The name’s Bond. James Bond. And if you want to play him, you better nail the James Bond screen test, which involves acing a key scene from 1963’s From Russia with Love.
At a recent event at the British Film Institute to commemorate the James Bond franchise’s 60th anniversary, producer Michael G. Wilson went into details about the casting process and which scene is always used to gauge whether or not a potential James Bond has what it takes. “We always use the same scene…and that’s the one in From Russia With Love, where Bond comes back to his room after the assassination, and he starts taking off his shirt, goes into the room to bathe. Then he hears something, takes his gun, goes in and the girl’s in the bed.” And you have now just pictured Idris Elba performing that scene is a James Bond screen test…...

James Bond film producer Michael G. Wilson, who runs Eon Productions with Barbara Broccoli, has revealed that a seduction scene from the 1963 thriller From Russia With Love is always used to test those aspiring to play Ian Fleming’s ruthless spy.
During an ‘In Conversation’ event at London’s British Film Institute to celebrate 60 years of James Bond, Wilson noted that they always need a good actress to play opposite the actor participating in the audition.

While we have no idea when we’ll see the next James Bond movie, or who will be playing the part when we do, the one thing that we know for sure is that there will be another James Bond movie. So where will the next chapter in the life of the immortal super spy take us? While the filmmakers are only in the early stages of crafting the story, it appears that you can guess the plot if you can answer one question correctly: "What are you afraid of?" Besides spiders, we mean. Bond producer Gregg Wilson was on hand in London for an auction of props and memorabilia that was part of Spectre, Daniel Craig’s latest, and perhaps last, outing as James Bond. As part of that, Scandinavian site Filmweb asked Wilson about the next chapter in the franchise. We’ve just ...

Sony Pictures and MGM are definitely going to make another James Bond film, it’s only a matter of time. We just don’t really know who will be involved with it. Earlier this month a rumor hit that said Daniel Craig might not come back to reprise his role. This would make sense because he gave a series of interviews in which he sounded like he never wanted to play the character again. It doesn’t sound like Sam Mendes will be back to direct Bond 25 either.
Regardless of all that, associate producer Gregg Wilson has revealed in an interview with filmweb.no that they are already in early development on the film. He offered an update on their progress:
“We’ve just begun to doodle with ideas for the next movie. Each script process begins when we ask ourselves the question ‘what is the world afraid of now?...

To say last year’s Spectre was a let-down would be a colossal understatement. With its bloated runtime, boring villain, and bizarrely tangled mythology, it was James Bond repurposed for the Marvel age, a film that wanted to honor its heritage while scribbling haphazardly over it. Viewers cried foul, and rightly so – the film inexplicably missed everything appealing about the Bond character.
Needless to say, producers are scrambling to wash the bad taste out of fans’ mouths as soon as possible, so conversations are already taking place about the plot of Bond 25, which will bring back Daniel Craig for one more adventure and (hopefully) send the actor’s run as 007 out on a high note.

Though producers have Christoph Waltz’s Blofeld to play with if they so desire, there have been no concrete details as of yet related to the direction Bond 25 will go in.

Hot off the heels of Spectre being out, it appears as of discussion of a 25th Bond film has already begun. Gregg Wilson stated in an interview how "doodles" for Spectre have begun, and how they're currently considering what earth shattering options they're planning to include in the story for James Bond to work his way out of and defeat.
"We've just begun to doodle with ideas for the next movie. Each script process begins when we ask ourselves the question: 'What is the world afraid of now?' In the case of Spectre the theme was global monitoring and utilization of information. So now we are trying to find out what will be relevant in the coming years. We always want to do something new with the Bond character and see him in situations we have not seen him in the past. We must give the audience something new every time.

However you feel about it, there's little doubt "Spectre" was a misfire for the Bond franchise - critically dismissed and suffering decidedly weaker box-office than its far better received predecessor "Skyfall". With actor Daniel Craig's future with the franchise uncertain, the series stands at a crossroads with many wondering where it will go next and how it will recover from last year's stumble.
Associate producer Gregg Wilson, son of Eon's Michael G. Wilson and his likely successor, spoke with Norwegian site filmweb.no (via Birth Movies Death) this week and discussed where the twenty-fifth film now stands:

The first hints as to the direction of the next James Bond film after Spectre...
The 24th James Bond adventure, Spectre, arrives on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK next week. Its box office take didn’t quite match that of the 23rd film, Skyfall, and nor did the reviews in truth. But still, you’d be hard pushed to call it anywhere close to a failure, and the film has no shortage of fans.
Speculation is currently rife as to whether Daniel Craig will return for a fifth outing as James Bond, especially given his commitment to a new TV series, Purity. You can read more on that here.
However, as far as Eon – the company behind the Bond films – is concerned, it’s business as usual. Gregg Wilson, son of producer Michael G Wilson, and himself associate producer for 007, was chatting to Filmweb in Norway,...

