There’s a new eligible bachelor in Bluebell. Barry Watson is joining “Hart of Dixie” in a recurring role, a CW representative told TheWrap. Watson will play Davis Polk, who’s described as “a southern gentleman who is handsome, quick-witted, and a little bit shy.” He’ll become very popular among Bluebell’s belles, but Davis has his eye on one specific (and popular) character on the show. Also read: CW’s ‘Flash’ Pilot Adds Broadway’s ‘Once’ Star Carlos Valdes He previously starred on The CW’s sixth season of “Gossip Girl” as Steven Spence. But, Watson is probably...

Union survey records worrying rise in actors working for free, as employment plummets and regional theatre declines
Almost half of Equity members in Britain made less than £5,000 from their professional work last year, according to a survey by the actors' union. One in 10 performers did not get any professional work, while one in three was employed for fewer than 10 weeks.
Since November 2012, almost half said they had worked for no pay, while a further 51.9% were not reimbursed for expenses. The impact on average salaries of performers was notable: 49% earned less than £5,000 through the entertainment industry in the same period, with one in five earning nothing whatsoever.
The proportion of performers working for less than 10 weeks a year went from 63.1% to 45.5%. While regional theatre had provided 41.7% of work three years ago, that figure had slumped to 28.4%. Actors working in commercial theatre plummeted from 51.3% to 19.8%.

Gossip Girl returned from its hurricane-related hiatus this evening with an episode that ... well let's just say that if Hurricane Sandy had prevented you from seeing it last week, you wouldn't have missed all that much.
The hour continued the separate, intertwining storylines of Dan, Serena, Nate, Chuck and Blair, bringing us slightly closer to the grand finale (now pushed back to December 17) but without too many big developments.
There were some memorable lines and scenes, at least compared to the previous two episodes, yet the continued presence of Steven and Sage, plus Chuck's convoluted quest to take down Bart, still dragged at times.
In "Portrait of a Lady Alexander," Chuck's continued investigation into his dad's dealings led him to an unlikely high society event - a horse show where he hoped to find the person who can help him uncover the truth.
After a few dead ends, some surprising...

Once again one of Nate's girlfriends is hiding a dark past! Read on to find out the truth about Sage, Amira And what happened with Blair's first collection! The episode kicked off with Blair (Leighton Meester) preparing for "Wwd” day, but it just ended up being plain ol' “D” Day. A power shift occurred on the Oct. 15th episode and Blair found herself in a situation that not even her minions could help her get out of. Blair’s worst nightmare turns to reality when Nelly Yuki -- who Queen B bullied for years on the steps of the Met – was the reporter assigned to write a feature on Blair’s first collection for Women's Wear Daily. Oh how the tables have turned! But B of course wasn’t going to let that happen since she knew Nelly would only embarrass her in front of the entire fashion industry. Quick on her feet,...

Seeing as I'll be recapping the final season of Gossip Girl for all of you who are still holding out hope for a Chair endgame (don't worry, me too), it looks like we've got some final season casting scoop for ya.
According to TVLine.com, Barry Watson (yes, that dude from 7th Heaven) has signed for a multi-episode arc as Serena's new love interest. You know, as if she needed another one. His character's name is Steven Spence and he's a young entrepreneur. That's all we know.
It's easy to make jokes about this, but I won't even go there. You know why? Because Simon Camden (Aka David Gallagher) impressed the hell out of me as a werewolf on the last season of The Vampire Diaries. So no judgement here.
Besides, Serena's basically the worst person in the world now, so I don't really care if she's happy. Also, Give Nate A Storyline Please.

We'd heard rumblings that the final season of "Gossip Girl" might feature a solid love interest for Serena (Blake Lively) -- and now we know who is playing him!
"7th Heaven" star Barry Watson has landed the role of Serena's new beau, Steven Spence. TVLine reports that Spence is an "entrepreneur," but doesn't go into further detail about his trade.
Hmmmm.
Serena didn't exactly end Season 5 in a good place -- she'd just made a sex tape with her best friend's boyfriend (always a no-no) and seemed to be reverting to her former bad-girl ways. Could Spence be the guy who brings her back to earth? Or will he be a further bad influence? We'll find out on Monday, October 8, when "Gossip Girl" returns for its final season.
Do you think that Spence will be Serena's "endgame" romance? Or will she reunite with one of her former flames -- Dan...
