The CW has officially canceled Walker, the release of the fourth season of which is now in full swing and the final episode of the project will be released on June 26.

There is lots of news dribbling out of Netflix today.
While we don’t have many details, we might as well get the discussion started.
Here’s what we’ve got.
Adam Sandler Revives Happy Gilmore
For fans of Adam Sandler, the movie Happy Gilmore might be one of his greatest achievements.
Golfers rarely get the movie star treatment despite the amount of money that goes to the winners, but this 1996 movie uses adversity to push him toward the big prize.
Today, Netflix announced that they’d be reviving Mr. Gilmore, but little else is known.
Should some of Happy’s old rivals return?
Christopher McDonald played Happy’s rival Shooter McGavin, and he mentioned the project in March.
Whether that means he’ll be along for the ride remains to be seen.
Golf Starring Will Ferrell Greenlit
Timing is everything!

Like many productions last year, Severance season 2 was brought to a halt due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, but Ben Stiller took to X this morning to announce that filming has finally resumed.
Back to work. #Severance https://t.co/3uh8ZEXJJL
— Ben Stiller (@BenStiller) January 29, 2024
Severance stars Adam Scott as Mark Scout, who leads a team at Lumon Industries “whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in ‘work-life balance’ is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself.”
Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, Tramell Tillman, Michael Chernus, and Christopher Walken have all returned for the new season, with a few new additions as well.

The Queen’s Gambit became one of Netflix’s biggest limited-series upon its release, so naturally, there was talk of a second season almost immediately. Anya Taylor-Joy, who starred in the series, got fans talking earlier today when she tweeted: “The Queen’s Gambit season 2,” but the post was taken down after ten minutes and the actress confirmed on Instagram that she had been hacked.
For those ten minutes, fans were excited about entering the world of chess once again, but it seems that The Queen’s Gambit won’t be returning for a second season. “My Twitter has been hacked,” Anya Taylor-Joy wrote on Instagram. “Apologies for all inconveniences. It’s not me!” Based on the 1983 novel of the same name by Walter Tevis, The Queen’s Gambit followed Elizabeth Harmon, an orphaned chess prodigy who becomes an elite player while struggling with emotional problems, drugs, and alcohol dependency. Beth is an underdog who faces addiction, loss and abandonment. Her success – against the odds- speaks to the importance of perseverance, family, and finding, and staying true to,...

In the great 1993 chess movie Searching for Bobby Fischer, elementary-school-age prodigy Josh finds himself caught between two mentors: Bruce Pandolfini, an aloof master of the game who favors a slow and risk-averse approach to the board, and Vinnie, who hustles tourists in the park and is always encouraging Josh to play as swiftly and boldly as he can.
The real Bruce Pandolfini was one of the technical advisors for The Queen’s Gambit, a new miniseries about a female chess genius coming of age against the backdrop of the Cold War.

Since the first sinister trailer for Antonio Campos’ adaptation of Donald Ray Pollock’s novel The Devil All the Time arrived, the film has caused quite a buzz. This is the latest Netflix original to land, a pitch black drama set in the Ohio town of Knockemstiff where the corrupt and the lost intertwine in a mix of horror and tragedy. One of the standouts from the trailer is the incredible A-list cast brought together for this ensemble piece. Robert Pattinson plays a predator preacher, Bill Skarsgard a damaged war veteran, Sebastian Stan a dirty cop and Jason Clarke and Riley Keough husband and wife serial killers.
“I wasn’t like Nick Fury showing up,” laughs Campos when he chats to us about building his cast. “It’s a very long drawn out process.” Though he has two actual Avengers in his line up, this is a portrait of villains...

Kød & Blod
Denmark’s Jeannette Nordahl makes her debut with crime thriller Kød & Blod (Wildland), headlined by esteemed actress Sidse Babett Knudsen. She’s joined by Elliott Crosset Hove (Best Actor from Locarno 2017 for Winter Brothers) and Carla Philip Roder. Nordahl’s debut (which sort of looks like an Animal Kingdom-esque package) is produced by Eva Jakobsen (Thelma; Valhalla Rising), Mikkel Jersin (Thelma; The Untamed) and Katrin Pors (Thelma; Godless; Birds of Passage; The Untamed). The project is lensed by David Gallego (Embrace of the Serpent; Birds of Passage).…...

FX has filled out the ensemble for its upcoming limited series Mrs. America, and it’s straight out of the Prestige TV playbook.
Sarah Paulson, James Marsden and Uzo Aduba are among 11 additions to the drama, which will star Oscar winner Cate Blanchett. Mrs. America tells the story of the movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (Era) and the unexpected backlash led by a conservative woman named Phyllis Schlafly (Blanchett).
Through the eyes of the women of that era, Mrs. America “explores how one of the toughest battlegrounds in the culture wars of the ’70s helped give rise to...

