The Taylor Sheridan series has been one of the most successful projects from the Yellowstone creator that does not feature the Dutton Family. With a second season greenlit almost as soon as the first episode debuted, everyone has been wondering what is coming from the show’s sophomore run. So, let’s dive in and take a look at what Sylvester Stallone and his crime crew will be coming up with this year.
Who is running the show (literally)?
The first season of Tulsa King was overseen by Terence Winter, best known as the creator of Boardwalk Empire and a main writer and executive producer on The Sopranos. Do you know who is no longer welcome? Stacy, that's who.
What a hair-brained move to make on her part.
Does she even like working for the Atf? She's never given the impression it was her passion.
Tulsa King Season 1 Episode 9 found Dwight ensuring that he didn't repeat past mistakes, creating his own family, and wiping away the sins of the past.
To do that successfully, Dwight had to commit a few more sins.
Instead of locking him up, the Atf and the FBI should be thanking Dwight Manfredi. He and his people ended a reign of terror they'd been aching to squash but never managed to achieve.
Stacy couldn't do much of anything, but she had no problem at all tossing the only person who wouldn't have ever betrayed her under the bus.
Now, I kind of wish her injuries had been more severe. Who's with me?

There was no way this could have been a one-season show.
Tulsa King Season 1 Episode 8 offers more of what we've come to expect -- moving chess pieces around on a board while we wait for something to happen.
So far, Tulsa King has been a lot more buildup than actual storytelling.
We get one step forward and two back every episode.
Dwight is out of prison and building a new life away from the mob he still serves, but he can't quite sever the ties.
It's not as if he's got any loyalty left for the organization that saw fit to let him rot in prison for 25 years only to banish him to Tulsa as payback.
Things didn't go well during his visit to New York, and he'd just as soon have his family relocate with him than return.
We assume he's still sending money back to the gang, but...

You know you're a success when someone feels the need to squash you like a bug.
By the end of Tulsa King Season 1 Episode 7, Dwight has two hits out on him, but we're not worried.
Dwight has the magic touch, and it's his enemies who should reconsider, not The General.
Merry Christmas, everyone! What a way to spend the holiday, am I right?
Blood is being spilled all over the darn place, and something tells me it's going to get a lot worse before it's all over.
Mitch helped Dwight bury Carson Pike's body, but not before they robbed him of his club jacket, which served as a warning to the Black McAdams.
Mitch: Is this a one-off or one of many?
Dwight: Too soon to tell.

Photo: ‘The Greatest Beer Run Ever’ A wild story Peter Farrelly’s follow-up to the massively successful and vastly overrated ‘Green Book’ is a film about a man who travels to Vietnam during the Vietnam War to bring his friends' beer as a sign of support. Based on a true story titled ‘The Greatest Beer Run Ever,’ the film stars Zac Efron in the lead role as Chickie. Other prominent players in the film include Bill Murray and Russell Crowe. The synopsis of the film is one that is sure to turn heads as it seems overblown and ridiculous, however, the fact that it is based on a true story does anchor the plot somewhat and adds a much-needed note of believability to the film. Chickie is a proud patriot, supportive of the war in Vietnam. But upon seeing demonstrations against the war and Lbj, along with the media’s negative portrayal of the war,...

Sometimes, I worry that the age of social media will distort our collective memory, with conspiracy theories and "fake news" narratives twisting our sense of reality to the point where we can no longer recognize history. And after watching "The Greatest Beer Run Ever," I fear this has already happened.
"The Greatest Beer Run Ever," which premiered at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, is a movie that dares to ask: was the Vietnam War ... a bad thing? Over a two-hour run-time, the film follows the lovable, simple-minded John "Chickie" Donohue (Zac Efron) as he travels to Vietnam to bring beers to the troops, hoping his friendly gesture will help boost morale. Chickie, like the rest of his neighborhood buddies, believes "their boys" are "saving the world," and that the journalists documenting the war and the protestors demonstrating for peace are all entitled jerks who don't appreciate freedom. But ho! When...

“The Greatest Beer Run Ever” tells the (based-on-a) true story of a man who went to Vietnam during the war just to bring beer to his enlisted friends. Director and co-writer Peter Farrelly started working on the film before his Oscar-winning drama “Green Book” finished its awards lap in 2019.
“Somebody sent me a 12-minute documentary that Andrew Muscato did about the greatest beer run ever, and I just couldn’t believe what I was looking at, that this guy actually went to Vietnam during the war, somehow found his way around the country and dropped off beers with people and happened to get there right before the Tet Offensive. I was like, ‘That’s unbelievable,'” he told TheWrap’s Brian Welk after the movie’s world premiere on Sept. 13 at the Toronto film festival.

