At one point, Saw VI director Kevin Greutert was on board to direct a slasher movie called All My Friends Are Dead… but then Greutert got busy working on Saw X and ended up handing the helm over to Marcus Dunstan – the director of The Collector and co-writer of Saw VI. All My Friends Are Dead went into production a year ago with Dunstan at the helm, and now it’s aiming for an August 2nd theatrical, digital, and VOD release. With that date just a couple months away, a clip from the film (featuring JoJo Siwa) has made its way online and can be seen in the embed above.

Nearly a decade after fronting the launch of cable TV network El Rey, filmmaker Robert Rodriguez is taking its operations into the streaming realm.
In a deal with Cinedigm, which operates a portfolio of targeted streaming offerings like the Bob Ross Channel, Fandor and the Dove Channel, El Rey will continue to have a 24-7 live presence. Distribution partners have not been announced, but targets will include smart-tv and connected-tv platforms and streaming outlets like Pluto and others offering bundles of free channels.
At the beginning of its new phase, the streaming outlet will be less widely available than when it was at its cable peak, when it reached 40 million U.S. households. Even so, backers say its rebooted future is brighter given the overall shift toward streaming. Many of El Rey’s advertising relationships and resources will carry over to the new setup, and Rodriguez is an established figure...

IndieVest Pictures, the L.A.-based indie film financier and distributor, has struck a home entertainment output deal with Vivendi Entertainment. While Indie will handle its own theatrical distribution, Vivendi will handle TV, VOD and DVD as well as digital and mobile rights for IndieVest titles.
IndieVest, which aims to produce six to eight films a year, will launch its first release, Hue Rhode's "Saint John of Las Vegas," in February. The film stars Steve Buscemi, Romany Malco, Sarah Silverman, Tim Blake Nelson, Peter Dinklage, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Jesse Garcia and John Cho.
"We are creating a multi-genre, commercially driven, production slate that guarantees our filmmakers theatrical distribution, and can't imagine a better home entertainment partner than Vivendi Entertainment to bring our titles to the largest possible audiences," IndieVest president Mark Burton said.
The deal was negotiated by Yolanda Macias on behalf of Vivendi and Mark Burton and attorney Glenn Feig for IndieVest Pictures.

Soumya Sriraman has been promoted to senior vp theatrical marketing and Yolanda Macias has been upped to senior vp business development and acquisitions at Vivendi Entertainment.
Formerly vp marketing and operations, Sriraman will be responsible for all aspects of theatrical marketing including publicity, promotions, media and creative services as Vivendi Entertainment expands from DVD distribution into theatrical releasing.
Macias, who had held the title of vp business development and acquisitions, will be charged with acquiring films from independent producers and suppliers. She recently negotiated the acquisition of the upcoming "New York, I Love You," which saw Vivendi Entertainment partner with Palm Pictures.
Vivendi Entertainment president Tom O'Malley announced the promotions.
Part of the Universal Music Group family of companies -- which, in turn, is a subsidiary of France's Vivendi -- Los Angeles-based Vivendi Entertainment was launched in September 2004 as a DVD distributor. It has since begun to move into digital, TV and theatrical distribution with plans to release between eight and 14 films per year theatrically.
