Captain America: Brave New World, or Captain America 4, is going to mark the return of several characters from The Incredible Hulk. Liv Tyler, who played the role of Betty Ross in the 2008 film is also confirmed to reprise her role in Anthony Mackie’s next MCU feature. According to the latest rumors, Tyler will only be there in the film for the post-credits scene.
Liv Tyler as Betty Ross
If the rumors are to be believed, the post-credits scene will center around the “funeral” of Betty’s father Thaddeus Ross, who will be played by Harrison Ford in the upcoming film. The late William Hurt played the role of Thaddeus Ross in the past MCU films. As Ford’s Ross is expected to play a central role in Captain America 4, the rumor has many fans concerned about the character.
What do the rumors state about Thaddeus Ross’ fate in Captain America 4?...

We've had a pretty good idea that Captain America: Brave New World would feature the MCU debut of Red Hulk for a while now, but we recently got confirmation thanks to some McDonald's Happy Meal Toys!
Not an ideal way to get a first look at the rampaging red monster, but the plush toys weren't exactly detailed. Now, thanks to some new promo art, we finally have a proper look at the character design.
The artwork isn't the clearest, but it still gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect from Brave New World's take on the transformed General President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (Harrison Ford). And no, it doesn't look like he's going to grow the 'stache back when he changes!

Controversially seen as one of the less successful early MCU entries (and infamous for behind-the-scenes tension with star Edward Norton), The Incredible Hulk is finally headed to Disney+ this Friday.
The 2008 film, directed by Louis Leterrier, has been controlled by original release studio Universal, but the rights have now switched to Disney/Marvel.
And we've already seen elements filtering through to more recent MCU releases including Tim Roth's Emil Blonsky/The Abomination showing up on Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.
That's a trend set to continue with the in-production Captain America: Brave New World, which will feature the return of Liv Tyler's Betty Ross and Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns, Aka hyper-intelligent villain The Leader. Harrison Ford is playing Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (Betty's father), as introduced in Incredible Hulk, there played by William Hurt.

"Captain America 4" now has a new name. Originally titled "Captain America: New World Order," the movie is now "Captain America: Brave New World." Whether the new movie will pay tribute to Aldous Huxley's classic 1932 sci-fi novel "Brave New World" remains to be seen, and reps for Disney did not respond to Popsugar's request for comment about the change.
Anthony Mackie, who stars as hero Sam Wilson, announced the news on his Instagram on June 6. "When Harrison Ford tells you how kicking ass should look, you listen!" he wrote in the caption. "LoL… Thanks for the on set wisdom and laughs my friend! Can't wait to do it again… Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World in theaters May 3, 2024." However, shortly after Mackie shared that post, Marvel pushed back the film's release by two months.

Living through an era of seemingly endless and ever-expanding franchises and multiverses, when “listen to the fans” is a governing principle for the purveyors of pop culture, it’s easy to forget that the superhero genre once offered filmmakers an exciting avenue for pop-art indulgence. Pity, then, that appreciation continues to elude Ang Lee’s Hulk, an ambitious take on Marvel’s big green menace and one of the boldest entries into the cinematic superhero canon.
A willfully melodramatic amalgamation of styles and thematic fixations, from atomic anxiety to childhood trauma, the 2003 film was derided for its lack of action and purported over-reliance on dialogue. Unsurprisingly, the woeful “Critics Consensus” for the film on Rotten Tomatoes read: “There’s ultimately too much talking and not enough smashing.”

Is Aldous Huxley the new head of Hydra?
Marvel Studios has renamed its fourth First Avenger film “Captain America: Brave New World,” changing the 2024 release’s original title of “Captain America: New World Order.” The May 3 release date has not changed.
“Brave New World” is also the title of Huxley’s altogether too predictive 1932 dystopian novel, set in a futuristic World State. Disney did not explain the reason for the change in its Tuesday morning release, though the phrase “New World Order” carries a whiff of globalist politics that the literary “Brave New World” does not.
The studio also released its first set photo from the movie, currently in production. Harrison Ford and Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson and takes over the mantle of Cap for “Brave New World,” can be seen yukking it up behind the scenes.

