"Want a little advice, homie? Make a move. Any move." Paramount has revealed the trailer for a comedy titled Snack Shack, a 90s throwback coming-of-age adventure about two best friends get the chance to run the swimming pool snack shack. This is the next new movie from the same filmmaker who made the punk romcom cult hit Dinner in America a few years ago. The two affable screw-ups decide to invest in a poolside Snack Shack in an effort to make some quick cash and strike it rich. However, the pair gets sidetracked by a beautiful and effortlessly cool lifeguard named Brooke, and their own propensity for getting into trouble. It's described as "a nostalgic journey for those who came of age before the era of cell phones, and a hilarious escape for those who wish they had." This stars Conor Sherry & Gabriel Labelle as Aj & Moose, with Mika Abdalla as Brooke,...

The Marvel live-action series “Cloak and Dagger” has been canceled at Freeform.
The series aired its second season back in April. It followed Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) who are two different kids from very different backgrounds but who find themselves burdened by and awakened to newly discovered superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another.
The series also starred Emma Lahana, Ally Maki, Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, Carl Lundstedt, James Saito, J.D. Evermore, and Jaime Zevallos. It was based on comic characters from books of the same name and was co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios. Joe Pokaski served as showrunner with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb also executive producing.
News of the cancellation comes after most of Marvel TV’s live-action fare has been canceled or ended within the last year. The only current Marvel TV live-action shows are “Runaways” at Hulu,...

Exclusive: Freeform has opted not to renew drama Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger for a third season. The news is not surprising as it comes five months after the second season of the superhero series ended its run on the Disney network. I hear the options on the cast expired this week.
Cloak & Dagger was well received when it first debuted in 2018, earning a second season renewal from Freeform. In its second season, the series’ ratings dropped almost -40% and were on par with another drama series recently canceled by Freeform, Pll: The Perfectionists.
“We are so proud of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and the trailblazing stories this series told,” Freeform said in a statement to Deadline. “We are also grateful to our incredible talent Oliva Holt and Aubrey Joseph for bringing these beloved characters to life, and showrunner Joe Pokaski for his vision. Still in Andre’s menacing clutches, a powerless Tandy plotted her great escape on Thursday’s Cloak & Dagger. But to make that happen, she’d need a little help — in front of and behind the camera. This week’s episode marked the directorial debut of showrunner Joe Pokaski, who also pulled double duty penning the script.
“We had some pretty sensitive stuff in there, and given what we were putting Olivia through — and Aubrey to a certain extent — I wanted to make sure that they both had me 100-percent as we were doing it,” Pokaski tells TVLine of his...

I’ve got an intense trailer here for an upcoming backwoods murder mystery thriller called A Dark Place. I enjoy a good murder mystery film and this one actually looks like it could be pretty good.
When a young boy turns up dead in a sleepy Western Pennsylvania town, Donald, a local garbage truck driver, takes it upon himself to play detective. He embarks on an obsessive investigation to prove that the boy had been murdered, leading to unthinkable and harrowing consequences.
The movie stars Andrew Scott (Sherlock, Victor Frankenstein, Alice Through the Looking Glass), with a supporting cast that includes Bronagh Waugh, Denise Gough, J.D. Evermore, Griff Furst, and Sandra Ellis Lafferty.
A Dark Place was directed by Simon Fellows and it will be released on April 12th.

"You know what?! You don't know everything you think you know..." Shout Factory has released the first trailer for an indie backwoods mystery thriller titled A Dark Place, formerly titled Steel Country when it initially premiered at festivals last year. This disappearance mystery film played at the Edinburgh, Galway, and Busan Film Festivals last year, and is getting a small theatrical release this spring. When a young boy goes missing in a sleepy backwoods town, a local sanitation truck driver, Donald, plays detective, embarking on a precarious and obsessive investigation. Andrew Scott stars, with an indie cast including Bronagh Waugh, Denise Gough, J.D. Evermore, Griff Furst, and Sandra Ellis Lafferty. This actually looks solid, even if it is all a bit cliche. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Simon Fellows' A Dark Place, direct from YouTube: When a young boy turns up dead in a sleepy Western Pennsylvania town,...

While I enjoyed the first season of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, it seems there are a lot of people that don’t like the show. I guess I can see why some people don’t like it, but I personally just really like how these two characters have been handled in the show. It’s solid character development.
It’s all good, though, the show isn’t for everybody, but for those of you who have been enjoying it, Freeform has released a full trailer for you to watch! It shows us that Tyrone and Tandy will be teaming up to save the world. This one specifically deals with sex trafficking. Then there’s the anti-hero Mayhem who doesn’t have any problems killing people to save others.
Here’s the synopsis for Season 2:

I’m a fan of the first season of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and I’m looking forward to seeing how the story of these two characters continues in the upcoming second season. If you haven’t watched Season 1 yet, you should check it out, I think most of you might dig it.
The new promo teases the arrival of the anti-hero Mayhem. Detective O'Reilly (Emma Lahana) was transformed into Mayhem after being killed and then revived by darkforce matter in the season 1 finale.
Here’s the synopsis for Season 2:
Season 2 turns the heat up on our young heroes, as Tyrone and Tandy try to find their place as more active heroes in this world. As they learn and grow emotionally, so will their skills. In Season 1, we saw Tandy and Ty dip their toes into the world of hopes and fears; this season, they will dive deeper into this metaphysical pool.

