There are people who stay on message — and then there’s Ryan Serhant.
The celebrity real estate broker, who gained global fame for his appearances on Million Dollar Listing New York, is hyper-focused, direct and as polished as the gleaming surfaces of the mega-penthouses he sells in Manhattan. Not a bad look when you’ve just published your third book, a guide to branding oneself and one’s company.
Titled Brand It Like Serhant: Stand Out From The Crowd, Build Your Following, and Earn More Money ($30, Hachette Go), the book takes readers through chapters designed as a step-by-step program that includes identifying a core identity, advice on using social media, and exhortations to “shout it from the mountaintop,” i.e. confidently and emphatically promote oneself. It includes exercises at the end of each chapter and even includes photos of Serhant modeling outfits and showing poses that do and don’t...

"I'm a messenger - and I'm carrying messages of love and hope." Dogwoof has revealed the official trailer for a biopic documentary film titled Dionne Warwick: Don't Make Me Over, from filmmakers David Heilbroner & Dave Wooley. This premiered at TIFF last year and it also screened at the Doc NYC and Santa Barbara Film Festivals. Set against a music world profoundly divided between black and white, Don't Make Me Over tells the dramatic story of Warwick's meteoric rise from New Jersey gospel choirs to international cross-over super stardom. The film chronicles the iconic singer Dionne Warwick's six-decade career in both music and Black and LGBTQ activism. The ultimate portrait of the legend, featuring an all star line up of appearances: Quincy Jones, Burt Bacharach, Bill Clinton, Clive Davis, Gladys Knight, Cissy Houston, Elton John, Damon Elliott, Kenneth Cole, Snoop Dogg, Smokey Robinson. This looks like an uplifting, joyous doc.

The resolution was first introduced last year on July 20 and sought to also recognize the everyday heroes across the 50 states who came to the aid of others during the Covid pandemic.

Jim Carrey’s star may have faded from his heyday when the rubber-faced comedian was one of the most popular and bankable actors on the planet, but it was still a huge coup when Saturday Night Live secured his services to recur on the latest season as Joe Biden. Fans were initially very receptive to the idea, but opinion shifted dramatically once he eventually made his debut and his performance came under heavy criticism for being absolutely nothing like the politician, with Carrey instead opting to play an extension of his established screen persona, albeit one caked in old age makeup.
Of course, SNL is nowhere near the cultural touchstone that it once was, but it still manages to generate fervent debate on a weekly basis. However, now that Biden has been named as the President-elect depending on which side of the fence you fall on, Saturday Night Live fans...

Spade was found in her New York City apartment on Tuesday and was pronounced dead on the scene. It was after midnight in France when Paris Hilton took the stage of amfAR Cannes in a “Moulin Rouge”-like tent off the Mediterranean Sea. She was here, naturally, to auction off a pair of gold-encrusted iPhones. “I love everyone,” said Hilton, to the crowd that had shelled out as much as $15,000 a head for the VIP dinner at the Hotel du Cap in Antibes. “I’ve been coming to amfAR for 20 years now,” Hilton said. “And it just gets better and better every year.” As she tried to up the stakes by adding a private party at her house (which doubles as a club), she fetched $235,000 for the non-profit devoted to fighting AIDS.

The 25th annual gala amFAR Cannes charity event, Cinema Against AIDS, took place even in the shadow of Harvey Weinstein’s downfall — the man who ruled over this event for almost all of the past quarter century. Not this time, though. And though the star quotient was lower than usual, his presence wasn’t missed in any major way. Pierce Brosnan, bringing in over $1 million for his Bob Dylan painting, and perennial Chris Tucker and Nicole Scherzinger were among the few celebrities onstage. Paris Hilton held forth a couple of times, and there was Ellie Goulding as well as Corey Hawkins present, among others.
But mainly the standard format of the event, with an auction for pricey and extravagant items and a fashion show, were the highlights, mixed in with terrific performances from Sting and Shaggy doing a three-song set, the legendary Grace Jones doing exactly what you would expect,...

Grace Jones, Jason Derulo and Ellie Goulding will perform at Thursday’s amfAR Cannes gala. They join Sting and Shaggy as part of the black-tie evening’s star attractions.
The non-profit organization has raised more than $210 million from the party to support AIDS research, but despite its charitable contributions, amfAR has been battling a wave of negative publicity. Much of that stems from the event’s long-association with disgraced indie mogul Harvey Weinstein, who has been accused of sexually harassing or assaulting dozens of women. In the past, Weinstein helped wrangle top talent to perform at the event and persuaded deep-pocketed supporters to bid on auction items.

