DC head and the director of the upcoming film Superman James Gunn has firmly dismissed the possibility of including several songs in the new movie, notably David Bowie’s Starman, which fans have been eagerly looking forward to. The song has been featured in multiple movies and shows over the years along with many viral Superman fan edits. Fans even wanted Gunn to use the song for the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

However, he has denied that he would not use the song in the upcoming film. While fans continue to express their wish for the song to be featured in the David Corenswet-starring superhero film, Gunn has remained steadfast in his decision.

As soon as Saw X, the tenth entry in the Saw franchise (you can read our review Here), was released last September, franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules were already talking about the potential of a Saw XI. The official announcement came in December, along with a release date: September 27th. But over the last few months, the filmmakers have come to realize they need some extra time to make Saw XI something special, so the release has been pushed back a year, to September 26, 2025. So Lionsgate has unveiled a teaser trailer asking fans to play the waiting game, and you can check it out in the embed above.

James Bond isn’t just another name. It’s an entire legacy on its own. Stemmed from Ian Fleming’s novels, the British secret agent quickly became a household name, and eventually, a huge part of the film industry. Seven actors have had their turn of bringing the character to life but it all started with Sean Connery all the way back in 1962.
Sean Connery as James Bond in Dr. No (1962)
While Sean Connery’s portrayal of the character still remains an iconic one, Ian Fleming was initially not his biggest fan. In fact, when Sean Connery was finally cast as James Bond, the author was quick to comment that the actor was not the “elegant man” he had quite hoped for. To top it all off, Ian Fleming was actually interested in another actor altogether!

The Story: A New York cop is unwillingly recruited as an assassin for a top-secret government agency, Cure. Re-christened Remo Williams (Fred Ward), he’s sent on the trail of an unscrupulous weapons dealer, but first must survive his training with Chiun (Joel Grey) master of Sinanju.
The Players: Starring: Fred Ward, Joel Grey, Kate Mulgrew & Wilford Brimley. Music by Craig Safan. Directed by Guy Hamilton.

Only three years before he was trapped in Arizona by a kingdom of tarantulas and a mere five years before he played James T. Kirk in Star Trek‘s first motion picture, William Shatner starred in the low budget thriller Impulse. And thanks to the team at Grindhouse Releasing, the world can finally witness another Shatner joint in all its restored 4k glory.
So does good ole’ Bill play the hero in this one? Uh no, not in the least. We get full on evil demented Shatner in the flesh. He portrays Matt Stone (not to be confused with the talented South Park creator), who is just your typical thumb-sucking, mini cigar chain-smoking, conniving, scheming faux financial investor. His prey are vulnerable and lonely women, who he exploits for their money with delusional promises of fortune, love and monogamous commitment. He’s a sociopath, a psychopath…all kinds of ‘paths.

The name’s warning. Trigger warning. The British Film Institute is catching major flak for tacking on a disclaimer ahead of a collection of movies screening this season, including two James Bond pictures.
As per The Guardian, the London-based organization is including the following text ahead of their retrospective on composer John Barry, of course, best known for composing nearly half of the James Bond films: “Please note that many of these films contain language, images or other content that reflect views prevalent in its time, but will cause offence today (as they did then). The titles are included here for historical, cultural or aesthetic reasons, and these views are in no way endorsed by the BFI or its partners.” The notes with You Only Live Twice also state that the movie “contains outdated racial stereotypes.“

Despite its Bond-adjacent title, The Goldfinger acts as something of a reunion from a different franchise. Re-teaming Andy Lau, Tony Leung, and writer (now writer-director) Felix Chong from the Infernal Affairs series, their newest film charts the rise and fall of a corrupt real-estate tycoon. Spanning decades, and inspired by the Carrian Group––a Hong Kong conglomerate that collapsed in the 1980s––The Goldfinger pits Lau and Leung on opposing sides, with the former playing Lau Kai-yeun, an investigator for the Icac (Independent Commision Against Corruption) and the latter as Henry Ching, an engineer who works his way through a series of shady deals to run a multi-billion dollar business.
Principally about the investigation into Ching’s company and the house of cards he built over decades, The Goldfinger is compelling in individual moments. It features two noteworthy performances by Leung and Lau. Such rich set-up notwithstanding, Chong never finds...

