Chucky season 3 had to be split in half due to the writers and actors strikes, with the first four episodes (read our review Here) airing on Syfy and USA Network (as well as the Peacock streaming service) back in October. Production resumed at the end of November, and the second half of the season will begin airing on April 10th – so now that we’re closing in on the end of season 3, series creator Don Mancini is, of course, fielding questions about the possibility of a fourth season. During an interview with The Direct, Mancini confirmed that season 4 has already been pitched!
When the subject of season 4 came up, Mancini said, “There’s very little I can say about that. I can’t tell you my idea for Season 4, but I’m really excited about it. I already pitched it to the network. So fingers crossed because it’s something I really like to do.

Dolls, dolls, and more dolls! The horror genre is an ever-twisting blade that goes in deep when a good, and original concept is copied, replicated, and beaten over the head until it’s nothing more than a watered-down caricature. They say imitation is the biggest form of flattery, but are we so sure about that? Today I have an interesting Horror Movie Rip-off between two evil entities covered in rubber that cherish their higher gods and massacring anyone and everyone in their path. One that spawned countless sequels, tv shows, a cemented horror legacy, and worldwide notoriety, while the other I may have glanced at on the racks of my local blockbuster back in the day.

Don Mancini, who has written every film in the Child’s Play / Chucky franchise (except the remake) and directed a few of them, developed the TV series Chucky with producer David Kirschner – and he has made it clear that he enjoys casting actors in multiple roles. For example, Devon Sawa has already played four different characters over the course of the TV show’s three seasons. Now Entertainment Weekly has learned that legendary filmmaker John Waters is the latest person to play two different roles in this franchise. Having previously played Pete Peters, a tabloid photographer who got dissolved by acid in 2004’s Seed of Chucky, Waters has now been added to the cast of Chucky season 3, where he’ll be playing Wendell Wilkins, “the reclusive creator of the Good Guy dolls, who gets drawn into the psychopathic Chucky’s tangled web”.

Chucky season 3 had to be split in half due to the writers and actors strikes, with the first four episodes (read our review Here) airing on Syfy and USA Network (as well as the Peacock streaming service) last month. Now that both the writers and actors strikes have come to an end, Chucky is able to go back into production to film the second half of the season – and to celebrate, Syfy has shared a video that shows series creator Don Mancini and the series’ young stars, back on set:

Chucky the killer doll has come back a whole lot of times since we first saw him in the 1988 classic Child’s Play. He has starred in several big screen sequels, a couple direct-to-video sequels, and now he’s three seasons deep into a TV series that runs on both Syfy and USA Network (as well as the Peacock streaming service). As he has made his way through the decades, many of his co-stars have also returned to share the screen with him again and again. But among those who haven’t returned is Chris Sarandon, who played Detective Mike Norris in the original film. During an interview conducted by People to mark the thirty-fifth anniversary of the original Child’s Play, Sarandon revealed that he would be willing to come back for another Chucky project… even though he turned down the chance to appear in Child’s Play 2.

Thirty-five years, seven feature films, and three seasons deep into an ongoing television series haven’t diminished Chucky’s bloodlust in the slightest. That’s no easy feat, even in a genre largely driven by surviving impossible odds and obstacles. With each new entry, Chucky somehow manages to grow even more maniacal and devious, adapting to bizarre new twists that a prolonged voodoo curse throws his way. Of course, that voodoo curse started it all 35 years ago today, when Child’s Play stabbed its way into theaters on November 9, 1988.
While Chucky’s journey continues to surprise through new revelations, characters, and sharp narrative turns, it’s anchored by the killer’s unrelenting pursuit of vengeance and his voodoo origins. That voodoo curse also allows for one of the most notable deaths in the series for its almost meta-levels of doll-on-doll violence.

Filmmaker Kyra Elise Gardner’s examination of the Child’s Play franchise comes from a personal place in Living with Chucky, debuting on Screambox and Digital on April 4, 2023.
Kyra Elise Gardner is the daughter of Tony Gardner, one of the most prominent and integral special effects artists in the “Chucky” franchise. For the Gardners, Chucky is family.
And the Chucky films, well, they’re often about family as well.
The filmmaker’s familial relationship with the killer Good Guy doll, voiced by Brad Dourif, fittingly coincided with the horror icon unexpectedly finding himself a family in Bride of Chucky. Bride, penned by Don Mancini and directed by Ronny Yu, gave series protagonist Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) a much-needed rest and instead introduced franchise mainstay Tiffany Valentine (Jennifer Tilly), opening up new layers to Chucky in the process.

