With the DVD/Blu-ray release of The Last Exorcism this week, I felt it would be a good idea to publish this Sos podcast once again:
Though the subgenre has its roots in decades-old cult cinema (or, if you;d like, all the way back to Orson Welles’ War of the Worlds in 1938), “found footage” horror is most probably still most strongly associated with a breakout 1999 flick called The Blair Witch Project, a microbudget thriller that wound up inspiring equal amounts of derision and praise – and a whole lot of motion sickness. While it wasn’t the first horror flick to masquerade as real-life terror, its success did bring about a new wave of movies attempting similar feats. Jonah Hill in Get Him to the Greek
Photo: Universal Pictures The first time I noticed Jonah Hill was his role as the foul-mouthed friend in Superbad even though he'd had roles in such films as Evan Almighty, Click and I Heart Huckabees before that, and, of course, his small roles in Judd Apatow's The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up. However, Superbad was three years ago and now Hill's built a solid resume of comedic roles and this summer even moves into more dramatic territory with Fox Searchlight's Cyrus and will follow that up with the straightforward drama Moneyball in 2011 for Capote director Bennett Miller and opposite Brad Pitt. This is all on top of a script he's co-writing for an adaptation of "21 Jump Street", which he will also star in. To say this 26-year-old has come a long way would be an understatement.
So, when Hill...