A season dedicated to composer John Barry, including two James Bond films, has received trigger warnings from the BFI. More here.
The BFI has unveiled a new season celebrating the work of composer John Barry. Titled John Barry: Soundtracking Bond and Beyond, the season includes two Bond films, Goldfinger and You Only Live Twice as well as films such as Midnight Cowboy and The Ipcress File.
The season has earned itself a trigger warning from the BFI, as reported by The Guardian. The blanket warning for all films reads: “Please note that many of these films contain language, images or other content that reflect views prevalent in its time, but will cause offence today (as they did then). “If you really missed not seeing us on screen together, then ‘The Goldfinger’ is your opportunity to do so,” says Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau of his new crime movie where he is again paired with Tony Leung Chiu-wai (“In the Mood for Love”).
The film releases at the end of the month in different parts of Asia and North America (from Dec. 30). Pre-release marketing and promotional efforts make much of the Lau-Leung repairing some twenty years after the “Infernal Affairs” trio of hit movies. The movies were both critical and commercial hits and contained an iconic rooftop scene in Hong Kong’s Wanchai district with the police undercover agent and the mobster’s mole facing off guns drawn.
The pair clearly rate each other highly for their acting skills and for the kind of professionalism that has kept them both a the top of the game for more than two decades.

As soon as Saw X, the tenth entry in the Saw franchise (you can read our review Here), was released a couple months ago, franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules were already talking about the potential of a Saw XI. Yesterday, the new sequel was officially announced, complete with a release date: Saw XI will be reaching theatres on September 27, 2024. When fans saw that announcement, they understandably jumped to the conclusion that the new film is going to be written by the team of Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg, since they wrote not only Saw X but also Jigsaw and Spiral: From the Book of Saw. But, as it turns out, Goldfinger and Stolberg are not coming back for this one.

‘Saw XI’ – Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger Not Returning to Write Next Year’s Eleventh Installment
The Saw franchise has been known to retain filmmaking teams from movie to movie, with writers Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger penning the scripts for Jigsaw, Spiral: From the Book of Saw, and this year’s Saw X. We’ve learned this week, however, that Stolberg and Goldfinger will not be returning for Saw XI, which was officially announced just last night.
Taking to Twitter in the wake of the Saw XI release date reveal from Lionsgate last night – the games return to theaters on September 27, 2024 – Stolberg himself spilled the beans.
Josh Stolberg tweets, “Pete [Goldfinger] and I are sitting this chapter out. Very excited to see this one as a fan of the franchise. I think people will be pleased with the team.”
No word yet on who will be writing or directing Saw XI. Stay tuned for more.

The James Bond film series has never been known for its fealty to the original Ian Fleming source material, which comprise 12 novels and two short story collections. There have since been other books too, more than two dozen, in fact, all written by different authors. But the movies have only glancingly touched on them. Although some of the initial 007 films stayed fairly faithful to the source novels, the franchise began to veer away from the Fleming tales by the mid-1960s, only intermittently returning to them.
Intriguingly, recent (if dubious) rumors have suggested that Eon Productions has reached out to Christopher Nolan about directing the next two films in the series, which would also introduce a new Bond, but there’s no official word on what direction the property will take. There has been speculation that Nolan himself would like to go back to the books, period setting and all,...

As a self-professed Saw-head, I will admit that anytime we get a brand-new Saw movie, I’m happier than Billy riding his bicycle to greet a new victim. Good or bad, I find the films in this franchise to be endlessly entertaining (and rewatchable), with Saw II and Saw VI being amongst my favorites from the series. Well, now there’s a new contender for my favorite Saw movie because Saw X is that damn great. It’s hard to believe that a tenth film in a horror franchise could deliver the goods as well as it does (so to speak), as usually with different series, the longer they go on, the more diminishing the returns are.
But Saw X feels like an absolutely miraculous achievement and was a completely enthralling viewing experience. Directed by Kevin Greutert and co-written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger, Saw X brings about...

