 episode 6 questions answered Game Of Thrones season 7 episode 7 review: The Dragon And The Wolf
The one-time Sarah Jane Adventures guest star would be the first companion actor to have hosted a quiz show with the same name as a 1960s serial, but beyond trivia, the report has been fairly well received as far as we can see – Walsh is a decent actor, who's worked with incoming executive producer Chris Chibnall before on Law & Order UK, and a fun screen presence. But given the source, might it all be a load of bobbins?...

Rumplestilskin is easily one of the most fascinating characters on Once Upon a Time. Thanks in large part to actor Robert Caryle's performance, the Dark One has gone through a fascinating journey of up, downs and morally grey periods. Rumple has desired to be a hero, even died a hero's death, but he (for the majority of his life) has been the living embodiment of dark magic and evil.
As of season 5, Rumple has decided to stop wavering. Rumple believes himself to be a villain utterly and complete. He has said as much on multiple occasions. Actions speak louder than words however and here are 6 times in season 5 that Rumplestilskin proved to be the ultimate Once Upon a Time villain.

Fed up of summer blockbusters, and looking for some more diverse films to watch in the month ahead? Here are some recommendations...
If you haven't seen it yet, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation is the kind of film that ruins you for other blockbusters. Handily, it was deployed right at the end of July, right around the time that most of us have had our blocks thoroughly busted. As we've noted around this time in recent years, you might even be feeling a little fatigued with the smashy-bangy of it all.
But the big movies will keep coming through August. Still to come this month, as blockbuster season winds down, are films like Adam Sandler's video game-themed sci-fi comedy Pixels, horror sequel Sinister 2 and reboots galore, in the form of Fantastic Four, Hitman: Agent 47 and The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Goodwin paired a Marni Fall 2014 top with a black floral jacquard skirt from the label's Pre-Fall 2014 collection. She accessorized with a Marni belt, a clutch and Christian Louboutin pumps. Once Upon A Time, Season 3, Episode 14: “The Tower”
Written by Robert Hull
Directed by Ralph Hemecker
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on ABC
Every now and then, Once Upon a Time treats us to a delightfully fear-filled episode. Usually these episodes happen around Halloween, when we are all in the mood for a good scare. However with “The Tower”, the writers decided that Halloween was coming in March this year.
Since Once Upon a Time returned to our screen three weeks ago, the writers have been doing every possible thing to make up for the monstrosity that was the first half of season three. And they have done an exceptional job redeeming themselves. With a cast as big as Once’s though, it’s very hard to keep every single character in the spotlight. This is a common problem in shows with large ensemble casts and those that avoid it,...

This Sunday, Once Upon a Time airs its midseason premiere. I got a chance to preview it and … it is truly terrific. Even for people who would never consider themselves “Oncers.” This episode takes a quality leap forward in almost every way.
It’s the best episode since Season 1′s “Hat Trick,” my favorite, and in fact for entirely different reasons it is equally as good. It moves along at quite a clip, with more twists and turns than I’ve ever seen on the show. It’s entertaining, well-written, engaging, jam-packed, and fun. Almost everyone brought their “A” game (I’m looking at you, Snow’s wig maker and costume designer).
This is the one to check out for anyone who’s considered watching Once but never got around to it, and in fact I recommend it to those of you who’ve watched an episode here and there but never really got it.

Yes, Once-ers, it is almost, almost here. The premiere of Season 3. I’ve seen it, and It. Is. Epic. Plan to squee repeatedly. If you aren’t a loyal watcher of Once Upon a Time and are a little hesitant to jump right in, the lovely people at ABC have two ways to get you up to speed quickly.
One is “Journey to Neverland”, a recap special that will air on ABC Sunday at 7/6c, directly before “Heart of the Truest Believer”, the title of the Season 3 premiere. The other is a very full and complete synopsis of the series to date, in written form, below. You may want to draw a chart.

"Once Upon a Time" got a warm reception at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con. On hand for the panel were Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Josh Dallas, Robert Caryle, Emilie de Ravin, Colin O'Donoghue and Michael Raymond James, along with executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz.
While all got a lot of applause, James' entrance wearing an Angry Birds hat was much appreciated. Apparently, he lost a bet to Dallas.
Highlights of the panel include:
They will run the show with 11 episodes in the fall and 11 episodes in the spring."My favorite kill is coming up in Season 3 ..." -- Parrilla"Peter Pan has a complicated motivation." -- KitsisTinkerbell is going to show up in Neverland. She has a "surprising" connection to someone on the "Once" panel."He's a little bit 'Princess Bride' ... He's a little bit of my friends of home ... In a Halloween-tinged episode, the series goes for the zombie effect. Sympathy for Regina is built and the question of Dr. Whale's true identity is finally solved. In the Enchanted Forest's past, Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) tries to teach Regina (Lana Parrilla) to use magic. She's dead-set, though, on finding a magical way to bring Daniel back from the dead. Convinced that her devotion to Daniel's rebirth is holding her back, Rumple brings in a Doctor (David Anders) from another land to "attempt" to reanimate Daniel with one of Cora's stolen hearts. He is, of course, unable to brig Daniel to life (not that he really tried). Regina then gives up and embraces the dark ways of magic, to Rumple's glee. In Storybrooke's present, Regina is trying not to use magic. But when Dr. ...

