Before Christina Applegate was supermom and Maya Rudolph's righthand woman on NBC's "Up All Night"; before she was the critically acclaimed titular "Samantha Who?"; before she won an Emmy for portraying one of Rachel Green's sisters on "Friends"; before she was a fashion prodigy in the teen cult classic "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead"; and before she was Kelly Bundy, the world's most badass daughter on "Married ... With Children," the longtime actress had a few guest stints on some beloved '80s sitcoms.
Below, in honor of her "Saturday Night Live" hosting gig (Sat., Oct. 13 at 11:30 p.m. Et on NBC), check out a young Applegate in three early roles: as a slumber partygoer (with a very interesting lamp shade-inspired hairstyle) on "Charles in Charge," as Jennifer's keyboardist on an episode of "Family Ties" and as an institutionalized teen seducing Johnny Depp on "21 Jump Street."

Jennifer Aniston has signed a deal as a spokesmodel and investor of Massachusetts-based haircare product line Living Proof. The former Friends star has become well-known for her tresses ever since portraying the character of Rachel Green in the sitcom, which led to the coining of her signature hairstyle, 'The Rachel'. Aniston said: "Over the years, my hair has been subjected to everything... blow dryers, flat irons, curling irons, color, extensions, you name it. My hair has taken a serious beating. "After using these products, I felt like I finally (more)...

We do our best to tune out bitter veteran Hollywood blogger and hermit Nikki Finke, but sometimes she makes it just... too easy to call her out. In her completely unfunny live-blog of the Emmy Awards, presumably posted from a secret lair far beneath the streets of Los Angeles, Finke wrote that beautiful women (like Emmy winner Julie Bowen) can not be funny.
Her tirade went like this:
"Listen-up, Hollywood: Beautiful actresses are not funny. They don't know how to do comedy. (As Bowen demonstrated with her acceptance speech that repeated the phrase 'nipple covers' 3 dozen times. To zero laughter.) Only women who grew up ugly and stayed ugly, or through plastic surgery became beautiful, can pull off sitcoms or standups. Bowen isn't a comedienne just like Brooke Shields wasn't and a zillion more. Because it's all about emotional pain and humiliation and rising above both by making people laugh...

We know it's hot in Las Vegas. But Miley Cyrus must have been really warm on the red carpet at Sunday's (May 20) Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas.
Cyrus went the suit-jacket-with-nothing-underneath route on the red carpet. And we really mean nothing.
We've seen that before, but usually the wearer has her legs covered. Miley? Not so much.
The jacket/minidress certainly stands out, we'll give her that. And for someone who's trying to break away from the teenybopper image, it's a pretty savvy choice. (Also, her hair looked very nice, in a Rachel Green-circa-Season 2 of "Friends" kind of way.)
We just hope she doesn't get cold inside the arena.
What do you think of Miley's red-carpet look?...

Jennifer Aniston almost missed out on her breakthrough role in hit sitcom Friends because she was contracted to star on another TV show when she was offered the part as Rachel Green.
NBC network bosses immediately thought of Aniston as the perfect person to portray Green when they were presented with the comedy and they cast her alongside co-stars Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer.
But she had yet to sign a contract with NBC to officially join the show by the time it was ready to go into production in 1994, and TV executive Warren Littlefield admits they took a huge risk keeping Aniston on the project instead of simply recasting the role - because they weren't completely sure if she'd be able to quit her other job.
In an interview on U.S. breakfast show Today on Friday, he said, "We had a little difficulty. She had actually signed on to do a series at CBS and we had to take her in second position. We did the pilot that way, and she still wasn't available.
"We had to go into series production throwing millions of dollars at risk and we still did not have the rights to go forward with Jennifer."
Aniston was eventually able to commit to Friends and the programme went on to become one of the most popular sitcoms of all time, winning multiple awards, including Emmy and Golden Globe honours - and launching her career.

It’s impossible to imagine watching an episode of Friends without seeing the familiar faces of Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow and Matt Leblanc. The chemistry generated between the gang made it one of the most iconic lineups in TV history. Hell, they’re like the Beatles of situation comedies! John, Paul, George and Kevin just doesn’t have the same ring to it, y’know? So by the same token, it’s a little jarring to see the original casting choices for the legendary show.
The news comes to us from the folks at Vanity Fair, who are running an “oral history” of the series in their latest issue. It’s definitely fascinating to see how television history might have turned out. Could Jon Cryer have been a snarkier Chandler? Would Tea Leoni have made a better Rachel? Tantalizing questions indeed! Click under the...