Not long ago we learned that Jennifer Connelly would be in Spider-Man: Homecoming. It wasn't revealed who exactly she would be playing at the time. Just that her name was Karen and that she was also referred to as "Suit Lady".
Thanks to director Jon Watts, we now know exactly who she's playing. If you don't want to know, then I suggest you don't read beyond this point.
As we previously said, she is not reprising her role as Betty Ross. The Hulk film that she starred in wasn't even a part of the current McU. One of our readers, Andrew All Over, actually guessed who she would be playing in the comments of our previous post.
While talking to Entertainment Weekly, Watts revealed that Connelly will be playing the voice of the A.I. of Spider-Man's suit. Here's an interesting fact about that... Connelly is also married to Paul Bettany,...

There are plenty of bit players in Spider-Man: Homecoming whose names will be familiar to comic book fans -- the Tinkerer, the Shocker and could Tiffany Espensen's Cindy eventually be revealed as Cindy Moon aka Silk? One of the most significant inclusions, though, is Aaron Davis (Donald Glover), a low-level criminal who appears only briefly in the movie.
Minor spoilers ahead for Spider-Man: Homecoming.
In one of Glover's scenes, Davis is confronted by Spidey (Tom Holland) about black market alien technology being dealt in New York City. Davis offhandedly replies, "I don't want those weapons around. I got a nephew in the neighborhood."

By now, you’re well aware that Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to be a star-studded affair, as is the case with most superhero movies these days. So, aside from having Robert Downey Jr. reprising his iconic role of Tony Stark/Iron Man and boasting a former Batman in Michael Keaton as the primary antagonist, the Vulture, you can look forward to seeing various other heavy hitters from around Hollywood stopping by – even for the smaller parts.
As you may recall, word got out a few weeks back that Jennifer Connelly took part in the upcoming blockbuster, which Marvel was forced to confirm soon after the news broke. Now, we can reveal whom she’s playing, but it comes as a bit of a surprise.

Update: Sony has now released the official cast list for the film, confirming Connelly’s involvement.
Spider-Man: Homecoming has one of the most impressive casts of any movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. The credits list is full of exciting names, including Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Donald Glover and Jon Favreau. And that’s not even mentioning all the young and upcoming stars, like Zendaya, Laura Harrier, Angourie Rice and obviously, Tom Holland. Even in this late stage, however, just two weeks before the movie hits theatres, we might have just found out that another big name is set to appear.
Now that press screenings for Homecoming have begun, more and more details about are starting to leak out and earlier today, some eagle-eyed fans noticed that IMDb now lists Jennifer Connelly as appearing in the film. The movie database credits the actress in the role of ‘Karen/Suit Lady.’
In case you don’t know, IMDb can literally be edited by anyone, so we have to be wary of accepting this at face value. After all, this is the first time we’ve heard of the actress being attached to the production. However, going by the character credit, it sounds like the site’s saying she only has a cameo part in the film. As such, this small a role could possibly have slipped through the net and gone unnoticed by the media.
If this turns out to be true, Homecoming will mark Connelly’s third role in a comic book movie. Back in 1991, she appeared in The Rocketeer as the titular jetpacked hero’s girlfriend Jenny. Then in 2003, she starred as Betty Ross in Ang Lee’s Hulk.
It looks like we’ll have to wait until the film opens to see if this rumour holds any weight, but thankfully, there’s not too much longer to go now, as Spider-Man: Homecoming arrives on July 7th.