Chickie Donahue (Zac Efron) is already deep in his self-appointed wartime mission when someone finally calls it what it really is: “the dumbest thing I ever heard.” By then, the part-time merchant marine and full-time screw-up is already in the middle of Vietnam and its war. The next step is embracing the idiocy of what’s he done while coming out of the whole damn thing alive.
Peter Farrelly’s “The Greatest Beer Run Ever” is his first film since he won Best Picture for “Green Book,” a film embraced by audiences and maligned by critics. This one hits many of the same beats as that divisive feature, though with a lighter touch that strives more boldly to marry his comedic sensibilities and the reality of a painful history.

When filmmaker Peter Farrelly last attended the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018, his feel-good message movie Green Book would take home the festival’s People’s Choice award and go on to win three Oscars, including Best Picture.
It’s unlikely that lightning will be striking twice with his latest effort, The Greatest Beer Run Ever, which sees fit to address America’s involvement in the Vietnam War much in the same manner his previous film tackled the subject of race relations.
Inspired by the unlikely but true story of a working class New York Merchant Marine who boarded a ship bound for Saigon in 1967 with the sole intention of bringing his deployed buddies beer in order to lift their spirits, the new project, which arrives on Apple TV+ at the end of this month, admittedly holds some audience-pleasing potential. Film-festival awards don’t usually have much lasting impact, but four years ago, when “Green Book” played at the Toronto International Film Festival and won the People’s Choice Award, it had a seismic effect. It set the film on what would become its road to Oscar glory. Since that turned out to be a very bumpy road, with many critics dumping on the film for what they perceived to be its outdated liberal race consciousness (not me — I thought “Green Book” was terrific), the Toronto award kept coming back into the conversation. It was used to signify the nature of the movie’s appeal — namely, that maybe this wasn’t a film destined to be embraced by the most elite levels of the establishment, but that it was one “the people” went for. And that’s just what ended up happening.

Watching Peter Farrelly’s new film, The Greatest Beer Run Ever, and knowing little about it going in, I kept thinking this would be a totally absurd, beyond belief story if it isn’t one that really happened. By the end I saw it is indeed 100 true, proving life can sometimes be stranger than fiction. As such it turns out to be one of the more memorable, and certainly heartfelt movies this year, as well as a Vietnam War movie that couldn’t be further from The Deer Hunter, Platoon, and Apocalypse Now, but a character-driven drama that defies logic but makes you believe once again in the power of the human spirit. This is the rare Vietnam film seen from the Pov of a civilian, a key reason it works as well as it does.

When Peter Farrelly’s “The Greatest Beer Run Ever” was announced for the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, there was never much question when it would screen. Even though the prestige slots at TIFF are on the first weekend, “Beer Run” would be a Tuesday night film, because that’s the same stealth slot that Farrelly’s precious film, “Green Book,” took when it premiered at the festival five years ago on its way to winning the TIFF audience award and the Oscar for Best Picture.
And “The Greatest Beer Run Ever,” which had its debut at Roy Thomson Hall on Tuesday, is like Farrelly’s last film in more ways than the choice of venue and day. The director once known for slapstick comedies like “Dumb and Dumber” and “There’s Something About Mary” seems to have a new specialty: movies based on stranger-than-fiction true stories about working class, salt-of-the-earth guys...

After gaining fame for anarchic, hilariously dumb movies like the appropriately titled "Dumb and Dumber," and participating in the horrendously bad "Movie 43," Peter Farrelly shocked audiences everywhere when he made a film the Academy deemed Oscar-worthy and not just a racist dramedy.
But how do you follow "Green Book"? Why, with an absurdist war drama with a great cast, of course! "The Greatest Beer Run Ever" is, like its predecessor, based on a true story, and it stars Zac Efron's John "Chickie" Donohue. In 1967, Chickie dared travel to Vietnam in the middle of the war to deliver beers to the troops. Not all troops, mind you, but specifically the kids from his neighborhood, who are spread out across the country. Along the way he will probably learn a few lessons, and evade lots of bullets.

Per an official synopsis, however, what started as a well-meaning journey quickly turns into the adventure of a lifetime as Chickie confronts the reality of this controversial war and his reunions with his childhood buddies thrust him into the complexities and responsibilities of adulthood. The film is based on the 2020 book “The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A Memoir of Friendship, Loyalty and War” by Joanna Molloy and John “Chickie” Donohue.