Of all the killer dolls committed to celluloid, Chucky is one of the most recognizable. Since 1988, the ginger-haired Good Guy toy has been host to the soul of serial killer Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif) and has since spread his mayhem across six sequels, a remake, and a successful television series about to go into its third season.
It all began with "Child's Play," first conceived by Don Mancini. The son of an ad industry veteran, Mancini aimed to satirize the stranglehold marketing had on kids. Before co-writer John Lafia and director Tom Holland touched the story, it originally lacked the serial killer or occult rituals seen in the final product. But the Chucky we know and recoil from would not only be possessed by Lee Ray and kill a man via a voodoo doll, but he would dispatch a babysitter, blow up an old acquaintance, attempt to kill a mother and two cops,...

Mancini has always had a lot of Chucky-related ideas waiting on standby, and he confirmed that if Chucky hadn’t been renewed for season 3 he would have started trying to get another movie together to bring the ideas he had for the season to the screen that way. Luckily, he won’t have to do that… so we might see a musical episode or an animated sequence show up in the series at some point. Mancini said, “I feel incredibly excited and grateful. The newest member in the killer doll pantheon, M3GAN is currently slaying at the box office, with a sequel already in early development at this time. Of course, killer dolls and toys are a subgenre in and of themselves in horror, and no face shines brighter than that of Chucky.
With M3GAN now providing Chucky with some excellent company on the Killer Doll Mount Rushmore, I think the time has come to give the oft dismissed third entry in the still ongoing Child’s Play franchise a reassessment – the Jack Bender-directed Child’s Play 3.
Long considered the black sheep of the franchise, it’s not particularly easy to find many champions of Chucky’s third outing. Creator, writer, and ongoing franchise shepherd Don Mancini has even voiced his disappointment in his own writing on the film. On top of that, the box office take was underwhelming, and fans are...

One thing we’ve learned about the “Chucky” franchise over the years is that Nothing is off the table, with creator Don Mancini frequently dipping back into the past to tie everything and everyone together into a single franchise universe. Characters including Glen, Glenda, Tiffany, Kyle, and Andy Barclay have all made their returns, much to the delight of longtime fans.

This article contains major spoilers for "M3GAN."
After months of some genius viral marketing, "M3GAN" has proven to be yet another successful venture for Blumhouse. The caregiver AI turned sassy murderer is carving a name for herself in a world where Chucky currently holds the heavyweight title of cinema's memorable killer doll, and it's easy to see why. The acrobatic physicality of Amie Donald, coupled with the vocal performance of Jenna Davis, has proved to be a potent mix that brings cinema's newest slasher baddie to the screen with entertaining results. Not giving M3GAN her own franchise would be such a wasted opportunity. But given how the film ends, a sequel is all but inevitable.
Even though the film was whittled down from a considerably more violent screenplay, some of which was shot, "M3GAN" still manages to end things on a high note. After finally seeing the destructive impact of her emotional support doll,...

Sometimes it seems like the entirety of "Chucky" season 2 was just one, giant, collective hallucination by the fans. The season kicked off with a Halloween special, threw the main tweens into Catholic school for some fun (with a weirdly hot priest played by Devon Sawa), and gave Jennifer Tilly a "Bound" reunion/solo episode that allowed her to remind the world why she's an Academy Award-nominated performer. Fiona Dourif has continued a masterful reign at playing multiple characters inhabiting her character Nica Pierce's body, including often having to imitate the voice of Charles Lee Ray/Chucky, who has been played by her father, Brad Dourif, for nearly three-and-a-half decades.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Season Two, Episode Six of “Chucky.”
The second season of Don Mancini’s “Chucky” is rapidly approaching its finale, which means the pieces are slowly falling into place, and the characters’ paths are converging. It also means that the body count continues to rise as we near the end. This week’s episode, “He Is Risen Indeed,” delivered not one but three notable deaths worth paying tribute to.
Here’s who we lost this week, and why their deaths are important to the show.
Hulk Chucky
This first to fall this week was the heavily muscled Chucky variation, a brute force enforcer that found himself at the sharp end of the blade when confronted by Good Chucky.

