Paradigm has hired Kyle Jensen as a Literary Content Agent and Jamie Kaye-Phillips as a Theatre Literary Content Agent, upping Matthew Nutty from Coordinator to Agent in the Talent department.
Additionally, Napoli Management Group, a division of Paradigm Media Entertainment, has tapped Brian Neal as an agent. A 23-year veteran of the television news industry, he’ll in his new role rep all levels of on-air talent in the national broadcast news space.
Jensen and Nutty will be based out of the agency’s Los Angeles office, with Kaye-Phillips working out of New York. Where Neal will be based is not yet clear.
The hirings follow December’s announcement that Todd Eisner, a 30-year veteran talent agent, had joined Paradigm from the now-folded A3. Over the past year, Paradigm has been staffing up with the hires of Chris Till and Neil A. Cohen, as well as internal promotions, having elevated 14 agents to Partner.

This Is Halloween: The Gateway Horrors of ‘Cobweb’ and ‘The Curse of Bridge Hollow’ [Double Trouble]
I grew up on Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, and Goosebumps. These gateway horrors opened up a whole new world for me. The trembling fear I endured when Carly Beth slid on that terrifying green mask still lingers with me even now. And I’ll never forget the chills I felt running down my spine when Sarah launched into “Come Little Children” or the penetrating gaze of Kalabar that seemed to cut into my soul. These images provoked something in me, conspiring to lure me into horror – and I’ve never left. I might be 30-something now, but I can still enjoy nice little gateway horror movies, especially when they’re as compelling as the Halloween-set Cobweb and The Curse of Bridge Hollow.
In Cobweb, screenwriter Chris Thomas Devlin stages an epically creepy story about a young boy named Peter (Woody Norman), whose parents Carol (Lizzy Caplan) and Mark (Antony Starr) rule with a stringent hand.

The décor is tired of being neglected this Halloween season. A restless spirit with malintent uses any and every Halloween decoration and animatronic in its path to wreak havoc upon a small town. While Netflix’s The Curse of Bridge Hollow shares a similar premise to another family-friendly, novelty Halloween flick this Fall, its execution is far more energetic and fun.
The Howards have just moved to the quaint town of Bridge Hollow, just in time for Halloween. That’s excellent news for teen Sydney; her keen interest in the supernatural means she’s excited to see the entire block decked out with perfectly themed Halloween lawn displays. Her skeptic dad, Howard (Marlon Wayans), prefers science over superstition and is far less enthused about the Halloween revelry. It also means that father and daughter struggle to see eye to eye, often leaving mom Emily (Kelly Rowland) to referee. But when...

Photo: ‘Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers' From Saturday Morning Fare to Satire ‘Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers’ was a show that I have very foggy memories of watching a few times when I was very young. Based on Disney’s classic chipmunk duo Chip and Dale, the show featured a reimagining of the two as being part of a detective agency alongside a few new characters. Together, they would go about, solving criminal cases and helping out both fellow animals and humans. Being part of the Disney Afternoon Block of the 90s, the series was fairly popular and is well-remembered by people who grew up with it to this day. In 2014, filmmaker Robert Rugan pitched a live-action/animated hybrid film based on the show that apparently would’ve served as an origin story detailing how the titular Rescue Rangers came to be. Despite being greenlit, details on this adaptation went...

There are a few rules in the House of Mouse. If you’re not a pretty pretty princess, some grand creation concocted by Pixar or Mickey and his main friends themselves, you probably haven’t been getting a lot of attention over the last few years. But even Disney understands that you shouldn’t pass up the opportunity to revive something that was popular in the 1990s. Ah yes, did you hear that? It’s the sound of a thousand true 90s kids collectively remembering. Disney has decided to revive Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers for a new generation, transforming the cartoon about the two little chipmunks into a live action CG hybrid film. Though Chip and Dale have appeared in Disney cartoons going as far back as a 1943 short film, their real time to shine was in the 90s television series, where the twosome ran the tiniest detective agency and helped rescue their animal clients — cases...

(Cbr) Disney plans to return Chip ‘n’ Dale to the big screen in a full-length feature that blends live-action and CG animation. According to The Hollywood Reporter, award-winning commercials director Robert Rugan is writing the script, based on his own pitch. Mandeville Films/TV, the Disney-based production company behind the recent Muppets revival, is producing. Chip ‘n’ Dale, two chipmunks who frequently ran afoul of Donald Duck, debuted in the 1943 animated short “Private Pluto” before going on to star in 22 more that spanned more than a decade. The duo underwent an update in 1989 for the animated television series "Chip...