The 25th installment in the James Bond franchise, “No Time to Die,” put a bow on Daniel Craig’s tenure as 007, which means it’s the perfect time to catch up on past films in the decades-long series. With a catalogue this wide, and having gone through a couple of different rights issues, there’s no one-stop shop to find all the James Bond movies streaming. But a (small) selection of them are available on a couple of the major streaming services.
You can even stream the 1983 one-off “Never Say Never Again,” which saw Sean Connery reprising his role as James Bond in a film not produced by Eon and only kinda-sorta considered canon.
Of course the best option if you’re a big James Bond fan is to own the films, which come in a couple of different Blu-ray sets. But if you’re merely looking to soak in...

In the modern movie world of “franchise” cinema, there’s one thing more difficult than making a sequel: making a sequel to a sequel. Most sequels tend to either try to double down on what made the original so great or, alternatively, attempt to take things in a more expansive new direction. The third film or “threequel” poses something of a unique quandary though. The concept of the “threequel” isn’t a new one, in fact it is almost as old as cinema itself. The very first “threequel” arguably arrived all the way back in 1907 with George Méliès‘ The Haunted Castle, the third in a trilogy of silent films that began with The Kingdom of the Fairies (1903).
However, modern filmmakers face an increasingly tricky task with threequels. Essentially, they either need to find a satisfactory way to wrap up the story or alternatively inject fresh blood into proceedings with a...

The world was a drastically different place when the James Bond film series kicked off in 1962 with "Dr. No." Gender roles were still set in stone. It was a man's world, one in which women were expected to keep a clean and orderly house while the breadwinner put in his forty hours a week. Should a woman seek employment outside of the home, it's because they were single and could type or file up a storm.
In movies, unmarried women tended to be tragic figures or femme fatales (when they weren't queens or goddesses). If they weren't desperate for a good man to make them whole, they were hellbent on compromising and destroying one. Or they were tools of wealthy, nefarious men, like the Bond girls. Beginning with Ursula Andress' Honey Ryder, the Bond girl was typically a femme fatale who helplessly fell for the British secret agent's rough charm...

In the universe of James Bond, there are several tiers of villains. There are the primary villains, of course, the mad geniuses like Ernst Stavro Blofeld, Auric Goldfinger, Karl Stromberg, or Max Zorin, who plot to take down financial institutions, governments, military installations, or even the entire world. Sometimes it’s even all of the above Next, however, are the secondary adversaries who may support the main villain in their plans but are often either in it for their own financial gain (as opposed to world conquest), or because they’re in trouble, and this is their only way out. Think of Pussy Galore from Goldfinger, Milton Krest from Licence to Kill, General Ouromov from GoldenEye, Professor Dent from Dr. No… and the list goes on and on.
And then there are the henchmen who are there for one sole reason: to kill James Bond, or in the words of one famous villain,...

One of the many James Bond franchise staples introduced in 1964's "Goldfinger" was 007's Aston Martin DB5. Throughout his 60-year cinematic run, Bond has had the pleasure of driving some of the finest vehicles in the world, but none have become as synonymous with England's greatest spy as the DB5. Which is why, to this day, Aston Martin's 1963 luxury grand tourer remains the best James Bond car.
Prior to "Goldfinger," there had been two Bond movies: 1962's "Dr. No" and 1963's "From Russia With Love." In the former, 007 was seen riding in a Sunbeam Alpine, and in the latter a Bentley Mark IV — an odd choice considering the car had been around for a good 30 years prior to Sean Connery's Bond making use of it. And in Ian Fleming's first Bond novel, "Casino Royale," the MI6 agent drove a 1930 Blower Bentley, a racing version of the Bentley 4½ Litre.

More than two years since the news that Tony Leung and Andy Lau would finally reunite from Infernal Affairs, with that saga’s writer Felix Chong on scripting and directing duties––and nearly 18 months since a first preview––The Goldfinger is finally prepping a December 30 release in Hong Kong. Set in the 1980s, the film depicts cut-throat machinations between Hong Kong’s jostling business elites amidst the backdrop of the tail end of British colonial rule. It tells the story of the rise and bust of a fictional Hong Kong company called Jiali Group,...

