Luther fans, rejoice! Idris Elba’s gruff detective will don that signature tweed coat once again for an “utterly heart-stopping and unmissable” four-part season, filming on which will kick off next month.
That’s right, Luther season 5 will head into production in January and it’ll herald John Luther’s first small-screen appearance since December of 2015. Granted, Elba has since reprised as the iconic sleuth, specifically for a Sport Relief sketch, but with the show’s co-creator and writer Neil Cross also on board, fans will no doubt be looking to this all-new fifth installment with bated breath.
“I delivered the final episode of Luther series five about an hour before leaving for the airport [to head to London for the Hard Sun premiere],” said Cross in a recent interview. “We’re in prep right now and we’re doing a bit of casting and we start shooting in January. For some reason, I always seem to shoot in the depths of winter.

Game Of Thrones season seven, we hardly knew you. You arrived, secretly fitted all your characters with invisible jet packs so they could zip around whole continents as if they were just popping to the shops, and then in the flap of a dragon’s wing, you were gone. Three episodes shorter than the previous runs, the seventh season solved the show’s annual ‘how to top last year’s massive episode nine’ problem by simply not having one. Genius.
Figuratively though, there was an episode nine in season seven. It was episode four The Spoils Of War. And episode six Beyond The Wall. And a little bit...

Well, it's not the full one-off parody episode that aired last week on the BBC, but it at least gives you a brief look at it. I expect the entire piece will become available online sometime soon. Until then, the below preview will have to do for those of us not in the UK (they're already seen the whole thing). Idris Elba reprises his role as Luther in the one-off parody episode of the hit BBC series for "Sport Relief" - a biennial charity event from Comic Relief, in association with BBC Sport, which brings together the worlds of sport and entertainment to raise money to help vulnerable people in both the UK and the world's poorest countries. On Sunday, British comedian Eddie Izzard finished a double marathon in Johannesburg, South Africa - a great feat on its own, but those races completed a larger charity challenge in which he ran 27 marathons in 27 days. Izzard, 54, completed his final 26.2-mile run at the feet of a large statue of former South African President Nelson Mandela, in whose honor the challenge is structured. (He ran one marathon each day for every year Mandela was imprisoned.) Izzard's efforts raised more than $1 million for this year's Sport Relief, according to the BBC, a biennial charity effort. The Great British Bake Off is probably the most British show there’s ever been. Each season 12 bakers enter a giant bunting-clad tent in the middle of the countryside, and each week they bake through a series of ‘signature’, ‘technical’ and ‘showstopper’ challenges, with the best amateur baker ultimately crowned at a thoroughly British garden party.
Season 6 of the show has ended, leaving the British public emotionally drained. The finale attracting a record audience of more than 13 million, making it the most watched TV show of the year. The show has been a somewhat unexpected success, first appearing on BBC2 before graduating to BBC1 in 2014.
There’s now also a spin-off show Extra Slice which gives viewers a baking fix on Fridays, special celebrity Bake Offs have been produced for charities such as Comic Relief or Sport Relief, and children are invited to compete in the Junior Bake Off aired on Cbbc.

With Donald Trump otherwise engaged with the small matter of his bid to become President of the United States, the Us version of Celebrity Apprentice was in need of a new host. And now it has one. Samantha Cameron could soon be coming under the critical eyes of Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.
The Mail on Sunday has reported that the prime minister's wife is to take part in a special charity edition of The Great British Bake Off for Sport Relief.
Cameron's baking skills were on display in 2013 for Comic Relief when she made buns, cookies and flapjacks in the Downing Street kitchen.
The Great British Bake Off has previously filmed Sport Relief editions in 2012 and 2014, with the likes of Rochelle Humes, Jamelia and Victoria Pendleton participating in last year's series.

Kate Moss is making a cameo in the new Absolutely Fabulous film, according to writer and star Jennifer Saunders.
The model will appear when filming begins at London Fashion Week next month.
Saunders told The Mirror: "I can confirm that Kate does have a part in the forthcoming movie.
"It's not yet decided whether she'll have a speaking part or not, but she'll definitely be in it.
"She's a big fan of the show and we're pals, so – aside from the fact she's the definitive model - it was a no-brainer."
Moss previously appeared in the TV show in a 2012 Sport Relief sketch with Joanna Lumley as Patsy alongside model David Gandy and fashion designer Stella McCartney.
Mossy won't be the only celebrity cameo, as Saunders revealed: "There'll also be a bit of Spice with Emma Bunton and Lulu, obviously.
"I'm still tweaking the script. I've only just got the greenlight.

The actress, who played Theresa McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, anticipated a long run in this year's final All Stars series and didn't want to be left "absolutely exhausted" like she was during her first stint in 2012 - but it turns out she needn't have worried.