Jennifer Aniston's looks are undeniably one of the most emulated in Hollywood. At 43 years old, Jen still looks better than most starlets half her age -- but just how much does that cost her?
Good genetics aside, Ontd broke down the cost of Jen's often talked-about beauty routine -- and it costs a whopping $143,037 ... per year.
So just what is she spending all this money on?
Jennifer Aniston's Fashion Rut
Besides two confirmed nose jobs for her "deviated septum" (the same affliction Ashlee Simpson and Ashley Tisdale are cursed with too I bet), some of her more extravagant splurges include haircuts from celebrity stylist Chris McMillan, the creator of the infamous "The Rachel." Though he owns a salon in Beverly Hills, haircuts from McMillan himself cost $600, and that's not including the upkeep of her signature beach blond highlights. Jen's colorist Michael Canale's rates start at $320 a session, so a trip...

She may have initially made her mark playing New Yorker Rachel Green on Friends, but that doesn't mean the Big Apple was the right place for Jennifer Aniston.
"We tried New York," the Wanderlust star, referring to herself and Justin Theroux, said Friday on Australian radio's The Kyle and Jackie O Show in Sydney, but "it felt like I was [living] in a fishbowl."
And while, "Justin still has an apartment there . It was a little rough with the paparazzi. It didn't feel like the New York I grew up in and knew," notes Aniston, 43, who now calls L.A. home.
As a result, Aniston's current happiness level is at "10-plus," she says, and her Zen approach to life is also a contributing factor.

Jennifer Aniston played the character of Rachel Green, on "Friends" for 10 years and she admits she "owes everything to her," but don't expect her to reprise the role anytime soon.
Like her former co-star Matt LeBlanc, the 43-year-old actress doesn't see a "Friends" reunion movie ever happening. "I can't imagine how you would do it, unless you did it years from now. Then it would be: 'Who are these guys? What are we watching?' I can't imagine what that would be," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "It's not normal. Everyone's favorite girl next door was immortalized today: Jennifer Aniston received the 2,462nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!Looking spring-ready in a flowy, print dress, the 43-year-old got emotional when thanking her friends, family and fans for supporting her through her career. Since her role as Rachel Green on Friends, Jennifer Aniston has always been known as the nice girl next door. But, in recent years, Aniston has made active moves towards breaking out of that stigma.
The nice girl turned naughty is now setting her sights on a new crime story adapted from Elmore Leonard’s novel The Switch. It is a truth universally acknowledged by all sitcom fans that NBC has some major issues to work out.
In the 1990's NBC was the home of "Must See TV." Their programming slate was anchored by powerhouse sitcoms like Cheers, Seinfeld, Frasier, Will & Grace, and of course, Friends.
Nowadays, shows like 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation and Community are the favorites of comedy nerds and critics alike, but they fail to bring in the ratings that CBS's machine of multi-camera fare does. When Whitney debuted last fall, it caused a wave of anxiety in the hearts of many alternative comedy fans because it signaled that NBC wanted to perhaps transition away from expensive single-camera fare. The single-camera sitcom typically costs more to produce (in both time and money) and presently seems to bring in higher ratings.

Unfortunately for Nick, Kurt and Dale, the only thing that would make the daily grind more tolerable would be to grind their intolerable bosses into dust. Quitting is not an option, so, with the benefit of a few-too-many drinks and some dubious advice from a hustling ex-con, the three friends devise a convoluted and seemingly foolproof plan to rid themselves of their respective employers…permanently.
There’s only one problem: even the best laid plans are only as foolproof as the brains behind them.

London, Oct 19: Jennifer Aniston stole the show at Elle Annual Women in Hollywood event on Tuesday night, and easily managed to outfox her seven years younger pal Reese Witherspoon.

I hope those terrified looks aren't an indication of the entire season
Last night, we were treated to not one, but Two new episodes of How I Met Your Mother – and, despite one major surprise (I'll get to that later), the show didn't break new ground. The one thing I have learned from the past six seasons of this show is that the writers are good at keeping us invested in this guessing game. Ultimately, the Himym has become the Lost of half-hour sitcoms, but instead of a mysterious island, the audience is trying to crack the code of the mysterious mother.
When we last left the Himym gang, Ted (Josh Radnor) just broke up with his girlfriend and was on his way to being a great architect, Lily and Marshall (Alyson Hannigan and Jason Segel) just found out they had a baby on the way, Barney (Neil Patrick Harris...

It’s been almost three and a half decades since Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope hit the big screens and took the world by storm, and in all of the years following, the series of six films has penetrated pop culture across the world in a way that very, very few films or franchises are ever able to.
Like it or not, there are literally thousands of references to the Star Wars series in the films and television programmes we watch, the books we read, and the music we listen to. With so many references, homages, and parodies to choose from, it would be enormously difficult, if not impossible, to come up with a definitive list of them all.
So instead, to coincide with the films’ Blu-Ray release, I present to you the Awards for the Best Pop Culture References to Star Wars, as voted for by me.