Plus, have Emma & Snow finally found a way back to Storybrooke? We've waited for more than a season to find out Dr. Whale's (David Anders) fairy tale persona, and Halloween weekend couldn't have been a more appropriate time for the big reveal. Regina (Lana Parrilla) went to the good doctor on the Oct. 28 episode of Once Upon A Time to bring Daniel (Noah Bean) back from the dead, which is when we learned that he's really... Dr. Frankenstein! It may not have been a very well-kept secret — most fans guessed correctly weeks ago — but that didn't make his scenes any less awesome. The episode began in olden-day Enchanted Forest, where Regina was receiving magic lessons from Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle). And by "magic lessons," I mean they were killing unicorns together, which I found highly offensive. When she asked him how they could use magic to bring someone back from the dead,...

Sequels are an essential part of the horror genre. Revisiting a particular horrific scenario allows us to experience new thrills in a familiar setting — when we watch a horror sequel, we're braver now that we know the world and its rules, making us feel more like participants in the terror rather than helpless victims.
Unfortunately, a good horror sequel is a rare thing. It's a daunting task to make a fresh experience out of a now-familiar world. But every once in a while, it works. And works wonders.
With Halloween on the horizon and us in the mood for some franchise-friendly scares with the likes of "Paranormal Activity 4," "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D" and "Grave Encounters 2," we've compiled what we believe to be the Top 9 Horror Sequels. Please feel free to add the 10th in the comments section should the mood strike you as well.

Once Upon a Time made quite an impression here in the UK when it debuted to over 2 million viewers on Channel 5 at the beginning of April and there’s a new trailer for the show out today.
The quality of Us TV has rarely been higher, with many series picked up quickly for release around the world and looking at this trailer Channel 5 have cleverly taken on up a series which will likely buoyed by the current proclivity to take fairy tales and add a fresh spin. Mirror Mirror impressed (and perhaps surprised) critics while Kristen Stewart’s Snow White and the Huntsman looks to be a rather more epic and dark take on the story.
Here’s the new trailer for Once Upon a Time, and yes, that is Robert Carlyle in there.

The pre-mid-season efforts from the major networks are a wild affair at the best of times, and this season we're seeing just how far this unique mix of shows can go. With ABC's Once Upon a Time and NBC's Grimm kicking off rather near each other, we're about to find out if audiences are ready for the strangest of the strange to show their faces on network television.
We saw a certain amount of this sort of fare last season, and none of it turned out very well. What's interesting, is that it just keeps coming. Not only have we managed a wide range of original shows that are "out there," like last season's Eastwick, but we've also tried out hand at transporting shows that are already successful, like the attempt at running Merlin on NBC (of course, we had to move that to Syfy).

Just a reminder that Jane Espenson's new show, Once Upon a Time, premieres tonight at 8 pm on ABC.
Blogcritics talked to Jane about the show last week. Here are a few snippets from the interview:
So this is the year of the fairytale on primetime TV with Once Upon a Time, and then Grimm is also premiering shortly thereafter. Why did that happen, do you think? Does it have to do with the whole True Blood and vampire and mythology thing, do you think?
Yeah, the vampires. The era of the vampire lasted for longer than I though it would. And I’ve been sort of waiting to see what would be the next thing. Because aliens, robots, and monsters, including vampires, all play the same role in fantasy drama. I've heard it expressed, and I think this is pretty smart, that in sort of Depression-era times, there’s...

We have all the latest from the gang at Storybrooke, Maine: Prince Charming, the Evil Queen, and Emma, along with casting news and the latest series information from ABC about the upcoming premiere of Once Upon a Time.
First up, via TV Guide, we have the Evil Queen, also known as Regina in Storybrooke, played by Lana Parrilla:
Next, the very charming Prince Charming, known in Storybrooke initially as John Doe, played by Josh Dallas:
And this from our heroine, Emma Swan, played by Jennifer Morrison:
In casting news, TV Guide has reported that Brad Dourif (Fringe, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers) has been cast as “a beggar who befriends the evil Rumpelstiltskin.” Hopefully he’ll be able to look less creepy than when he was playing Wormtongue. Playing opposite Robert Carlysle as Rumpelstiltskin, maybe the two of them will be vying for Creepiest in All the Land.

