Ron Harper, who starred in iconic science-fiction series like Planet of the Apes and Land of the Lost, has died at 91. His daughter, Nicole Longeuay, says her father died of natural causes at his home in West Hills on Thursday.
Ron Harper, with his golden hair, piercing eyes, and suave demeanor, was an understudy for Paul Newman on Broadway before playing notable roles like Alan Virdon in the Planet of the Apes series, Uncle Jack in Land of the Lost, and Peter Whitmore in the TV series Generations. Before striking it rich with roles that would increase his star power, Harper appeared in four series that never got a second season, including 87th Precinct, Wendy and Me, The Jean Arthur Show, and Garrison’s Gorillas.
Thankfully, Planet of the Apes helped put Harper on executive’s watch lists. While Planet of the Apes didn’t last long on the air, Harper...

What will you be watching this Thanksgiving?
Why not dive headfirst into Christmas?
There's another Hallmark movie celebrating family that appears to be delightful.
One of the best things about entertainment is how you can explore different cultures, and My Southern Family Christmas takes us down to the Bayou for a very special celebration.
Jaicy Elliot and Ryan Rottman star alongside Brian McNamara, Moira Kelly, and Bruce Campbell (in a Hallmark movie?!).
Under the guise of a journalist writing a story about a tight-knit community that makes Christmas special, Campbell (Elliot) has a chance to get to know her biological father, Everett (Campbell), for the first time – without him ever knowing who she really is.
As she spends time with him and his family, as well as Jackson (Rottman), the town’s record keeper, she realizes that families are messy, wonderful things.
In the end, Campbell must decide if she...

We actually were going to shoot it during the Covid lockdown,” reveals Melissa Joan Hart, the executive producer of “Christmas in Tune” for Lifetime starring Reba McEntire. “We put it off because we wanted to be able to have big audiences and do it right. We didn’t rush it. In the meantime, we were able to get Reba to be interested in it and developed it more for her.” We talked to Hart as part of our “Meet the Experts” TV showrunners panel. Watch our exclusive video interview above.

Private Practice‘s Addison-centric hour airing this Tuesday looks chockablock with anxiety, when wee Henry’s birth mother resurfaces after eight months of radio silence — and we’ve got a video sneak peek.
Of course, Addison agreed to an open adoption, so she knew that Judi (played by Emily Moss Wilson) would (or could) be a part of her son’s life. But given Judi’s sudden desire to visit with Henry, and not just once, after having so many months to ponder her decision to give her baby a new home,...
