Psych:9 was shot in the Czech Republic and recently this film moved to DVD and Blu-ray February 22nd. This film stars Sara Foster (90210), Cary Elwes (Saw), and Michael Biehn. Released by Ghost House Underground, Psych:9 delves into the cluttered subconscious of a young woman, named Roslyn (Foster). In reality, Roslyn would be a dream client for a private psychologist, with future bills paid for years. However, this protagonist is a nightmare to those around her, as many of her co-workers and acquaintances find themselves riddled with knife, or hammer wounds.
All aboard the spoiler train; Roslyn is a damaged young woman, who is attempting to recover from deep emotional scars. Her father raped her and her mother attempted to kill her. While there aren't any horror releases by major studios this week, there is, however, one notable film that should make up for the drought we are having. It is a film that should be re-subtitled "Shock and Awe" as that was how our @Foywonder felt after viewing Birdemic: Shock and Terror.
Anyway, this avian midnight movie sensation is directed by James Nguyen and stars Alan Bagh, Whitney Moore, Janae Caster, Colton Osborne, and Adam Sessa plus five seconds of stock footage of Tippi Hedren from a previous film.
This week also brings us Psych: 9 from Ghost House Underground. This film is directed by Andrew Shortell and produced by Gareth Jones; it stars Sara Foster, Cary Elwes, Michael Biehn, and Gabriel Man. Rounding out the list are a wacky concept that has warrior creatures battling it out for our amusement and a fusion ghost story.

Abandoned hospitals. They are staples in the horror genre for almost as long as movies have been around. Psych:9 is the next film of a creepy, rundown health facility that becomes the gloomy and grim setting of dastardly and grisly deeds being done in the dark night. Andrew Shortell directs his first full length feature film and though he conveys are very reactive unsettling atmosphere, his ability to tell the story cohesively deems to much for the short film director.

People love horror movies about psychiatric hospitals. It's one of those things that's hard to screw up because it's something that is just scary on principle--like clowns... or AIDS. Abandoned hospitals with broken down lobotomy chairs and hydrotherapy baths, mmm now that says creepy. Psych 9 however completely ruins that delightfully creepy atmosphere and turns it into a backdrop. It turns what could have been an original and stylish stab at the closed down mental hospital into a messy and ridiculous explosion of stupid.
Cary Elwes and Sara Foster star as two strangers connected in a recently closed down hospital. Rosalyn, A young, unstable woman who works the nightshift experiences a chain of events that lead her to believe that the hospital is connected to a string of murders. To reveal the truth...

John Carpenter's first film for nearly a decade is set in an understaffed, thinly populated Oregon asylum in the 1970s, the decade when he initially made his reputation with cheap horror movies. It's another retro-horror flick like Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island and Andrew Shortell's Psych: 9, where the hospital is not all it seems to be and the chief shrink is British, in this case Jared Harris. It adds little to Carpenter's reputation.

A much more thrilling trailer is available for the Green Card production Psych 9. This second trailer, for the film, adds a lot more action and although Psych 9 is a long way away from a release date, even for United Kingdom fans, this new trailer shows the main character breaking down into madness. The clip also shows spirit-like images, who appear just out of camera range. Turn down the lights real low and turn up the volume for this official trailer. All the other details are below.

Michael Biehn aka Hicks in a genre movie always means good times. Throw in Cary Elwes of “Saw” fame (or for you hopeless romantics out there, Wesley) and you can count on some good fun, even in the midst of the blood and guts; the guy always makes me chuckle for some reason. The two’s latest is the psychological horror/thriller “Psych 9″ from director Andrew Shortell. The film co-stars Sara Foster, who actually anchors the film. The plot finds her linking a series of murders in town to the creepy place she’s currently working. Nothing good ever happens in creepy places, to be sure, but maybe Hicks can save her.