Strong performances do their best to overcome a weak script and a long runtime in Netflix's Private Life.
Kathryn Hahn shines in this quirky, realistic trip through the indignities of infertility as a prism for examining the choices women have to make across their lives. Inspired by Oscar-nominated writer/director Tamara Jenkins's (The Savages) own struggle to have a child, it gets that exhausting, humiliating experience unflinchingly right. But an overly long runtime and a script that seems satisfied with leaving much of the emotional dynamics unexamined hamper the film overall, leaving it to succeed almost entirely on the likeable and winning performances and the fact of a surprisingly frank take on the subject.
Rachel (Hahn) and Richard are 40-something artists living in New York City and trying to have a kid. Adoption, Iui’s, IVF, they have – and in some cases, are still – trying it all. Emotionally and financially drained,...

Turns out going with two hosts instead of one did not double the fun at the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards tonight. Fronted by Saturday Night Live’s Michael Che and Colin Jost and executive produced by Lorne Michaels, this year’s celebration of television’s best and brightest quickly became mired in some of the worst tendencies of the long-running weekly variety show.
With Michaels back running the small-screen ceremony for the first time in 30 years, there was nothing as ill-considered as pink-slipped White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer’s toxic cameo on the 69th Primetime Emmys, yet the best moment of the NBC-broadcasted shindig Monday at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles was entirely unscripted. When Best Directing for a Variety Special winner Glenn Weiss proposed to his longtime girlfriend Jan Svendsen live onstage, there was not an unmoved heart in the house. Sadly, that genuine expression...

Godless marks Scott Frank’s first foray into the western genre. One could argue that his screenplay for Logan was western-adjacent, but Godless is a tried and true western complete with outlaws, gunfights, a town tragedy, a drifter and horses — an animal that executive producer Steven Soderbergh fears.
Created and written by Frank, the seven-part limited series — which was originally conceived as a feature film — reunites the Out of Sight writer with director Soderbergh and executive producer Casey Silver. Hitting the beats of a traditional western, Godless follows criminal Frank Griffin (Jeff Daniels) and his gang of menacing outlaws as they set out on a mission of revenge against Roy Goode (Jack O’Connell), a son-like protégé who betrayed them. While on the Run from Frank and his goons, Roy finds refuge with tough-as-nails Alice Fletcher (Michelle Dockery) in the isolated mining town of La Belle which is populated by mostly women.

Toni Collette (United States of Tara), Merritt Wever (Godless) and Kaitlyn Dever (Last Man Standing) have been cast in Unbelievable, an eight-episode Netflix limited series from Erin Brockovich writer Susannah Grant, CBS TV Studios, studio-based producers Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly and Katie Couric. In addition, Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids Are All Right) is set to direct and executive produce the first three episodes.
Co-written by Grant, who will serve as showrunner, Michael Chabon (John Carter) & Ayelet Waldman (Applebaum), Unbelievable is based on The Marshall Project and ProPublica Pulitzer Prize-winning December 2015 article, “An Unbelievable Story of Rape,” written by T. Alexander Skarsgård is the winner for outstanding performance by a male actor in a television movie or limited series.
On Sunday night at the 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, the star earned his first-ever acting trophy for his performance in Big Little Lies. Taking the stage to accept the award, Skarsgård said he was “shocked” and “humbled” “embarrassed” and “infinitely grateful.”
The actor — who played Perry Wright, the abusive husband of Nicole Kidman‘s Celeste Wright — also used the opportunity to joke, saying sarcastically, “Yeah, that makes sense.”

Minor Spoilers
At a pivotal juncture during the Fathers & Sons episode of Godless (2017), the camera tracks into a pink ribbon tied on the back of young woman’s hair; a woman who is suffering from the onset symptoms of smallpox and unlikely to find recovery. Later in the episode we pan across dozens of freshly dug but unnamed graves each with it’s own crucifix. We don’t see the woman again, but on one of the crucifixes is tied a pink ribbon. Such is the power of even the slightest costume and accessory details in Godless, the narrative is informed by their very presence.
Costume designer for Godless was Betsy Heimann. Perhaps best known for costuming Reservoir Dogs (1992), Pulp Fiction (1994) and Almost Famous (2000), she is extremely well respected in the industry. Godless is some of Heimann’s most complete work yet. The western era in question, 1884 in Colorado, is well documented historically.