Stargate: Universe: Seasons 1 & 2
DVD, 20th Century Fox
There's no shame in being a cancelled TV show these days. Where science fiction is concerned, it can almost be considered a badge of honour, as in cases such as Joss Whedon's Firefly or the dark X-Files follow-up Millennium. Let's not forget that Star Trek got yanked off the air, too. One of many spinoff series from the silly but entertaining 1994 Kurt Russell blockbuster, Stargate: Universe took on a darker, more serious tone, marooning a large group of explorers (including Robert Carlyle as the resident angry genius) on a huge and ancient spacecraft of unknown origin in a distant part of the universe. After a shaky start, the show developed into something much better than expected, with the unwilling and unprepared crew regularly at risk from internal power struggles, alien attacks and mysterious forces. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite the weekly...

With a list of directors like Steven Spielberg, Lynne Ramsay, Jim Sheridan, Harmony Korine, Anton Corbjin, Charlie Kaufman and Michael Winterbottom on her resume, actress Samantha Morton certainly had more than enough experience to draw upon when venturing out for her own directorial debut "The Unloved." Premiering way back in 2009 at Tiff, the made-for-Brit-tv movie stars Molly Windsor, Robert Carlyle and Susan Lynch and tells the story of a young girl plucked from her abusive parents and placed into woefully inadequate government care. We caught the film at Miff last year and called it "a compelling work of cinematic…...

Disney are finally pushing ahead with plans to make a sequel to last year’s Tron: Legacy, having hired scriptwriter David Digilio to pen the film. Though Tron: Legacy writers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis were expected to write a third Tron movie themselves, they’ve become too busy working on their ABC fairytale series Once Upon A Time (which premieres later this year), starring Ginnifer Goodwin and Robert Carlyle. Digilio has only one movie credit to his name, having written the script for Disney's 2006 movie Eight Below....

Jane Espenson has an incredible resume; after working as writer or producer on what seems like every genre show *ever* (seriously, how does she find the time? Does she have a Tardis?), she's about to get even busier. Today, she announced via Twitter that she would be working on Once Upon a Time, a fantasy TV series picked up by ABC earlier this week. Once Upon a Time stars Jennifer Morrison, a series regular on House and most recently seen on How I Met Your Mother, as a bail bondsman in the town of Storybrooke, surrounded by fairy tale characters engaged in a grim (!) battle for the future. Once Upon a Time also stars Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, Robert Carlyle, and Pirates of the Caribbean’s Lee Arenberg. It was created by Adam Horowitz & Edward Kitsis, executive producers of Lost and screenwriters of Tron: Legacy.

This fall, writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (Lost, Tron: Legacy) are bringing a fairy tale world to ABC with the new television series Once Upon A Time. In the series, the fairy tale characters of our childhood are trapped by magic in our modern world and have forgotten who they really are. Anna Swan, played by Jennifer Morrison (House, Star Trek) is destined to lead the fight in the struggle between good and evil.

[1] In the coming years, twisted fairytale reboots aren't just set to take over the big screen, but will also invade the small screen. ABC's Once Upon a Time will air at 8:00pm on Sunday nights starting this Fall. Created and written by Lost/Tron: Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, Time promises to be "a bold new vision of the world where fairytales and the modern day are about to collide." NBC's Grimm was created by David Greenwalt (Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Jim Kouf (Angel, National Treasure), and promises "a new world of police work where all cases have a storybook connection… but not always happily ever after." Watch both trailers embedded after the jump. Please leave your thoughts in the comments below. Trailer for Grimm Clips from Once Upon a Time Official Info: Grimm Once upon a crime. Remember the fairy tales your parents used to tell you before bedtime?...

The big-screen version of 21 Jump Street finally has a female lead. Brie Larson (United States of Tara, Scott Pilgrim vs the World) will play Molly in the rather unlikely R-rated comedy/action translation of the TV show that launched the career of a young Johnny Depp in 1987. Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs) are directing from a script by Josh Appelbaum with Michael Bacall, Joe Gazzam, Jonah Hill and André Nemec. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum will play the primary roles as cops investigating the drug trade in a high school; Ice Cube is their captain. The Lord/Miller team had me locked after Cloudy, and this one has been talked up as a Bad Boys-style action picture. Let's hope that really happens. [Deadline [1]] After the break, Luke Evans joins Robert Carlyle in the UK cop thriller Dogs of Law while Pierce Brosnan signs for All You Need is Love.