The Incredible Hulk never got a sequel, and while Bruce Banner has made his presence felt throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe since then, there's been no sign of Liv Tyler's Betty Ross. Could that change with the massive Avengers: Infinity War? Well, the Scottish Daily Record has a piece up about the movie shooting there soon, and they may have revealed that the actress will be reprising the role. "Brie Larson of 21 Jump Street fame is expected to play Captain Marvel, while Liv, daughter of Aerosmith rocker Steven, is rumoured to be playing her Incredible Hulk character Betty Ross. Inverness-born Karen [Gillen], 29, is reportedly preparing to star as galactic supervillain Nebula." They don't indicate where this information has come from (for all we know, they could have pulled it straight off a quick Google search), but it does sound like they may have heard some solid intel here. Thank Friday, Marvel has released the synopsis for what is sure to be the buddy-hero action extravaganza of 2017; Thor: Ragnarok. It's still very early in Phase 3 for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the events of the film are sure to be leading us straight to Thanos. Ooo, did you feel that? Chills. Okay, let's read the synopsis:

But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!”

Comic book reviewers these days can be so fickle. There’s one review on a comic site regarding this week’s Totally Awesome Hulk where the reviewer can’t seem to make his mind up about Bruce Banner. Despite identifying with Bruce Banner, he goes on saying, “I don’t think he’s needed in the Marvel Universe anymore” and then adds “Kids will always want to be the Hulk, but no kid has ever wanted to be Bruce Banner because of his anger issues.” This review was patronising, and of course it was a slap in the face of Hulk fans, especially one who commented on a forum “Kids are scared of Hulk Because of Banner. And that no kid ever wanted to be Banner; sorry, some of us did!

At the time of writing, Marvel have not yet confirmed a third standalone Hulk movie, but without giving anything away, the closing events of Avengers: Age of Ultron definitely leave that door wide open. With that in mind, it seems like the perfect time to re-appraise ol' greenskin's first big screen outing, Ang Lee's multi-million dollar psychodrama, Hulk.
Released in 2003, Hulk took a total of $132.2 million at the Us box office, just short of its reputed £137 million budget. Though it eventually took over $245 million worldwide, it was perceived as a flop, significantly under-performing compared to the likes of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man or Bryan Singer's X-Men movies. Hulk not box-office Smash, in other words. Critics weren't overly kind either – it earned 62% on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, indicating decidedly mixed reviews albeit with a positive slant.

HitFix certainly doesn't lack for coverage of "Avengers: Age of Ultron," including Drew McWeeny's review and the whole staff picking the best and worst parts of the film. But as someone who's been writing about Joss Whedon's work for a long time, and as someone who's been covering "Agents of Shield" this season (more on that in a bit), I wanted to offer some thoughts on the movie, its place in both the Marvel filmography and Whedon's, with lots and lots of spoilers for the film (so beware), coming up just as soon as I remodel the dining room... I have to admit to feeling a certain level of dread as "Age of Ultron" approached. The first "Avengers" was a fun movie, and a culmination of all the things Whedon had been doing on both the small and big screens. This is a weird thing to suggest about...

Earlier this week, the folks over at CinemaSins took aim at Hulk in their long-running "Everything Wrong With." video series. It looks like they couldn.t stay away from the Green Goliath for long, as only two days later, they now have a video nitpicking and criticizing the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk in 13 minutes. Take a look! After a five-year absence from the big screen, The Incredible Hulk was the cinematic return of Marvel.s green-skinned monster. However, rather than be a direct sequel to Hulk, this movie is a reboot set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - though the CinemaSins people are acting like it.s a follow-up to the 2003 film in the beginning of the video. Much of the video.s material rips into how coincidental many of the events are (which is a common problem for many films), such as Betty Ross just happening to find Bruce...

Spoilers: we've gone through Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age Of Ultron and tried to answer the many questions it raises....
This article contains major spoilers for Avengers: Age Of Ultron
If Avengers: Age of Ultron is anything, it's dense. It has to spin out of films, spin films out of itself, and tell its own story with a cast of seven heroes and three villains. There's a lot going on, and not everyone will have caught all of it. If you've seen Avengers: Age of Ultron and find yourself confused about any part of it, we've tried to answer the questions you might have about it. Be careful if you haven't seen the film, though – spoilers obviously abound!
1. What's Wakanda?
Visited by Ultron and later the Avengers, Wakanda is a fictional African state which is also the home (and kingdom of) of the Black Panther. Located in northeast Africa, it...