In moves reminiscent of how the FBI brought down Al Capone over tax evasion, the Manhattan District Attorney’s office is sending out subpoenas focusing on Harvey Weinstein’s finances as part of a grand jury investigation.
While much attention has been given the past month to The Weinstein Company’s bankruptcy proceedings in federal court, several writs have gone out to the producer’s business associates and advisors from Manhattan D.A. Cyrus Vance Jr.’s team over the past few weeks, Deadline has learned. Casting a wide net, this portion of the effort led by prosecutor Joan Illuzzi-Orbon has put the spotlight on Weinstein’s backing of Broadway productions including the musical Finding Neverland and his personal expenses.
“They are following Harvey’s money and investors to connect the dots and make a financial misconduct case,” one insider told Deadline of the flurry of subpoenas coming out of the D.

Sure, it certainly pays to be a doctor, but how much does it pay to be in the medical field solely on-screen? Many fans of the long-running ABC drama Grey's Anatomy are curious about just how much their favorite TV doctors take home per episode. And what about the stars' net worths, specifically Ellen Pompeo? As you can imagine, she and the rest of the gang make bank. Previously, Ellen has gone on record about her decision to stay loyal to Grey's. "My decision to stay on was based solely on age. At 33, I was wise enough to know my clock was already ticking in Hollywood," the now 48-year-old said. "I thought, 'Why would I leave something that is super successful and pays me great to search the landscape?' I decided that I would stay on Grey's and be grateful and try to ride it out for as long as I could.

Kenneth Cole has made fighting for social justice part of his daily life. Whether he’s running his company and its Kenneth Cole Foundation or by serving as chairman of the board of amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research, acting as a Unaids International Goodwill Ambassador or launching the End AIDS Coalition, he has dedicated his life to HIV/AIDS awareness and activism, as well as other social issues. “Finding a way to make a difference is arguably far more defining than any collection I have brought to market,” the designer, 63, tells People in a new interview featured in this week’s issue.

For some, the dawn of AIDS seems a lifetime ago. In reality, it has been 30 million lifetimes ago.
HBO's documentary "The Battle of amfAR," airing Monday, Dec. 2 - the day after World AIDS Day - reminds us how this pandemic seemed to come out of nowhere 30 years ago and kill an estimated 30 million.
The film traces how two very different women, Elizabeth Taylor and Dr. Mathilde Krim, created the American Foundation for AIDS Research, an international nonprofit dedicated to AIDS research, HIV prevention and advocacy of humane public policy regarding the disease.
"We always knew AIDS was devastating so many communities globally and wouldn't go away until we found a cure," says Kenneth Cole, amfAR's chairman and the film's executive producer, to Zap2it.
Cole, the designer who has long promoted socially significant messages, has been involved with amfAR since it began. After Taylor's death nearly two years ago, "it...

The HBO documentary The Battle of AmfAR gives a swift overview of the creation of the foundation (the American Foundation for AIDS Research) since its inception in 1985, thanks to a partnership between research scientist Dr. Mathilde Krim and Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor. Fame is an important part of amfAR's story, and its very documentation carries through with that idea: directed by Oscar-winner Rob Epstein and Emmy-winner Jeffrey Friedman, Battle is also executive produced by fashion designer Kenneth Cole, who is amfAR's board chairman. That last point is important, because the documentary is essentially put together as a

Religious leaders in Honduras want to bar Ricky Martin from entry to the country because he's a gay dad. They think keeping one of the world's biggest pop stars outside the border is necessary to "protect the moral and ethical principles of our society."
Meanwhile, in America, author Michael Brown says the ultimate goal of gay activists isn't equality, but to put all the Christians in jail. Darn, they're on to us! I wonder if they know it's only until we can get enough lions?
A military appeals court has ruled that a Marine didn't violate the uniform policy by wearing part of his uniform in a gay adult film (well, several) he appeared in. Evidently if you don't wear it all, you're fine.
The Supreme Court is expected to pick up several interesting cases this session, including the healthcare reform law, and whether Cher's potty mouth destroys the fabric of the universe.