Among James Bond movies, "Goldfinger" stands as the film that cemented 007's status as a global icon. Guy Hamilton's 1964 effort has since become known as the blueprint for all future Bond films, establishing longstanding tropes that still define the franchise today. A globe-spanning adventure, "Goldfinger" introduced that gadget-filled Aston Martin DB5 alongside legendary Bond girl Pussy Galore, played by the late Honor Blackman. Then there was that famous laser beam scene, in which Sean Connery's Bond is strapped to a table and forced to await an inexplicably slow death.
But it wasn't just gadgets and Bond girls with dodgy names that "Goldfinger" brought to the table. Richard Maibaum and Paul Dehn's script also introduced more subtle staples to the 007 saga, including an opening sequence seemingly unrelated to the film's main plot and a testy relationship between the titular spy and Desmond Llewelyn's Q that established the pair's dynamic going forward.

Vampire Survivors fans got a treat yesterday during the PC Gaming Show, with developer Poncle announcing that the game would be getting a free 1.5 patch. The update, which is expected to go live today, will include a new map, a new character variation, and a new item pickup.
The 1.5 patch introduces the new “Astral Stair” map to Vampire Survivors that features “seemingly endless corridors, flying paintings, and a gameshow-like spinning wheel that triggers random events.” In fact, the spinning wheel won’t be limited to the new map, as it can be activated on any map with the new “Trisection” relic.
Meanwhile, the patch will add a new variant to the Yatta Cavallo character. Thanks to the new “Chaos Rosalia” relic, this bomb-throwing bear will evolve after level 80 to wield a new Cherry Bomb attack.
Lastly is the new pickup, GoldFinger. This pickup starts a special event that supercharges your attack,...

Skate legend Tony Hawk has long been associated with alternative music via the soundtracks to his prolific video game franchise Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. For many young gamers in the ’90s and 2000s, these licensed soundtracks served as an introduction to rock, metal, and punk music that was sometimes too extreme or underground for the radio.
In his latter career, Hawk has embraced his cult rock hero status, hosting major bands at his Weekend Jam skate exhibition and recently joining Goldfinger onstage for the Pro Skater staple “Superman.” Now, Tony has teamed with an all-star backing band for a cover Nine Inch Nails’ “Wish” featuring current and former members of The Dillinger Escape Plan (Ben Weinman), The Bronx (Brad Magers), Every Time I Die (Ryan Leger), and more.

“James Bond will return in Dr. No means No.” That was a joke line from an old T.V. cartoon called The Critic that poked a little fun at the idea that, in P.C. (politically correct) times, the James Bond franchise would evolve. Being an old-school Bond fan, I personally think they’ve done so in a perfectly appropriate way. You have to change with the times, and the franchise has done that.
But, when it comes to altering previous work to reflect modern times, well, that’s an altogether stickier issue. Recently, the Roald Dahl estate came under fire when it was revealed the books had been heavily rewritten to reflect modern sensibilities. And now comes the news that Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels are being changed as well to remove outdated racial stereotyping and references.

Last year, skate legend Tony Hawk acquired a skateboard that was hand-painted in 1985 by late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who adorned the deck with the artwork from the Iron Maiden album Killers.
Hawk then went through the process of authenticating the “unicorn” skateboard — a Sims Jeff Phillips model — working with the deck’s prior owner Cameron Ross and Birdhouse Skateboard’s Derek Richardson to properly understand the origins of the deck.
As Ross explained in a new video posted to Hawk’s social pages, when he was in junior high school, he gave Cobain $20 and a “chunk of weed” to paint the Iron Maiden artwork on the skate deck. Kurt’s sister Kim also appears in the new video clip.
With that taken care of, Hawk and Birdhouse have just released replicas of the deck, as well as prints and stickers of the design, with proceeds going toward raising awareness...

