The Fast and the Furious director Rob Cohen has settled on his latest pair of storm-chasers, with news emerging today that Ryan Kwanten and Taken star Maggie Grace have landed roles in upcoming disaster pic, Category 5.
Kwanten and Grace now join a cast that already features Ben-Hur and Fantastic Four‘s Toby Kebbell, who closed a deal to headline the drama late last month. He’ll play the part of a meteorologist who, alongside his ex-Marine brother (Kwanten) and a Us Treasury agent (Grace), must pull together to thwart a devastating hack on the U.S. Mint Facility during one of the greatest storms on record.
Blending genres in the hope of creating a pulse-pounding thriller, Category 5 is based on an original script penned by Cohen himself, with help from Scott Windhauser, Jeff Dixon, Anthony Fingleton, and Carlos Davis.
Here’s the official pitch for the feature film:...

Jamie Lee Curtis and "Halloween H20" director Steve Miner look set to re-team for the ABC Family drama series "The Final Girls".
The series will cover territory that seems quite suitable for the former scream queen. The story follows a group of girls who survived their own personal horror stories.
They are soon brought together by a mysterious older woman (Curtis) to channel the stress and scars of their experience for some greater good.
Miner will executive produce and direct the Jeff Dixon-penned pilot, though the network has yet to give it a green light.

The former scream queen has teamed up with her "Halloween: H20" director Steve Miner for a new horror-drama series at the teen-centric cable network, according to Deadline. Titled "The Final Girls," the Jeff Dixon-scripted project follows a group of young women who have survived their own personal horror stories who are brought together by a mysterious older woman (Curtis) to channel their experiences in service of the greater good. Exclusive: ABC Family has closed a deal for a high-profile horror spec script by writer Jeff Dixon, which has Jamie Lee Curtis attached to star and Steve Miner to direct and executive produce if the project goes to pilot. That would mark a reunion and return to the horror genre for the Halloween H2O star Curtis and its director Miner. While there is no green light yet for the project, I hear it is being put on a fast track. Titled The Final Girls, the drama revolves around a group of girls who have, in essence, survived their own personal horror stories and are brought together by a mysterious older woman (Curtis) to channel the stress and scars of their experience for some greater good. Horror launched Curtis’ feature career with the Halloween movies, starting with the original 1978 franchise-starter Halloween. Miner also helmed the second and third installment of another popular horror movie franchise,...