Actors who are cast in a film together often posses a certain quality or look that make them suitable as co-stars. And in this world of sequels, prequels, remakes, and competing franchises, it can be those same characteristics that also make them fitting for the same roles. Here are ten sets of actors who had played, or ended up playing, the same character as their co-star - but in a different movie (with a couple of television series exceptions):
Vito Corleone - Robert De Niro, Marlon Brando
Marlon Brando and Robert De Niro both earned Oscars for their portrayals of Vito Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather trilogy. Decades later, the two Vito Corleones starred together in the 2001 heist thriller The Score, which was directed by the voice of Yoda himself, Frank Oz — an offer they couldn't refuse, he must have made them.

Millions of comic book readers around the world can often feel disappointed and short changed when they see their favourite superhero character portrayed on the silver screen. This is normally because there are notable differences between the comic and film which they find difficult to overlook. Due to the recent string of Marvel films, Gala Casino have compiled a comparison list of popular Marvel characters, which looks at the similarities and contrasts between the cinematic and printed selves. Using Gala’s list as inspiration we’ve created our own list comparing the Hollywood movies to the nostalgic comics:
Iron Man
There is no denying that Robert Downey Jr. has done an excellent job bringing Tony Stark to life in the Hollywood films. That being said, there are still differences between the two characters that should be noted. Completely different from the comic books is Pepper Potts and Stark’s relationship; in the films,...

(Cbr) Like every other obsessive Marvel fan who measures their life in firm pre-and-post-"Avengers" eras, I'm really looking forward to Netflix's upcoming television series. When it comes to Marvel's 2015 output, I might actually be more excited for those shows than I am for "Avengers: Age of Ultron." I love the Avengers -- after all, without them I wouldn't be able to remember which big life events happened before or after 2012. I just have a bigger attachment to these new Netflix heroes than, well, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Y'all, just the thought of seeing a live action Misty Knight causes me to start fist pumping. But there's one character that I'm most excited to see on the small screen, and I believe he's the exact character that the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs right now. That character is Foggy Nelson. Yeah, Daredevil's buddy Franklin "Foggy" Nelson. Yeah, that chubby lawyer...

Is there anyone out there who still watches Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? The show’s ratings have been in a steep decline all season long, though they enjoyed a bit of a bump last night with Lady Sif’s appearance. Now, it seems that Marvel is opting into introducing more comic book characters on the show as they plan to bring classic Hulk villain, Glenn Talbot on board.
Talbot will be played by Heroes alum Adrian Pasdar, and will only be appearing in one episode for now. The character has a long history of being a thorn in the Hulk’s side, even going so far as marrying Bruce’s sweetheart Betty Ross and outing Bruce as the Hulk. In other words, he’s a bit of an asshole, a role Pasdar plays often. The actor himself joked about his casting in a recent interview, saying:

The climax of the latest "Iron Man 3" trailer was packed with armor, hinting that it won't just be Tony Stark and James Rhodes donning a suit in the film. This fact has pretty much been confirmed by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige (spoilers ahoy), and it got us thinking about the other supporting characters that have taken on some of Marvel's most popular mantles. The aforementioned "Iron Man" films have done a decent job of expanding its characters into the roles assumed by their comic book counterparts. How do the rest fare?

If Captain America's franchise follows the source material faithfully, we could leave "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" with a replacement Cap ready to go. Following the assassination of Steve Rogers just after Marvel's "Civil War" event, Bucky himself filled the role for two years. The Bucky Cap era was generally well-received...