This week’s episode of “Chucky” Season 2, titled “Doll on Doll,” was easily one of the best hours of the series to date, dropping some major bombshells and a couple huge payoffs.
Warning: This Article Contains Spoilers!
For starters, “Doll on Doll” ushered in the surprising reveal that not only is Tiffany inhabiting the body of Jennifer Tilly due to the events of Seed of Chucky nearly 20 years ago, but Jennifer Tilly now resides within the body of the Tiffany doll! As you may recall, the two were swapped in Seed of Chucky, but this is the first we’ve seen of the Tilly-infused Tiffany doll.
“Doll on Doll” also revealed that the Glen/Glenda doll is still in Tiffany’s possession, and she has finally made the decision to gift it to her flesh and blood child, Glen. Tiffany’s cover has been completely blown and she’s been...

The wrestling program WWE Raw airs on the USA Network and so does the Chucky TV series (which also airs on Syfy), so it makes sense that wrestler Liv Morgan wore a Chucky-inspired outfit in the ring as a bit of cross-promotion during an episode of Raw last year. But there’s another reason for Morgan’s Chucky tribute: she happens to be a fan of the killer doll, and during an interview she even said that she would love to be killed by Chucky on screen. She might get her wish, because the official Twitter account has announced that Morgan will be appearing in the October 26th episode of Chucky season 2!

Don Mancini's "Chucky/Child's Play" franchise is undoubtedly one of the greatest in horror history, with seven movies, a season of television, and a new second season currently playing on USA and Syfy. As Mancini has been involved with the franchise since the very beginning, the lore of "Child's Play" has never had to endure revisionist history, retcons of memorable events, or even different screenwriters like most of its contemporaries. This has allowed the mythos in the Chuckyverse to be rich, scary, and effortlessly hilarious.
There are constant throwbacks to previous films throughout the series, regardless if it's one of the "serious slashers" like "Child's Play" and "Child's Play II," or the camp-as-hell installments like "Bride of Chucky" or "Seed of Chucky." All of the films are weighted equally in terms of continued storytelling, which allows a character like the now-adult version of Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), the child gifted the original Chucky doll,...

It's been about a year since we last caught up with our favorite sociopathic serial killer trapped in the body of a doll, but "Chucky" is back for season 2 and Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif) is wasting no time continuing to ruin the lives of Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), his boyfriend Devon Evans (Björgvin Arnarson), their friend Lexy Cross (Alyvia Alyn Lind), and anyone else who gets in his way. Season 1 saw Chucky and his partner-in-crime, Jennifer Tilly (Jennifer Tilly), unleash a reign of terror across Hackensack, New Jersey that included a mansion fire, plenty of stabbings, murders framed as suicides, a movie theater massacre, and the demonic possession of 70+ Chucky dolls, and left Jake and Devon both orphaned.

Plot: A year after seemingly defeating their nemesis Chucky, “3 Amigos” Jake, Devon, and Lexy begin receiving mysterious, threatening calls from an all-too-familiar-sounding enemy.
Review: After years of mediocre sequels and a poorly received remake, Don Mancini’s Child’s Play franchise moved to the small screen last year with Chucky. A fun, over-the-top season that blended gory kills with some origin for Charles Lee Ray, Chucky was a cross-network hit that gained a dedicated following thanks to simultaneous airings on both USA and SyFy as well as the well-received return of Brad Dourif as the possessed Good Guy doll. With appearances from characters from throughout the franchise, Chucky ended its first season with a bang and set up the second to be even bigger and more deadly. Having seen the first two episodes, Chucky’s second season continues the style and humor of last year’s run while changing up the setting to keep things fresh.

