Apple is turning its lens on the Iron Horse.
The iPhone maker/streamer is teaming with Universal Television and Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video to adapt author Jonathan Eig’s book, Luckiest Man: The Life and Death of Lou Gehrig, as a scripted television series, sources say.
Dan Kay (the upcoming Spider & Jessie) is on board to co-write the script alongside the author, Eig, and serve as showrunner on the drama, which is currently in the development stages. Eig will be credited as a co-exec producer. Peter Farrelly (Apple’s The Greatest Beer Run Ever) is attached as an exec producer and would direct the pilot should the untitled drama move forward. Michael Uslan, David Uslan and Charles Wessler will also exec produce alongside Saturday Night Live mastermind Michaels and his son, Broadway Video creative exec Eddie Michaels.
It’s unclear if Major League Baseball will be involved in the potential series.

Rudy Boesch, a retired United States Navy Seal who competed in two seasons of CBS’ Survivor, has died at age 91 due to complications from Alzheimer’s Disease, People reports.
Boesch was 72 years old when he began his Survivor career on the reality competition series’ very first season (aka Survivor: Borneo) in 2000. Despite being significantly older than his fellow competitors, Boesch proved that age isn’t everything, ultimately finishing in third place behind Kelly Wiglesworth and Richard Hatch.

Pierce Brosnan plays a Michael O’Leary-like businessman with a gadget-filled pad who gets more tech support than he bargained for in this silly, dull squeaker
An interesting premise but not much more to this ho-hum home invasion thriller, written by Dan Kay and directed by John Moore (who gave us the entertaining Gene Hackman/Owen Wilson actioner Behind Enemy Lines). Pierce Brosnan stars as wealthy Irish mogul Mike Regan, who leases private jets: Brosnan plays him brash, with maybe a touch of Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary. Regan is devoted to his lovely wife and daughter, played by Anna Friel and Stefanie Scott, but he’s over-leveraged the business and has secret money troubles. So Mike’s hugely grateful when a young It guy on his staff, Ed (James Frecheville) saves his ass by fixing a computer glitch that had threatened to wreck a vital presentation. When his daughter complains about their home’s dodgy Internet connection, high-flying executive Mike Regan (Pierce Brosnan) brings in I.T. guy Ed (James Frecheville). Overestimating the breadth of their friendship – by assuming that they have one – the spurned tech guy turns stalker, using his computer skills to infiltrate and attack the family on every level. They’re gonna need a better firewall.
It may have a grizzled, craggy former James Bond as the lead, but this is no Taken riff. In spite of its ultra high-tech trappings, I.T. is a remarkably old-fashioned stalker movie, reminiscent of the likes of Prey, Pacific Heights, One Hour Photo or, um, The Cable Guy. All Sallow’s Eve: Edel Gets Stuck in the Cage
For those who had a modicum of hope that German director’s Uli Edel‘s Canadian production of Nicolas Cage horror thriller Pay the Ghost would be more serviceable than its inane title would suggest, abandon hope all ye who enter here. Based on a novella by Tim Lebbon and adapted by Dan Kay (who last penned the 2007 indie yokel horror film Timber Falls), it’s one of those unfortunate genre cheapies that takes itself too seriously to be appreciated even for a bit of camp value—a missed opportunity considering Cage is headlining.

Actor Nicolas Cage is returning to the horror genre, an area he previously explored with films such as The Wicker Man, in his latest feature.
Titled Pay The Ghost, the film is directed by Uli Edel, with a screenplay from Dan Kay, who adapts the story from the novella by Tim Lebbon. Cage is joined onscreen by Sarah Wayne Callies, Veronica Ferres, and Lyriq Bent.
The film’s synopsis is as follows.
A professor frantically searches for his son who was abducted during a Halloween parade.
While the logline makes the feature sound like a drama or a thriller, the trailer plays up what appear to be the film’s supernatural elements. This is Cage’s second theatrical release this year, following The Runner, and he will appear on the big screen one more time before the year’s out, in Oliver Stone’s Snowden.

This Halloween, there's going to be an extra "treat" waiting for you: another random Nicolas Cage movie, "Pay The Ghost." This one does have some possibility of not just being another movie that will live in the furthest corners of DVD and VOD hell. Read More: The Films Of Nicolas Cage: A Retrospective The picture is directed by Uli Edel, the man behind "The Baader Meinhof Complex," "Last Exit To Brooklyn," plus episodes of "Houdini," "Oz," and "Homicide: Life On The Streets." The story, however, by Dan Kay about a conspiracy of missing children on Halloween seems silly. Here's the official synopsis: Oscar® winner Nicolas Cage (Leaving Las Vegas) stars in this intense and chilling thriller about one man’s desperate search for his missing child. One year after his young son disappeared during a Halloween carnival, Mike Cole (Cage) is haunted by eerie images and terrifying messages he can’t explain.

Audiences will see Pierce Brosnan get back into action mode this weekend with The November Man (and there's already a sequel on the way), but that's not the only action he'll be seeing on the big screen. The former James Bond is set to star in I.T., another thriller set up at Voltage Films with A Good Day to Die Hard helmer John Moore attached to direct. But it sounds like there won't quite be as much action as either of their recent projects since the story follows Brosnan as a publisher whose relationship with a young I.T. consultant sours, causing the young man to use technology to threaten his family, business and life. Deadline reports the script originally comes from Dan Kay, based on an idea from David T. Friendly and his Friendly Films banner. But now Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Live Free or Die Hard writer William Wisher Jr....

There are two kinds of Nicolas Cage movies. There are the ones where he shows his dramatic and comedic breadth as an actor, in films as diverse as Leaving Las Vegas, Adaptation and The Weather Man. Then, there are the rest of his films. Notorious for making schlock as well as the occasional stellar film, Cage has one of the biggest resumes of any actor his age. Now on a hot streak due to his role in David Gordon Green’s drama Joe, Cage has signed on to Pay the Ghost, a film that could fall in either category of his filmography.