To have a hit sitcom, there seems to be one crucial ingredient: sex.
Sometimes there's a lot of it ("Sex and the City") and sometimes there's not a lot of it ("Everybody Loves Raymond") but, in whatever quantity, sex plays a very large role.
In the typical sitcom formula, there's usually just one insatiable character who is viewed with a mix of scorn and envy. But it's rare for everyone to score.
Except for one.
A recent study shows that the cast of the NBC hit series, "Friends" has gotten laid a ton. All told, after 10 seasons, the Central-Perk-Dwelling crew had a whooping 85 partners.
The individual break-down of this figure is pretty much what we'd expect.
Joey, played by Matt LeBlanc, came in first with 17 partners. (Just 17?) And only 23.5 percent ended up long-term relationships. Further vindicating the How you doin? pick-up line.
Oddly, the ditzy Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow) and...

Jennifer Aniston has appealed to her Horrible Bosses co-star Kevin Spacey to find her a role on the London stage, insisting she would "love to" return to her theatre roots.
The star began her career working in small Off Broadway productions in New York before finding fame as Rachel Green on Friends, and she admits that working with Spacey, who serves as artistic director at the Old Vic theatre in the British capital, has reignited her passion for the stage - and now she's just waiting for the perfect script to come her way.
And she knows exactly where she wants to make her British theatre debut.
Aniston says, "I started at theatre in New York, in things that aren't remembered but yeah, I love the theatre and I would love to go back to it. If the right thing presented itself... yes - with Kevin, at the Old Vic."...

The 'Horrible Bosses' actress played Rachel Green for 10 years until 2004, and while she doesn't think there will be a reunion, she knows all the cast have fond memories of the sitcom.
Jennifer – who starred alongside Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer - said: “'Friends' is there all the time, especially in the UK. It gave us so much. It was one of the greatest things we all ever did, and it might very well be one of the greatest jobs we’ll ever have.”
The 42-year-old beauty – who was in London yesterday (20.07.11) to attend the European premiere of 'Horrible Bosses' - also revealed how she is now much calmer than she was when she was in 'Friends', which puts down to being older.
Speaking on UK TV show 'Daybreak’, she said: “Most women I know do (feel calmer), to tell you the truth.

Horrible Bosses centres on Nick (Jason Bateman), Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) and Dale (Charlie Day): three best friends who want nothing more than to be free of their intolerable bosses. When every permissible route has been attempted, the trio devise a dastardly and seemingly foolproof plan to rid themselves of their respective employers… permanently. But, as they soon find out, plans are easier devised than followed through.
While the premise starts off as a simplistic and mundane everyday comedy, it quickly (and welcomely) develops into something far more devilish and sinister. Screenwriters Michael Markowitz, John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein may not bring a whole lot of plausibility or realism to the table, and you may find yourself scratching your head at the film’s outlandish ideas, but their zealous efforts go towards creating something bold, eccentric and ahead of the game.

Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis star as the three hapless workers, with Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell and two-time Oscar® winner Kevin Spacey, as their unbearable bosses. Oscar® winner Jamie Foxx stars as the plotters’ unlikely mentor, whose street cred is priced on a sliding scale.

In the raucous new comedy Horrible Bosses (in theaters today) Jennifer Aniston pulls off, in addition to her clothes, some rather impressive comedic feats. Playing against-type as a sexually aggressive dentist, she not only holds her own against a top-notch boys club, but she also silences her skeptics who argue she’s nothing more than a hair-do.
Even though Aniston is one of the most famous faces in the world, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a trace of her sweetness in Horrible Bosses. (And no, not because her hair looks different.) While the 42-year-old has done some fine work...

In looking at the cast of "Horrible Bosses," it makes sense that funnymen like Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day and Jason Bateman would be attached to a film that revolves around three guys trying to kill their three very horrible bosses. Even supporting players Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx are folks who don't surprise us in taking on the raunchier territory that comes with an R rating.

When Jennifer Aniston made the transition from the small screen to the big screen, there was always the looming dilemma of whether she’d ever be able to escape her iconic (hair cut and all) Friends character Rachel Green. And while her role as a dentist who sexually harasses her employee (Charlie Day) in this weekend’s hilarious, raunchy comedy Horrible Bosses most certainly proves she can (Rachel may have hit on her assistant Tag, but never like this), there’s still no way of ever totally escaping Rachel. But Aniston is okay with that.
