The directorial debut of John Ridley (screenwriter on Three Kings and U-Turn), All Is By My Side chronicles the early period of legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix's life he spent in London in 1966, formulating his debut album, Are You Experienced. Production of the film will be split between Wicklow and Dublin, and is produced by Watchtower Film Productions, a collaboration between Dublin based production company Subotica Entertainment, Richard Kelley's (Donnie Darko) Darko Entertainment, and Britaish company Matador Pictures. Production is set to begin in late May or early June, with Andre Benjamin, better known as Andre 3000 from hip hop duo Outkast, cast in the role of Hendrix. Donnie Darko writer-director Richard Kelley is taking a break from his usual trippy tendencies with his next project, Corpus Christi, a "contemporary thriller" to be co-produced by horror bad boy Eli Roth. More info on the project after the jump. According to Variety, the "Texas-set story concerns a mentally unstable Iraq war veteran, who forges a strange friendship with his boss, a wealthy and politically ambitious owner of a supermarket chain." The film is set to begin production on location in July, and casting annnoucements are expected by the end of March. Enchanted director Kevin Lima is on board to direct a new version of Mary Shelley's classic horror novel Frankenstein. Frank has a helluva twist, though; the scientist cooking up cadavers is an "antisocial" young woman in med school who decides to "create" her own friends. And... it's a romantic comedy.