Since the Marvel Universe was conceived of in the much less diverse days of the early 1960s, the majority of the characters that have risen to prominence are straight, white and male (looking your way, every member of The Avengers other than Black Widow). And while Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe wasn't completely lacking in diversity, most of the women there served as a love interests (Pepper Potts, Betty Ross, Jane Foster and Peggy Carter) and there were even fewer characters of color (James Rhodes as War Machine and the Ultimate version of Nick Fury, himself previously Caucasian in the comics).
Things look to be improving for Phase Two, with characters like Sif and War Machine getting prominent placement and Falcon and Sharon Carter suiting up for action. But we think Marvel can really strive for diversity by utilizing some of the great characters mentioned below in Phase Three.

The Hulk ripped his shirt off (again)...luckily for him we've got tons of new shirts for him featuring tons of his favorite superheroes. When Bruce is all done Hulking out he can recover with a beverage from one of our fantastic new mugs or cups! Or make it up to Betty Ross with a brand new pair of our superhero undies. Wonder Woman's fight for equality has resounded quite thoroughly through time, and now it looks like we have pairs of Ladies Boyshorts, undies, and panties as one of the many fruits of Wonder Woman's labor! Not quite sure how equality turns into boyshort styled panties but...okay I am reaching for that connection. Can you forgive me? Still, I bet you are mighty interested in these Wonder Woman Juniors Boyshorts and other undergarments! A fine pair of blue underwear with red trim and possessing a faux-metal symbol in...

Red Hulk (or "Rulk" as he's sometimes referred to by fans) didn't start off as the most popular of characters, but ol' General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross has since made quite an impact with his own solo series and roles in both Avengers and Avenging Spider-Man. Girlfriends. Gal pals. Sidekicks. Whatever you call them, superheroes just wouldn't be able to rise to their full powers without a love interest — and usually a healthy dose of some smoldering on-screen sexuality.
So whether it's the famous upside down kiss between Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man and girlfriend Kirsten Dunst or Gwyneth Paltrow's slinky skirts and witty banter with Iron Man Robert Downey, Jr., the chemistry between a superhero and his civilian paramour is usually an integral part of the story.

Most early reviews of "The Avengers" are celebrating the Marvel crossover film as a triumph, and everyone seems to be in agreement that Mark Ruffalo's take on The Hulk has finally nailed down the gamma-radiated favorite.
Naturally in the wake of Ruffalo's success, talk went straight to a new standalone Hulk movie, but when the Huffington Post talked with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, a new Hulk movie did not seem likely.
"This was the third appearance of Hulk and everything that we had and were going for, we put in to Hulk's appearance in 'Avengers,'" Feige said. "So, I love that people are saying that and are feeling that way about Hulk, but mission accomplished at this point."

Marvel's Head Of Television Jeph Loeb goes fairly in depth on the plans for the Hulk tv series here. He says that the most popular incarnation of Bruce Banner has always been Billy Bixby and explains how we never got to sympathize with his plight in the two Hulk movies the same as we did in the classic show. He says Mark Ruffalo's version of the character in The Avengers will change all that. He says Betty Ross is as big a part of the show as Banner and it's very much a love story between them. He also hints that even though the show will air after The Avengers movie, it will be set a long time before it. He also talks about the special effects that will be used to bring The Hulk to life, hinting that Guillermo Del Toro will use a similar approach to Hellboy.

One way the company will save money is by recycling the Hulk from "The Avengers" for the TV show. While The Hulk will be appearing in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, he’ll also be returning to TV in an all-new show with Guillermo Del Toro attached. So, how will The Hulk look in the show? Well, just look at the image to the left.
Look familiar? Well, it should because that’s exactly how the character will be portrayed in The Avengers next May. IGN spoke with Jeph Loeb and Kevin Fiege, and revealed Hulk’s image in The Avengers will be recycled for the new show. However, that doesn’t mean Hulk will be portayed in the same manner as the movie version as the show will go more into Bruce Banner’s relationship with Betty Ross.
Not exactly surprising as Marvel is notorious for being cheap, and finding ways to cut costs on projects. But it’s not a bad idea to begin with.