Children of the 90s remember the theme song, and now a new generation just might become acquainted with a new chipmunk team on the big screen. While everyone is familiar with Alvin and the Chipmunks and their disastrous live-action, CG hybrid film franchise, Disney has their own team of chipmunks with ties to nostalgia as well. The duo of Chip 'n' Dale appeared in various Disney shorts in the 1940s and 1950s, but they found a much bigger audience when they became Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers, running a detective agency and saving animal friends. Now that action adventure iteration is headed for the big screen. If you need something to be stuck in your head all day, here's the animated series' title sequence: THR has word that commercials director Robert Rugan will write the new version that will act as an origin story of our heroes. R.I.P. Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote) was found dead in his home in Manhattan yesterday morning of an alleged drug overdose. He was 46. Deadline reports that Hoffman was discovered in the bathroom of his apartment by an unidentified friend and that a hypodermic needle and what appeared to be heroin were found at the scene. Hoffman leaves behind his three children with costume designer Mimi O’Donnell: Cooper (11), Tallulah (7) and Willa (6).
Some of Hoffman's ongoing projects have been shelved, while others continue on. Only yesterday, we reported that Hoffman's planned second feature as a director, Ezekial Moss, was moving forward with Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams in starring roles. With his passing, Exclusive Media has dropped the movie that Hoffman spent over a year working on with writer Keith Bunin. The Alvin and the Chipmunks and Smurfs adaptations made money, so Disney is turning Chip ‘n’ Dale into a feature film that blends live-action and CG. I remember these guys from the Disney Afternoon, when they were the Rescue Rangers, good times. They first appeared in 1943 until they were reintroduced as having formed a detective agency. I would hope they go that route for the movie, detecting is always fun when little furry creatures do it.
Heat Vision reports that Disney has acquired a pitch from Robert Rugan, he has a number of awards under his belt for his work writing and directing shorts and the indie feature, Alice’s Misadventures in Wonderland. For those of a certain age, the cheeky Disney Chipmunks Chip & Dale are synonymous with the cartoon series Chip ‘n' Dale: Rescue Rangers. The Mouse House is now hoping to mine that particular vein of nostalgia with a film version of Chip 'n' Dale that will blend CG versions of the characters with live-action environments.Ads director Robert Rugan has pitched an updated version of the concept, one that would serve as a sort of origin story for the pair’s detective agency, which specialises in helping fellow animals. No, we don’t blame you if horrified – or po ssiblydelighted – visions of the Alvin And The Chipmunks movies are running through your head as we relate this news. Disney is planning to revive animated duo Chip 'n Dale for a feature-length film.

The film will be a hybrid of live-action and CGI animation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Disney-based production company Mandeville Films and Television is said to be producing the film.

Chip 'n Dale first appeared in a 1943 animated short and went on to feature in many Disney cartoons.

Disney will be developing a live-action feature film based on the classic 1990's animated series Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers. They picked up a pitch from commercial director Robert Rugan, who will write and possibly direct the updated take on the characters. The plan is to develop it as a live-action and CGI hybrid film.
I grew up watching this cartoon along with several others when animated series were freakin' awesome. The show ran for three fun seasons. As cool as it is to hear that a movie is getting made, let's face it, most live-action CGI hybrid movies suck. But, they are successful at the box office, so it's no surprise that Disney wants to do it.
All we know about the story of the film at this point is that it will tell an origin story of the duo. I'm not expecting much from the film,...

Disney’s classic cartoon duo, Chip ‘n’ Dale, are set to return on the big screen. Robert Rugan, an award-winning commercial director, recently pitched a revival to the House of Mouse in the form of a live-action/CG production, and the studio has jumped on board. Mandeville Films, responsible for the recently-resuscitated Muppets franchise, are set to produce.
Chip ‘n’ Dale‘s history with Disney goes all the way back to the ’40s, but the cartoon never saw mainstream success until 1989′s Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers. That show portrayed the duo as private detectives; Chip was the smart one, and Dale was the wacky one. Rescue Rangers consisted of three seasons in which Chip and Dale helped out distressed animal clients. The show then enjoyed a very long and successful syndication run. Rugan’s film will reportedly utilize the original show’s detective concept and tell the duo’s origin story.

Dan Gutman.s The Genius Files is the latest hit teen-lit series that will be making the leap from the page to the screen as Hollywood continues to scratch the itch triggered by the financial successes of The Twilight Saga and The Hunger Games. THR reports that up-and-coming commercial director Robert Rugan has just been hired by Warner Bros. to bang out the screenplay for the first installment of Genius Files on screen, with an eye toward handing the script off to someone else to direct. Warner Bros. is adapting the popular children’s book series The Genius Files (written by Dan Gutman) into a possible big-budget franchise. They’ve hired commercial director Robert Rugan to write the screenplay, although currently there’s no plans for him to direct the project should it get the greenlight.
THR describes the plot:
“[The Genius Files] revolves around 12-year-old twins who are recruited to be part of a secret government experiment that uses young geniuses to solve complex national problems. The pair must fight for their lives while on a road trip with their family.”
They solve complex national problems? Like the fiscal cliff and gun control? Cool! Er, what’s that?…. ohhh, you mean they’re like Spy Kids, fighting Alan Cumming and stop-motion monsters? That’s cool too, I guess.