At the inaugural Freeform Summit today in Los Angeles, opened by "grown-ish" stars and musical artists Chloe x Halle, Disney's young adult television network announced a strategic shift in the brand as they hosted a series of panel discussions addressing activism, social change, representation in television and various other important issues defining modern youth culture. "At Freeform, we're purposefully and passionately moving our brand forward by defying expectations and dismantling conventions; busting stereotypes of theme, cast and culture in service to a more inclusive world on and off screen," said Tom Ascheim, president of Freeform.
The network-wide event was led by pioneers of change in television, entertainment and cultural evolution and featured the leading voices at the forefront of Freeform's 2018 programming slate, including Yara Shahidi, Karlie Kloss, Kenya Barris, Katie Stevens, Karey Burke, Aisha Dee, Nikohl Boosheri, Trevor Jackson, Melora Hardin, Joanna Coles, Marlene King, Amanda Lasher, Peter Paige,...

The Freeform network has released the first sneak peek of their upcoming Marvel series Cloak & Dagger. This is basically a clip from the series that shows the two main characters meeting for the first time. It's not that much to go off of, but I like what I've seen from the series so far, and I think this has the potential to be another great Marvel show. To watch the previously released trailer, click here.
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) – two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.

Olivia Holt (Tandy Bowen) and Aubrey Joseph (Tyrone Johnson) become Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger in today’s exciting new sneak peek for the coming-of-age superhero story – which we now know will premiere on June 7th at 8pm Et.
Bursting with young romance and teenage angst, the live-action Cloak & Dagger comes to us courtesy of showrunner Joe Pokaski (Underground, Heroes), who will tell the tale of Tandy (Dagger) and Tyrone (Cloak), as they each struggle to come to terms with their superhuman abilities and keeping them under control – which is exactly what the footage above teases.
The two characters are, in essence, the polar opposites of each other; Holt’s Tandy Bowen can emit blinding light daggers on a whim, while Tyrone “Ty” Johnson harbors an ability that allows him to engulf others in darkness. Together, they form an alliance (and romance?) to tackle crime and the city’s underground drug trade.

Marvel and Freeform has released the first trailer for their new teen drama series Cloak & Dagger and I really like what I'm seeing. I don't really watch any shows on Freeform so I wasn't really sure what to expect when the series when it was first announced, but this trailer sold me on it! It looks like the kind of show that I'd enjoy watching.
The series is a coming-of-age drama that focuses on the characters Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph), "the eponymous Cloak and Dagger, as they learn to use their newly-acquired superpowers while also falling in love with each other. Cloak is capable of teleportation through the “dimension of darkness” but can also leave foes stranded in the other world as well. Olivia Holt (Tandy Bowen) and Aubrey Joseph (Tyrone Johnson) become Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger in today’s pulsing first trailer for the coming-of-age superhero story.
Bursting with young romance and teenage angst, the live-action Cloak and Dagger comes from the mind of showrunner Joe Pokaski (Underground, Heroes), who will tell the tale of Tandy (Dagger) and Johnson (Cloak) as they each struggle to wrangle their superhuman abilities under control. Exactly how that chance (?) meeting filters into the story, though, is still up for question.

"Let me be clear - you and I, we are not a love story." The Orchard has debuted an official trailer for an indie dramedy titled The Sweet Life, a romantic fable about two people struggling in thier own way who decide to travel together across the Us. Their plan is to make it to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco so they can both commit suicide together. Of course, along the way they discover just how great it is to enjoy life together. Chris Messina and Abigail Spencer co-star, along with Tyson Ritter, J.D. Evermore, Karan Soni, Chris Aquilino, and Michael Emery. This honestly doesn't look that good, but I am a big fan of Chris Messina, plus I am hoping there's an earnest side to this that makes it worth a watch. Have fun. Marvel has wasted no time in filling out its cast for the upcoming Cloak and Dagger series. Barely two weeks have passed since we caught wind of Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph securing the coveted title roles, but today brings confirmation that the studio has now filled out the rest of the roster with six new series regulars.
Ordered straight to series last April, Marvel and Freeform’s live-action adaptation chronicles the interracial and suitably superheroic romance between Cloak and Dagger (Aka Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen), who will be played by Joseph and Holt, respectively.
In terms of those new recruits, Andrea Roth (Rescue Me) will play the part of Melissa Bowen. Mother to Tandy, Roth’s character is considered the eternal optimist, despite the struggles to adapt to her new existence. On the other side of the coin, Gloria Reuben (Mr. Robot) is Adina Johnson, Tyrone’s mom.

In my early days on the beat, NBC had an ad campaign encouraging people to watch summer reruns, promising, "If you haven't seen it, it's new to you!" In the age of Peak TV, that slogan seems less cynical than accurate. The rise of streaming services has put the bulk of TV history only a click or two away, which means that people are constantly discovering The Wire, or Arrested Development, or Terriers (sigh) for the very first time. In lieu of a summer rewind this year, I wanted to offer up primers of shows you can stream, whether an older series available in full(*) or something current you can catch up on before its next season begins. So far, I've done a pair of current shows in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Halt and Catch Fire, plus completed shows in United States of Tara and Flight of the Conchords. (*) Note: with these picks,...

With zombie movies and shows being all the rage nowadays, the “zombie rules” become a bit overwhelming, to say the least. Do the humans turn immediately or after a while? Are they fast or slow? Do they still function as normal human beings, just slower, or do they have superhuman strength and rational? Do they enjoy Queen or are they a huge Deliverance fan? The list goes on and on, and I’m sure there’s more you can add.
Well Maggie is a different kind of story. It’s not a survival story like most zombie films, and it’s not a rebuilding and restructuring story like others. Maggie is more about the moment, take a combination of Amy’s death from The Walking Dead and R turning human. It’s essentially an hour and half of dying, in a rather disheartening setting between shockingly emotional acting from Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin.
