Plot: Franklin Anderson struggles to make new friends when he moves to a new state (possibly Minneapolis). However, after meeting Charlie Brown and entering a soap box derby race, Franklin learns valuable lessons about friendship and how winning isn’t everything.
Review: Moving to a new town is especially difficult when you’re a kid. In addition to being a social disadvantage in a school setting, your after-school playtime quickly becomes an exercise in manifesting imaginary friends. For Franklin Anderson, being popular was never an option. His dad moves around a lot, so Franklin jumps from one state to the next, living out of a suitcase and never settling in one place long enough to make honest-to-goodness friends. This pattern is about to change when he meets the Peanuts gang and learns that the traditional methods of making friends sometimes don’t apply.

The trailer for the latest Apple TV+ Charlie Brown special is here, and no offense to Peppermint Patty, Lucy, and the rest of the crew, but this looks like it's set to be the best Peanuts character spotlight story yet. The new animated special is titled "Welcome Home, Franklin," and it's set to finally shine a light on Franklin, Charlie Brown's laid back friend who joined the comic strip in 1968. Notably, Franklin is the only Black character in the main Peanuts gang lineup that's featured prominently in several of the most popular specials, and his role in the friend group has led to plenty of memeing and criticism over the years.
In the social media age, Franklin is perhaps best known for his appearance in "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving," where he's seated awkwardly far across the table from all of his white friends. Screencaps from the 1973 special tend to go viral around the holiday season,...

Some people might prefer to watch Peanuts or Love Actually at this time of year. All I want is this underrated and bizarre action film
There’s always a lot of conversation at this time of year surrounding what does and does not constitute a Christmas movie. For some folks, only James Stewart appreciating the joy of existence in It’s a Wonderful Life will do. Others want to watch the Peanuts gang in A Charlie Brown Christmas. Personally, I want to watch Dolph Lundgren fight an alien drug dealer and kick people in the face in Dark Angel.
This 1990 action film is an underrated piece of festive lunacy with an extremely fun if slightly overcomplicated plot, but there are a lot of stunts and explosions to smooth things over. If you doubt its festive credentials, the opening scene involves a guy crashing his car into a Christmas tree lot.

There aren’t all that many books where the format is an inspired choice – most books are what they are, arranged in the same way as a thousand others much like them. Every so often, you see a novel in epic verse, or a non-fiction book of advocacy that’s basically one big infographic, but those are rare.
Funny Things is part of that rare company: it may take a couple of pages to realize it, but this biography of Charles M. “Peanuts” Schulz is laid out like a book of Peanuts strips. Generally six dailies – though it starts with a short week of five – and then a Sunday, over and over again, just like Schulz’s own working life for fifty years.
The subtitle gives that away, if you catch the reference: it’s called “A Comic Strip Biography of Charles M. Schulz.” But that’s easy to miss...

There are three types of people in the world: "Garfield" people, "Calvin and Hobbes" people, and "Peanuts" people. As a practicing worshipper of The Great Pumpkin and the human result of what happens when Lucy van Pelt and Peppermint Patty go through the Brundlefly machine, I am firmly in the latter camp. There's no such thing as a bad "Peanuts" movie, in my opinion, only films that are special to a smaller number of fans.
The characters created by Charles M. Schulz have been entertaining generations for over 75 years, and there's no sign of stopping. Apple won the rights to much of the "Peanuts" library in the streaming wars, releasing the hybrid "Peanuts" special/Schulz documentary "Who Are You, Charlie Brown?" as well as two series, "Snoopy in Space" and "The Snoopy Show." Now, Apple TV+ is developing its first "Peanuts" original feature, bringing Charlie Brown and the gang to the Big City.

The great irony of Halloween is that in subjecting ourselves to scares of the kitschy seasonal-grocery-aisle variety, we somehow inoculate ourselves, for a moment, the Irl horrors that so consistently plague us each day online in the news each day. But horror movies and other October-end entertainments aren’t necessarily always simply a distraction. Just as often they’re an honest expression of universal human anxieties, dressed up in a foul-smelling rubber mask from the ad-hoc aisles of your local Spirit Halloween retail outlet.

The perks of being a wallflower are not lost on Peanuts introvert Marcie when she suddenly finds herself front and center in the new special, Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie. The animated outing, which dropped on Apple TV+ on Friday, August 18, finds Peppermint Patty’s bespectacled sidekick thrust into, of all things, a political crisis after her under-the-radar ability to iron out her school’s crowded hallway traffic and solve the cafeteria’s pizza shortages gets her elected to be class president. Never one to turn down the chance to help her friends in secret, Marcie is soon struggling with all of the attention and pressure that comes with everyone’s expectations. It’s a sweetly insightful story filled with classic Peanuts gags and deep-cut characters rarely seen outside of the comic strips, as well as a heart as big as Snoopy’s doghouse. Which is just how creator Charles Schulz’s son wanted it.

You’re a good man, Charlie Brown! But you’re maybe not the best at baseball, coach. Then again, we have known this fact ever since Chuck first played the game in a March 1951 comic strip. Seventy-plus years later, the round-headed icon keeps swinging for the fences, so you gotta give him props. In the above exclusive sneak peek from The Snoopy Show‘s upcoming third season on Apple TV+, Charlie even tries to improve the Peanuts gang’s base-running skills and finds himself faced with a regrettable tale of the tape. However, we do appreciate the fancy footwork by former Flashbeagle Snoopy and Lucy, who has way more finesse on the field than she does holding a football. Pasadena - Forget the AFI Top 10 list of Best TV shows. Why should care about TV since they are the American Film Institute? This is kind like the American Diabetic Prevention Society’s Top 10 Favorite Sugary Candy Bars list. Or Bravo’s Top 10 Hunting Shows. Or Madd’s Best 10 Drinks to Mess You Up. Or Charlie Sheen’s Top 10 Things You Can Do Without Involving Hookers and Blow. If they care about TV that much, shouldn’t they be the Aftvi? But they are a pack of List Whores over at AFI with their 100 Years a 100 Stupid Lists press releases.
