Just a few minutes ago, news broke that the 54th New York Film Festival will play host to a big time unveiling of a major Academy Award contender. Yes, Nyff will be where Ang Lee’s next movie, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, will have its World Premiere. The 54th installment of this fest has already announced a trio of premieres, opening with The 13th, hitting its midpoint with 20th Century Women, and closing with The Lost City of Z, so this is very much like an added bonus. At the same time, it’s now easily the most high profile flick screening and an Oscar hopeful title worth paying a great deal of attention to. For those wondering, the film is an adaptation of the well regarded novel of the same name by Ben Fountain. Set mostly during Thanksgiving Day, it follows the title character Billy Lynn (newcomer...

In the lead up to the release of "Django Unchained," director Quentin Tarantino revealed that he considered quite a few names before settling on Jamie Foxx. Idris Elba, Chris Tucker, Terrence Howard, M[ichael] K. Williams, and Tyrese. were among those mentions, but the biggest one of all is Will Smith. In fact, the former Fresh Prince was one of the first names linked to the movie, but things didn't work out. Read More: Will Smith Says 'After Earth' Is The 'Most Painful Failure' Of His Career, Explains Why He No Longer Uses Method Acting "I came really close, it was one of the most amazing screenplays I had ever seen... Charlie Wilson's red coat. Kendrick Lamar and Miguel. Nicki Minaj's chair. And just where did Chris Tucker go?
There were a lot of memorable things about Sunday night's Bet Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles that are worth talking about Monday morning. Here are five to reflect on:
Charlie Wilson: The Gap Band singer and hip-hop producer's best friend, dubbed "Uncle Charlie" years ago by Snoop Dogg, wasn't content to just accept his lifetime achievement award. After dancing through a tribute from Stevie Wonder, Indie.Arie and Jamie Foxx and giving a long, inspiring speech, Timberlake persuaded Wilson to grab a mic. Wearing a fantastically bold red jacket and white pants, the 60-year-old took command of the show, performing a number of hits with assistance from Timberlake, Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams, including "You Dropped a Bomb on Me." We're not going to say Uncle...

Beverly Hills, Calif. — Karen Jackson and Kiki Stafford were moved to tears as they walked among the items that surrounded Michael Jackson in his final days: The Victorian baby grand piano, the wooden armoire where Jackson had written a note to himself on the mirror, the kitchen chalkboard where his children inscribed the message, "I love daddy."
Jackson, 57, and Stafford, 47, were among dozens of Michael Jackson fans who got an early look at items that will be sold at auction from the singer's final home – and left behind tributes to the King of Pop.
Julien's Auctions announced last month that it would sell the contents of the sprawling home where the singer died in 2009. On Sunday, the company invited Jackson fans to preview its exhibit of the home's art and furnishings before it opens to the public Monday. Fans were also invited to leave pictures, cards, flowers, notes and other...

So much for Will Smith: Quentin Tarantino has settled on the man he wants to star in Django Unchained and it’s not the Fresh Prince. Nope, now Jamie Foxx is in negotiations for the lead.Yes, despite spending weeks trying to lure Smith to star in his tale of a freed slave who goes up against a sadistic plantation owner to rescue his long-lost love, only for the actor to pass on snatching the role, the writer/director has been looking down the list of other possible candidates. And while Idris Elba, Terrence Howard and Chris Tucker all took meetings, it seems that Foxx, who has been mentioned before alongside the others, is the man.Leonardo DiCaprio is already attached to play the villainous Calvin Candie, while Inglourious Basterds’ Christoph Waltz had the role of Django’s friend and mentor, a German bounty hunter named Dr Schultz, written for him.

So… currently on RottenTomatoes, Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated, mind-bending heist thriller, Inception (in theaters this Friday), is enjoying an 89% “Fresh” rating; wait a minute, you mean there are actually some film critics out there who don’t like the film? *Gasp* Yes, there are, despite the wealth of accolades that have been heaped upon the film since press screenings began. Of the 61 critics who have reviewed the film thus far, 54 give it a thumbs up; 7 panned it. And guess who’s 1 of those 7?
My boy Armond White! He never disappoints!!! I see you bruh! Do you!
The title alone of his review should be a clue as to what to expect… wait for it… wait for it… he titled his critique, Despicable Inception, with the subtitle, Christopher Nolan’s two-and-a-half hour hackery.
Daaaaamn (said like Ice Cube and Chris Tucker in Friday)! Need I go on? As you can tell,...
