Oscar-winning filmmaker Jordan Peele returned this year with the blockbuster science-fiction spectacle “Nope,” a thriller in the vein of “Jaws” and “Signs” that grossed more than 170 million worldwide. Now, with its physical media debut coming next week, Universal has revealed its streaming plans for Peele’s latest.
“Nope,” which is currently available to rent or buy on numerous platforms like Amazon and Vudu, will stream exclusively on Peacock starting November 18. In addition to the film, Peacock will host a behind-the-scenes documentary on the “Nope” production.
Starring Keke Palmer, Oscar-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya, and Steven Yeun, “Nope” is “a dark pop nightmare of uncanny science-fiction and complex social thriller that unpacks the seeds of violence, risk and opportunism that are inseparable from the romanticized history of the American West … and from show business itself,” according to Universal and Peacock. The film received strong reviews from critics with special mention of its technical achievements,...

Editor Nicholas Monsour should teach a class about "Nope." He jokes that he gives long answers, but really, it's more that he gives a tremendous amount of thought to what he's doing. After speaking with the editor for almost an hour about his latest collaboration with filmmaker Jordan Peele, I still had endless questions about the film. Not only in regards to What does it all mean, man?, but also about the nuts and bolts behind it all.
During our conversation with Monsour, who previously worked on "Us" and "Keanu," we tried to balance discussing technical facts and fun theories about the summer adventure film. "Nope"...

Jordan Peele’s latest foray into the horror genre, the sparsely titled Nope, proves to be another wildly entertaining and engaging work from one of the more gifted filmmakers currently in the business of making movies.
The tale of the Haywood family – horse ranchers in California – who bear witness to an unnatural entity that appears to be hunting in their particular corner of the world. When father Otis (Keith David) and son Oj (Daniel Kaluuya) first encounter the phenomenon, it extracts a heavy toll that sets in motion the events to follow and establishes the momentum of the film. From there, Oj must work alongside his sister Emerald (Keke Palmer) to survive the mystery that has befallen this seemingly forgotten part of California.
Like he has done with his previous films – Get Out (2017) and Us (2019) – writer/director Jordan Peele successfully transforms the most mundane of concepts into an exhilarating and terrifying experience.

[Editor’s note: Spoilers ahead for “Us,” including of its ending.]
“Get Out” was an auspicious directorial debut for Jordan Peele, who brilliantly captured the horror of racism and racial appropriation with his distinct brand of subversive storytelling. It played like a feature-length “Twilight Zone” episode for the 21st century (which is why his Rod Serling reboot is now so appropriate).
With “Us,” however, Peele goes even further. He uses a home invasion plot, and the age-old doppelgänger theme in horror fiction, to turn inward and experiment with even more abstract ideas. This was fertile material for editor Nicholas Monsour to help construct a provocative narrative about a black family confronted with a darker mirror image of itself as an extension of a divided America, resulting in the brutal fight for survival. But Monsour, who previously cut “Keanu” and “Key and Peele,” was in perfect sync with Peele’s ambitious vision. Here the comedy is more subtle and the terror more visceral.

“Us,” Jordan Peele’s second outing as a director, following his 2017 critical and box office success “Get Out,” revisits similar psychological horror-thriller territory. But this time the stakes are, well, doubled.
In the new film, to be released by Universal on March 21, Adelaide Wilson, played by Lupita Nyong’o, returns to her childhood beachside home with her husband (Winston Duke) and their two children (Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex). Suddenly they find themselves clawing to stay alive, as four people who look just like them seem hell-bent on killing them.
The main challenge for the film’s below-the-line team was to keep the story grounded in realism while escalating the horror — and keeping the characters and their doppelgängers well defined.
For production designer Ruth De Jong, “Us” represented a collision of two worlds she previously created: the tragic reality of “Manchester by the Sea” and the strange uneasiness of “Twin Peaks.
