After the monumental success of The Dark Knight, reaching that height again with the next entry in the trilogy was never going to be an easy task for Christopher Nolan. And even though The Dark Knight remains the best in the series, The Dark Knight Rises, despite its issues, was a worthy successor, especially the opening aircraft hijack sequence with Tom Hardy’s Bane.
Like The Dark Knight‘s opening, the beginning minutes of the Tdkr give fans the introduction of the main antagonist, and for the latter, Nolan went way too extreme with his methods to attain practical effects. And considering it was first showcased as a sneak peek before Ml 4, fans recalled being in awe by the sequence, with some even mistaking Tdkr‘s opening a year later to be a rip-off of Ghost Protocol.

Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy remains a critically acclaimed superhero movie and a classic fan favorite. The actors’ performances were lauded, but what really impressed the viewers was the director’s use of practical effects.
Christian Bale as Batman
Nolan is known for avoiding special effects and computer-generated imagery as much as possible, so most of the stunts in his Batman films were realistic. In fact, the director labeled one of the most intense scenes in the film as his proudest moment because it was genuine.

In some years, the most action-packed, stunt-filled films are also ambitious enough to find their way into Oscar’s best picture category. But for every “1917” and “Mad Max: Fury Road” there are 10 “Fast and Furious” and “Taken” films — where the action is center piece.
Yet movies driven more by character and story than by fisticuffs and explosions still feature stunts, and they often come at crucial moments. While they may not require a Bond escape or a Bourne fight, they need to be dynamic and exciting while serving the context of the larger story.
This year’s best picture nominees included “Belfast” (riots and explosions), “Nightmare Alley” (brutal beatdowns and a vicious hit and run), “Power of the Dog” (men on horseback), “West Side Story”, “King Richard” and “Dune,” which with its futuristic sword play and scenes of war, is the one film on a blockbuster budget.

Josh Brolin shot a video showing off the set of director Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, and as you can see, it looks like the landscape of the story you’d image. It seems like a pretty awesome place to shoot the movie. I like how Brolin describes it aa an “ancient space.”
There’s an incredibly talented team of creative people working on Dune, and I have no doubt that this team is going to deliver an amazing film adaptation of Dune.

Production has officially started on Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune, and it’s been announced that Dark Knight and Inception composer Hans Zimmer will create the film’s score. Hans and Denis previously worked on Blade Runner 2049, so it makes sense that they would want to work together again.
Zimmer is a master composer and I love the scores that he has created for the films that he’s worked on. It’ll be cool to see what he ends up delivering for this one.
We also have a new synopsis to share with you that came from a recent press release:

Anil Kapoor is truly the apt definition of age just being a number! One of the fittest actors in the industry today, the veteran actor only seems to getting younger with time. Anil, who is returning to the Race franchise for the 3rd time has performed all the stunts by himself! His last outing as an action hero was the television series, 24 where we saw him perform some high voltage stunts.
Director Remo revealed how the actor took avid interest in every scene and refused to use a body double. Anil Kapoor’s entry scene was slated to be on a smaller scale, however Remo took a last minute call of upping the stakes after consulting with the stunt directors Tom Struthers and Anil Arsu.
“Anil sir refused to use any body double. The dedication that he showed was unparalleled. He even underwent special training in Abu Dhabi”, says Remo Dsouza.

Salman Khan, who is currently busy shooting for his upcoming next Race 3, has teamed up yet again with Hollywood action co-ordinator Tom Struthers for the film. Tom Struthers, who had earlier worked with Salman on Tiger Zinda Hai, has been roped in to choreograph the stunt sequences for the action-packed climax. Tom Struthers, who has worked on several films with Christopher Nolan like The Dark Knight Rises and Inception, along with Indian fight master Anal Arasu, is currently planning the film’s climax. Remo has been working in consultation with both of them. The trio (Remo, Tom and Anal) has been discussing ideas and putting the choreography for the action scenes in place for the last three months. They even reached Abu Dhabi much before others to make sure everything is in place and there’s no delay.

From aggressive hand-to-hand combat, to shooting in extreme climates in the desert and snow-capped mountains, to battling a pack of ferocious wild wolves, to the weapons and military vehicles, Tiger Zinda Hai is set to be an amazing action thriller. The mega action entertainer’s lead pair – superstar Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif – have pushed themselves to their limits to pull off never-seen-before, death-defying action stunts.
Salman and Katrina, who reprise the role of super-spies Tiger and Zoya, had to undergo intense training during each schedule with ace Hollywood technicians led by action director Tom Struthers. Playing ace intelligence agents, Tiger and Zoya, both had to remain in fighting fit, lean form to shoot extremely tough, demanding action sequences.

Yash Raj Films’ action entertainer, Tiger Zinda Hai, starring Katrina Kair and Salman Khan hits theaters on December 22nd. In fact, Salman has taken the action benchmark several notches higher with his most dangerous action sequence to date where he fights with a pack of wild wolves! Yes, you read that right!
The scene with wolves has been shot in the snow-capped forests of Austria. One of the top-most American action directors Tom Struthers who co-coordinated the action scenes of Leonardo DiCaprio in Blood Diamond and Inception, Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, Christian Bale in The Dark Knight Raises and Nicolas Cage in The Season Of The Witch is currently in Mumbai training Arjun Rampal and Irrfan Khan for never-before action scenes in Nikhil Advani's D Day. The film is about a ragged bunch of Raw agents who are sent by the Indian government to bring Dawood Ibrahim from Pakistan by road. The action scenes to be shot in Kutch, right next to where Sanjay Leela Bhansali would be shooting his spicy love story Ram Leela, are meant to be raw, edgy, intimately combative and yet sophisticated in the way trained agents fight when they encounter adversaries in unexpected locations. Says a source close to the project, "Nikhil Advani doesn't want the action...

Back in January 2011, it was rumoured that Eva Green and Naomi Watts were cast in The Dark Knight Rises in two lead roles thought to be Talia al Ghul and reporter Vicki Vale.
But that was swiftly contradicted by reports stating it was Anne Hathaway, Charlotte Riley, Gemma Arterton, Jessica Biel, Kate Mara and Keira Knightley who were in consideration.
Putting an end to the gossip, Warner Bros announced later that month that Anne Hathaway had been the actress selected from the list of contenders and that the part she was playing was in fact Selina Kyle aka Catwoman.
The character was a surprising choice because Catwoman is traditionally associated with more camp and flamboyant versions of Batman.
It's easy to remember Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt's purring performances in the 60s TV series (as well as Lee Meriwether in the show's film spin-off), followed by Michelle Pfeiffer's...

In the approximately eight years since Batman slipped away, Gotham has changed, though the city's calm can't be taken at face value. "Everything seems fine on the surface, but it's all built on this lie," according to producer Emma Thomas. "So 'The Dark Knight Rises' is about how that affects Gotham and how things begin to get worse once again."

"I want perfection. There's times you get close enough, and I am not really happy with that. It's nice when that's all [directors] need is 'good enough,' but I want perfect." That quote is from Jeremy Fry, the stunt driver/double for Ryan Gosling on last year's pulp-y action flick "Drive." Fry is just one of the many Hollywood stuntmen who put their life on the line every day in order to bring a sense of realness and danger to a movie. Unfortunately, when it comes to filming a choreographed explosion or chase scene, things don't always go according to plan. Sometimes that works out to their benefit (when Fry spoke with Moviefone last year, he described a scene in "Drive" where a car was supposed to flip over, but didn't. Luckily, the mess-up looked cool on camera, so director Nicolas Winding Refn decided to leave in). Other times, botched...