“Chucky” is back and just in time for Halloween! Season two picks up a year after the inaugural season’s events, ensuring that peace was short-lived for its young protagonists. The season premiere, “Halloween II,” evokes the Halloween spirit with its holiday setting and infectious callbacks to other slashers. That energy helps in getting reacquainted with the series’ characters as they transition into the next chapter.
Previously on fucking “Chucky,” Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind), and Devon (Bjorgvin Arnarson) survived a blood bath in the town’s local cinema. Jake succeeded in destroying the iteration of the killer doll that tormented him all season, while franchise stalwart Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) skipped town in a truck full of possessed Good Guy dolls. Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) and Chucky (Brad Dourif) have amassed a Good Guy doll army, though, and refuse to have their plans derailed without a body count.

The Season 1 finale of “Chucky” re-introduced beloved legacy character Tiffany, marking the first time we’d seen the killer doll since her brief appearance in 2017 movie Cult of Chucky.
Tiffany was of course introduced in Bride of Chucky, the doll inhabited by the evil spirit of Jennifer Tilly‘s Tiffany Valentine. The doll made her presence known in the final moments of the Season 1 finale, revealing that she’s on the truck with the army of Chucky dolls that are about to be given to children all across the world. Andy Barclay hijacked the truck in an effort to thwart Chucky’s master plan, and Andy is now the only thing standing in between Chucky and world domination. The only thing standing in Andy’s way, however? The Tiffany doll!

We’re officially just a day away from the premiere episode of Chucky on Syfy, as the brand new series from creator Don Mancini debuts on Tuesday, October 12th at 10 Pm Est. This latest entry in the Child’s Play/Chucky franchise will deliver up eight episode of mayhem and murder courtesy of the titular doll.
During a recent press day, Daily Dead joined a group of journalists to speak with Mancini about the Chucky series, where he discussed the freedom that this new television show gave him, allowing him to take this story even further than another feature film would have. Mancini also chatted about the legacy of the character of Chucky, how the Chucky series connects with the most recent film in the franchise, Cult of Chucky, and teased some tidbits about the return of fan-favorite characters like Tiffany Valentine (played by Jennifer Tilly), Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), Nica...

After seven films and an ill-advised reboot, Chucky is set to deploy a new torrent of neighborhood carnage. The killer doll has gone through several reinventions over the years, but now that he’s back in the hands of original creator Don Mancini, he’ll find yet another unsuspecting family to terrorize in his very own TV series.
Chucky has certainly navigated a wild path to the small screen. The Child’s Play franchise started out playing the character straight by charting his efforts to get his murderous psychological hooks into innocent little Andy Barclay, but films one through three were also embracing a slasher genre that appeared to be on its last legs.
Even Mancini thought he may have reached the end of the road with 1991’s Child’s Play 3, but when the horror game changed with Wes Craven’s meta movie Scream in the late-‘90s, Mancini suddenly...

When “Chucky” comes to Syfy as a dramatic horror series, the new arm of the franchise will dive into the backstory of Charles Lee Ray, aka the titular doll’s human form who was also known as the Lakeshore Strangler (despite not actually choosing strangulation as his method or murder).
“Exploring Charles Lee Ray’s origins has been something that the fans have wanted to see, literally for decades now, and one of the reasons I was excited about bringing the franchise into television was because having so much storytelling real estate — eight hours of ‘Chucky’ — will provide it such a great opportunity for exploring that stuff,” creator and showrunner Don Mancini said during a Television Critics Assn. press tour panel for the show.
In addition to going back in time with Charles Lee Ray (including showing his first kill), the show will also feature the evolution of him as Chucky,...

Chucky, the upcoming spinoff series of the venerable Child’s Play horror franchise, is set to bring the terror of a homicidal, serial-killer-spirit-inhabited doll to a new medium and a new generation. However, don’t you dare call it a “reboot,” since the series, like the film franchise, remains the mutilating manifestation of creator Don Mancini, who is unambiguously touting the television show as a continuation of his cinematic continuity. Moreover, the creator reveals that plans for even more films—in conjunction with the show—are also in the works. In other words, brace yourselves for the Chucky Universe!
“An evil too great to play on just one network,” reads the tagline in the new teaser trailer for Chucky, which hypes a series designed for a deluge of doll-dealt deaths, set for a dual network run—under the NBCUniversal umbrella—this fall on USA Network and Syfy. Surprisingly enough, Mancini openly expresses,...