The Oscar-nominated British filmmaker Hugh Hudson has passed away. Famous for his documentary and advertising work, Hudson shot Chariots of Fire, one of the most celebrated films in British history, and Best Picture winner at the 1981 Oscars ceremony. Hudson was 86 when he passed away on Friday at Charing Cross hospital in London after a brief illness.
Hudson directed seven films throughout his career, including Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984), Revolution, Lost Angels, and more. Hailed as a maker of lasting cinema, Hudson’s Revolution, starring Al Pacino, was a box office bomb, earning roughly 350,000 against a reported 29 million budget. The backlash left a lasting impression on Hudson and compelled Pacino to exit the acting scene for roughly four years.

It all began with six men in a van. On the 26 November 1983, half a dozen armed men broke into the Brink’s-Mat depot near London’s Heathrow Airport, where they were expecting to find a million pounds worth of foreign currency.
Instead, they stumbled upon gold bullion worth £26m.
At the time, it was the largest robbery in world history and changed British policing forever.
The case is being dramatised in a new BBC One drama, starring Hugh Bonneville, Jack Lowden, Dominic Cooper, Charlotte Spencer, and Tom Cullen.
Here’s what we know about it…
What happened on 26 November?
At first, it just seemed like “a typical Old Kent Road armed robbery”, in the words of detectives at the time.
The gang, some carrying guns, surprised security staff as they started their Saturday shift between 6.30am and 8.15am at the warehouse.
They gained entry from one of the security guards,...

The original "Planet of the Apes" remains one of the best sci-fi movies of all time. This is a movie with incredible makeup effects that hold up to this day, an air-tight script with poignant social commentary co-written by "The Twilight Zone" creator Rod Serling, and a stellar performance by Roddy McDowall.
Of course, the film is arguably best remembered for having one of the greatest and most memorable twist endings in all of cinema, which Tim Burton utterly failed to replicate. The ending of "Planet of the Apes" has been referenced and parodied to death for decades — though, if you somehow have remained unsullied until now, we will not ruin it. It is also an ending that is rather hard to top, though that didn't stop Twentieth Century Fox from trying.

If These Walls Could Sing documents the role in music history of the iconic Abbey Road Studios, its impact on The Beatles and all the legendary music that followed that was born inside those four walls.
Paul McCartney‘s daughter Mary McCartney, who serves as the director on the film, recently sat for a discussion with uInterview founder Erik Meers to reveal the story behind Oasis getting kicked out of Abbey Road Studios.

“Abbey Road’s not the sort of place to ask people to leave,” McCartney said. “They really do work with the artist. They had a lot of paparazzi following them and maybe they were being a little crazy, but then they came back to record their last album there and then Abbey Road sort of made a little chill-out area for them. They were a bit more prepared for them the second time.

There must be few things more daunting to a filmmaker than taking on the mantle of directing a new James Bond movie. Bond movies are cinema’s equivalent of a Philippe Petit-level highwire balancing act. Over 25 films, fans have carved out an understanding of what they expect from 007. There must be action, adventure, romance, and a dash of comedy. Yet for all the expectations surrounding the world’s most famous secret agent, the recipe isn’t set in stone; in fact, it’s forever evolving.
Where once Bond might have been defined by the wry humor and slapstick gags of Roger Moore, the more modern 007 of Daniel Craig played it straight. Bond has been known to take forays into the world of science fiction, either in an attempt to match box office rivals like Star Wars or in an attempt to address the concerns of an ever evolving technological world.

Diamonds might be forever, but James Bond isn’t. At least not naturally. While the character has survived 60 years, the changing mores and attitudes of several generations, and multiple recastings, it is never a foregone conclusion that 007 will soldier on into the next decade. And in 1995, things looked particularly perilous for the character just as Pierce Brosnan slipped into the tuxedo.
Brosnan was, of course, famously cast as Bond before that moment, having been slated to appear nearly a decade earlier in The Living Daylights (1987). But due to a television contract, he was forced to drop out of a role that millions of television viewers thought he was perfect for. In the interim, the world changed. The Cold War that defined Ian Fleming’s early spate of Bond novels, and certainly 007’s post-World War II persona, had ended. The early ‘90s were an era of good feelings and dubious optimism,...