Bond 24: Meet the new cast of Spectre
Associate producer Gregg Wilson said: "We have to deliver an amazing sequence and this is going to be one of the major action sequences of the movie, a jewel in the crown so to speak.
"It's going to be spectacular and Austria seemed to offer everything that we needed to pull it off."
Production designer Dennis Gassner added: "The thing that Sam and I talked about was how we are going to top Skyfall. It's going to be Spectre and so far it's a great start.
"I think that we are going to continue the history of the Bond films, making things that are exciting for the audience to look at, and what...

The 23rd and latest James Bond film "Skyfall" hits cinemas in the UK today after a tidal wave of rave reviews from American and European media.
With the MGM financial struggles behind them, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are quickly moving the pieces in place to ensure "Bond 24" will be ready for release as soon as possible.
To that effect, The Daily Mail reports that a schedule has already been put in place that would see the next film begin shooting around this time next year for an October or November 2014 release.
It's an understandable push back to the 'every other year' strategy the franchise has tried to stick with over the years. The four year gap between "Quantum Of Solace" and "Skyfall" marked the second longest period between entries in the franchise.

The twenty-third James Bond film, Skyfall, was released in the UK today (you can check out our review here) and already planning is well underway for its untitled follow-up Bond 24.
According to The Daily Mail, writer John Logan, who did some rewrites on Skyfall, has been tapped to write the script and shooting is set to begin next fall with a fall 2014 release date.
This comes hot on the heels of a recent comment from Skyfall associate producer, Gregg Wilson, who stated ‘it would be a dream’ to have director Christopher Nolan helm the next installment.
Actor Daniel Craig is already on board to make his fourth appearance as the intrepid super-spy, and reportedly, only he and a handful of others know the story for the film.

Given that, hey, Sam Mendes was directly inspired by The Dark Knight when he went ahead and made Skyfall, Christopher Nolan seems like a serious contender to helm James Bond’s next outing. Fans have been suggesting the idea for a good while now, anyway, and even Nolan has mentioned before that he’s a big Bond fan and would be interested in taking on a 007 movie.
That’s all been somewhat hyperbolic, though, given that these things are often just too good to be true. There’s hope to this rumor, however, given a recent comment from Bond associate producer Gregg Wilson (who we’ve never heard of either):
“We would of course be interested to have a discussion with him. We would like to do the same type of movie. It would be a dream to be with Nolan. But we always have an open mind when it comes to directors.

Back in June, "The Dark Knight" director Christopher Nolan revealed that he would love an opportunity to direct an installment in the James Bond franchise, but cautioned that it would have to be "the right situation and the right time." Now in an interview with DigitalSpy, Gregg Wilson, who is an associate producer on "Skyfall" and the son of long-time James Bond producer Michael G. Wilson, has revealed that there is strong interest in having Nolan direct a future Bond film. "We would be interested to have a discussion with him," said Wilson. "It would be a dream to be with Nolan." Sam Mendes recently stated that he will likely not return after "Skyfall," but hinted that it won't be impossible to convince him otherwise. In other words, if "Skyfall" is a hit and Mendes is paid enough money, he would return. Mendes previously said that "Skyfall" is heavily influenced by Nolan's "The Dark Knight.

Skyfall producer Gregg Wilson would love to have Christopher Nolan direct future Bond films.
In a recent interview, Wilson, son of renown Bond producer and screenwriter Michael G. Wilson, said that it would be a dream to have Nolan at the helm of future James Bond installments.
“We would of course be interested to have a discussion with him. We would like to do the same type of movie. It would be a dream to be with Nolan. But we always have an open mind when it comes to directors.”
In 2010, while doing press for Inception, Nolan told the BBC that he would be interested in directing a Bond picture. He said:
“I’ve loved the Bond films since I was a kid. For me, they’re always about expansiveness of cinema. The first Bond films set up infinite possibilities about the world they create. I’d love to do a Bond film.

We've heard before that Christopher Nolan was interested in directing a James Bond film at some point in his career and it turns out that Bond is just as interested in Christopher Nolan. And if Skyfall director Sam Mendes was indeed influenced by Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight then it makes since for producers to look at the inspiring auteur if they're pleased with Skyfall's finished product. The film's assoicate-producer Gregg Wilson, son of long-time Bond producer Michael G.