Honoring her hubby with a cute "mug"-shot, Victoria Beckham posted a selfie of David Beckham after the footballer made a cameo appearance on the long-retired "Only Fools and Horses."
Airing as part of Friday's (March 21) Sport Relief special, the 38-year-old wanted the show to come back after an 11-year hiatus, and his cameo episode marked its short return.
David Jason, who acts as the show's protagonist, Del-Boy, said of David, "He said he had always loved 'Only Fools and Horses,' and that it would be great to do something with me and Nick."
The show made a return to television for charity, featuring wheeler dealer Del attempting to sell boxer briefs signed by David at market, and the show itself aired on BBC One from 1981 to 1991, with Friday's six-hour Sport Relief special raking in an impressive £51 million!

David Beckham made his much-anticipated appearance in Only Fools and Horses on Friday night (March 21).
The former footballer starred opposite Sir David Jason (Del Boy) and Nicholas Lyndhurst (Rodney) in the one-off skit for Sport Relief.
The Only Fools short saw Del Boy and Rodney trying to flog 'Golden Balls' boxers, which Rodney begrudgingly modelled.
Sitting in the cafe, Del Boy was moaning about 'that git' who signed the pants, only for Beckham himself to correct him: "They're boxer briefs."
Beckham, as well as delivering the classic line "Shut up you tart" to Rodney, also told Del Boy's younger brother exactly how to model the boxers.
Swapping their favourite artist picks, Rodney went for Matisse while Beckham chose Tony Hart: "That Morph cracks me up."

Only Fools and Horses will not return for a full series, according to writer Jim Sullivan.
The much-loved comedy will return for a one-off sketch for Sport Relief on BBC One tonight (March 21), with David Beckham starring opposite Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst.
However, Jim Sullivan - the son of late creator John Sullivan - has confirmed that there are no plans for it to return for further episodes.
"It's a relief now that it's done as we were all sworn to secrecy for what felt like a long time," he told Radio Times.
"It's also good to be able to set the record straight about some of the rumours - that the sketch is based on a 'missing script' about Del's 65th birthday, that it's a trailer for a new episode, that we're writing a new series etc. None of it is true."

Boy bands, as it turns out, do not exist for the sole purpose of making teenage girls hot and bothered. A new collaboration between five of most popular young male YouTubers has resulted in the formation of an all new boy band to raise money for the Sport Relief charity. The five participating YouTubers are Marcus Butler, Caspar Lee, Alfie Deyes, Joe Sugg, and Jim Chapman. All five of them have more than one million subscribers, and their combined subscriber count is close to 9.2 million. Therefore, calling them The YouTube Boy Band--as their video title does--is accurate. Their video is at once both a crooning song-and-dance number and a mockery of other, more serious boy bands. Through the video, the YouTube Boy Band is raising money for Sport Relief, an offshoot of Britain's well-known Comic Relief charity. A link in the description urges viewers to donate. David Beckham can ''die a happy man'' after shooting a sketch for 'Only Fools and Horses'. The retired soccer player is set to star alongside Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst in a one-off special of the classic sitcom - which ran on BBC One from 1981 and 2003 - for the Sport Relief charity, and he says it was surreal to be on set with Del Boy and Rodney having grown up watching the show. David gushed to Radio Times magazine: ''I can die a happy man after these two days [of filming]. I think that what it's really about is...

Sport Relief's Top Dog, honestly, was always going to be up our street. As the sort of people who still mourn Pets Win Prizes, the chance to see a bunch of canine companions having a go at various games was something that we were instantly on board with.
Of course, it's a plus that it's all for charity, but we'd watch this show even if it had nothing to do with Sport Relief. Not that it's a good show. Honestly, it's kind of shambolic. The set is a very shiny floor, with the BBC surely blowing its sparkle budget for the year on episode one. Gaby Roslin can barely hold it together when she tries to shout the game instructions over dogs barking. The phrase "on your barks, get set, go" is used.
So yes. It's kind of terrible. But we don't care, because it is so much fun.

David Beckham is going to launch his TV presenting career on BBC One, according to the channel's controller Charlotte Moore.
Speaking to The Sunday Times about her plans for the channel, Moore said that the former England football captain was working on a programme for the broadcaster.
Moore didn't give details about the show, but said that it wouldn't be about football.
The newspaper report speculates that the programme could be about fatherhood or modelling.
Beckham retired from all forms of football in 2013, but recently returned to the game as the owner of a new Major League Soccer franchise in Miami.
His post-football career has so far been dominated by charity work and modelling.
Beckham will appear on the BBC in a TV cameo for Sport Relief later this month, when he teams up with Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst in a special Only Fools and Horses sketch.