The James Bond franchise is the gold standard for long-running film series. Sixty years of 007 have not only come with new takes on the secret agent himself but what the franchise should be for each generation of the character. This has meant consistent alterations to every aspect of the movies, as one star takes over for another, from ditching the overt sexism on Bonds past when Daniel Craig took over the role to embracing the absurd in the early years, namely the later Sean Connery films and the majority of the Roger Moore era.
Even the music has changed with each theatrical adventure. From absolute classics, such as Matt Monro’s “From Russia With Love” and Shirley Bassey’s “Goldfinger,” to more modern hits like Adele’s “Skyfall,” each new Bond song is as big an event as the movie itself. But not all Bond songs are equal, and...

After the end of No Time to Die, we examine how the British ambassador of death-defying derring-do has used reinvention to survive so long
It’s the 60th anniversary of James Bond and the right time for all TikTok to be going crazy for “James Bond chord guy” – Jord, or @jrw21 – who’s got 1.4m views and climbing for his hilarious guitar tutorial on how to play the James Bond Chord, E minor with a major 7th and 9th, first used in the soundtrack for the first Bond film, Dr No, which premiered on 5 October 1962.
The tense, unresolved chord, says Jord, usually follows Bond saying something cool and then Jord himself demonstrates in a surreally broad Sheffield accent: “Oh Mr Goldfinger, yeah. Come in. We’ve got space for you to have a haircut. Come on, sit down here. Fuckin’ jokin, dickhead. I’m not really a barber. I’ m fuckin’ James Bond.

Near the beginning of what many consider to be the definitive James Bond movie, 1964’s Goldfinger, Sean Connery’s 007 reveals himself to be simultaneously roguish and antiquated. The moment occurs when his latest conquest affronts his snobbish tastes—dismissing something to do with champagne and refrigerators. He thus believes it’s his duty to explain, “My dear girl, there are some things that just aren’t done, such as drinking Dom Pérignon ’53 above the temperature of 38 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s as bad as listening to the Beatles without earmuffs.”
Bond might’ve been the coolest fictional character around at the time of that movie’s release, but his musical tastes were clearly not. Fortunately for the superspy, his producers at Eon Productions were rarely so old-fashioned.
Over the past 60 years and 25 James Bond pictures, the Bond franchise has become synonymous in its better years with evolving with the times.

The name’s Bond, James Bond. It’s one of the most iconic lines in cinema, said canonically by six actors to date. And each 007 performer has surely offered an interesting and distinctive interpretation of the character, helping to build the franchise’s overall allure decade after decade, and generation after generation. Yet almost as important as these movies’ heroes are their villains; the scheming megalomaniacs who transformed the 60-year-old Bond franchise into a cinematic legend.
Right down to the first Bond film released by Eon Productions in 1962, Dr. No, a mission’s target has been as nearly important as the man in the tux. After all, Dr. No isn’t named after James. Twenty-five movies later that feels still vital, with the most popular entry of Daniel Craig’s tenure, 2012’s Skyfall, being remembered as much for Javier Bardem’s demonic...

El Debarge then surprised Cassidy on the piano with a rendition Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday” followed by a performance of the smash “Rhythm Of The Night” accompanied by a band led by musical director Adam Blackstone. Later, when introducing himself to Tilly Masterson (sister of the gal dipped in gold), she interrupts the old “Bond, James Bond” line, getting a laugh from audiences who’ve already been...

Here’s a list of each quote from the video, and who said it, from Balboa's blog Exophrine.

Movie quotes are the currency by which we pay respect to our favorite films. We grab them out of our pockets at the most appropriate, or inappropriate, times, adding our love of a movie to an advancing conversation. Sometimes these quotes are insignificant lines you and your friends hold near to your hearts but, most of the time, these lines are the ones we all know and love. David Balboa, who runs a blog called Exophrine, edited together 150 of lines and catch phrases just like that into one, cool little video. Included are such diverse films as The Princess Bride, Rocky IV, Aliens, Toy Story, Die Hard, Citizen Kane and many more. Check it out, as well as the full rundown of what's in it, after the jump. Thanks to Balboa and his Exophrine blog [1] for this awesome video. And here's the list of each quote, and who said it,...