Get your swords and sandals ready – there’s a legion of historical epic movies on the way. Here’s Ti’s round-up…
Since Ridley Scott resurrected the swords and sandals genre with Gladiator in 2000, the historical epic has grown more and more popular. With massive budgets, thousands of extras and battle scenes that try to top each other year after year, the historical epic has become a regular feature in cinemas over the last ten decade, with Troy, Kingdom Of Heaven, Alexander, Robin Hood, Mongol, 300, King Arthur, The Last Legion, Pathfinder, Beowulf, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, and Clash Of The Titans all vying for our attention.
This year is no different, and with Michael Mann rumoured to be directing an adaptation of Bernard Cornwall's account of the Battle of Agincourt, Sharpe, it looks set to continue. We've already seen the likes of Robin Hood, Solomon Kane, Centurion, Clash Of The Titans,...

Fare such as Smallville's 'Labyrinth' episode and pretty much anything in either the UK or Us version of Life On Mars - even 'Life Is A Rock', the outrageous 'space finale' of ABC's 2008 remake of the original UK BBC series - is not admissable here. We knew that Smallville would continue after Labyrinth's attempts to persuade Clark that his Kryptonian heritage was invented, and since we knew ABC's Life On Mars was heading for the trash anyway, the final episode had no parameters left to respect. Also excluded are episodes of anthologies such as The Twilight Zone, which set out on a weekly basis to mess with our minds. And sorry, Lost definitely also falls into that category.
Here, instead, are the season episodes which 'got us' fair and square without committing canonical suicide...
This is chock-full of spoilers, so be warned...

I Know You Know
Stars: Robert Caryle, Arron Fuller, David Bradley | Written and Directed by Justin Kerrigan
The press release for I Know You Know describes the film as both a ‘touching coming of age movie’ and a ‘British father and son thriller’. From the cover art on the DVD, which depicts a furious Robert Carlyle brandishing a gun and newcomer Aaron Fuller running frantically, you might expect to find a ‘gritty’ action adventure inside. In truth, I Know You Know does not fit neatly into any genre in particular and carves its own niche.
In late 80s Cardiff, Charlie (Carlyle) and his son Jamie (Fuller) are on the run. Charlie is undercover, on a secret mission that revolves around the presumably nefarious activities of new satellite television company. Whilst Charlie goes about his top secret business, Jamie spends time at his Uncle Ernie’s house and enrols at a new school,...

Hunger (Criterion) Harrowing true story of imprisoned Ira member Bobby Sands (Michael Fassbender) and his 1981 hunger strike protesting the British government’s refusal to recognize him, and other Ira members as political prisoners. Director Steve McQueen delivers the story with true filmmaking panache, mixing startling imagery that blends both stunning beauty and stomach-churning horror. Fassbender is absolutely brilliant in the lead. Not for the faint-of-heart, but not to be missed or, particularly, ignored. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Interviews with McQueen and Fassbender; Short documentary; 1981 episode of BBC series “Panorama” that covers the Ira hunger strike; Trailer. Widescreen. DTS-hd audio on Blu-ray.
Adam (20th Century Fox) Quirky romantic comedy about an eccentric, borderline Asperger’s Syndrome, astronomy buff (Hugh Dancy) who is drawn out of his self-imposed shell by a beautiful and sympathetic neighbor (Rose Byrne). Charming film with engaging performances by the two leads,...

Sequels aren’t supposed to be as good as 28 Weeks Later, which does what more follow-ups should, and so few do: It uses the concepts introduced in its predecessor as the spine for a fresh dramatic story, instead of simply rehashing the elements that made the original work. In so doing, it manages at numerous points to be every bit as scary and intense as the original, while maintaining an even bleaker and more uncompromising outlook. This is not the kind of cinematic second helping that hedges its commercial bets by scaling back the confrontational stuff.
28 Weeks Later was directed and co-scripted by Spain’s Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who won significant acclaim for his 2001 debut feature Intacto. I admired that film...

With the cast that have signed on for “Stargate: Universe”, I am highly optimistic about the quality of the show. Robert Caryle isn’t going to appear in just anything. I get the feeling that Universe is going to go BattleStar in it’s direction and approach to quality. While the other Stargate shows were fun, they were B movie level affairs. Battlestar was grade “A” Fi and I’m betting the character driven stories in Universe are going to line up nicely with what made BattleStar great. I just hope that the effects and sets can compare with Bg. Thanks Scifi Sgu follows a band of soldiers, scientists and civilians, who must fend for themselves as they are forced through a Stargate when their hidden base comes under attack. The desperate survivors emerge aboard an ancient ship, which is locked on an unknown course and unable to return to Earth.