I’m not at all familiar with the novel on which this film is based, but I’m beginning to think that I should correct that problem as soon as humanly possible. The trailer for Robert Rugan’s off-beat comedy “Buddy Holly is Alive and Well on Ganymede” looks pretty darn strange, which, if you know me, is a definite selling point. What’s more, the film features Jon Heder in the lead role, another good way to ensure that my undivided attention has been properly ensnared. Did I mention that I actually own a copy of “Benchwarmers” and “Mama’s Boy” on DVD? I hope you won’t hold that bit of information against me. Here’s the lowdown on the plot: Oliver Vale was conceived on February 3, 1959, the day that Buddy Holly died. Exactly thirty years later, Buddy Holly appears on every television set in the world, on every channel.

Combine a comedic, out-of-print science fiction book, and the uncertain star power of Jon Heder, and what will you get? I'm not sure, but I don't think it'll be Moon.
Variety reports that Heder has nabbed the lead in Buddy Holly is Alive and Well on Ganymede, an adaptation of Bradley Denton's 1992 sci-fi novel that'll be directed by newcomer Robert Rugan. I'll confess right up front that I vaguely remember the title, but never read it. But since the book is out of print, I'm not going to be uncool or alone in that club.
The story follows an ordinary man named Oliver Vale, who has his life turned upside down when Buddy Holly takes over all television stations and declares himself not only to be alive (on Ganymede, presumably) but insists that Vale is the only man who can interpret his message. Vale becomes pursued by evil aliens,...

We haven't heard much from Jon Heder recently, but don't worry, he's still in the acting biz. In fact, he's set to star in "Buddy Holly Is Alive and Well on Ganymede."
The film is based on Bradley Denton comic sci-fi novel, and Heder will play Oliver Vale, a geek whose life changes when Buddy Holly shows up everywhere on TV and announces Vale is the only one knowing why this is going on.
Variety reports Robert Rugan, who wrote the script, will direct the film. Heder hasn't done anything awesome since his glorious effort in "Napoleon Dynamite."
One of his more recent films was "Mama's Boy," and boy, did that one stink. He will also appear in Mark Steven Johnson's "When in Rome."...

We thought that these two stories yesterday were kinda weird, but Hollywood has outdone itself today: Jon Heder is starring in Buddy Holly Is Alive And Well On Ganymede, a new sci-fi comedy.Based on the novel by Bradley Denton, the story kicks off with a mysterious TV broadcast of Buddy Holly, who claims to be alive and well and living on Ganymede. He names Oliver Vale (Heder), an ordinary geek, as the guy who'll explain the whole thing - only Vale has no idea what's going on, as he finds himself pursued by angry aliens in disguise, a robot dog, an assassin, a motorcycle gang and a televangelist. Shudder: televangelists are scary. The whole thing's being written and directed by Robert Rugan, who previously made the short film Deadly Squids From Beyond Saturn and the feature-length Alice's Misadventures In Wonderland. Clearly, the guy picks his projects on the basis of ace titles,...

Jon Heder, best known for playing the title role in Napoleon Dynamite, has signed on to star in an adaptation of Bradley Denton's comic sci-fi novel Buddy Holly Is Alive and Well on Ganymede. Robert Rugan wrote the screenplay adaptation and will direct. Heder will shoot the film when he has time off from his untitled Comedy Central sitcom. The official plot synopsis follows "February 3rd, 1959 was the "day the music died." It was also marked the day when our hero, Oliver Vale, was conceived in the back seat of a car. And from that moment forward, he was raised to fervently believe in personal freedom, UFOs, higher consciousness and, of course, the power of rock n rock. Exactly thirty years from his conception, Oliver turns on the TV only to find Buddy Holly on every channel, broadcasting nonstop from Ganymede, a moon of Jupiter. Buddy's message to the world?...

Although his breakout role of Napoleon Dynamite did have a Buddy Holly thing going, Jon Heder won't be playing the singing legend but will be hopping on board Caspian Pictures' Alive And Well, based on Bradley Denton's humorous sci-fi novel "Buddy Holly Is Alive and Well on Ganymede". The full title sounds funnier... Written and directed by Robert Rugan from a treatment by Denton himself, the story follows an electronics salesman's quest to save the Earth from an Alien plot after...
