NBC is tailoring its new drama pilot for Suits L.A., with Stephen Amell leading the extension of the Suits universe. The off-shoot hails from Aaron Korsh, the creator and writer of the original Suits series. Cameras roll in March in Vancouver, with fans already excited about returning to the Suits universe with a different fit.
Amell joins the pilot as Ted Black, “a former federal prosecutor from New York who has reinvented himself by representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel...

This time last year, the Suits franchise was dead and buried, and now we've got a lead star who can potentially draw viewers to the LA spinoff coming to NBC!
Now, thanks to the power of streaming, everyone's talking about the original series again.
The legal drama broke countless Nielsen streaming records earlier this year, leading to renewed interest in the property.
With a new series set in the Suits universe officially announced, details are beginning to trickle out.
Below, we've rounded up everything we know about the project.
Does the Suits Spinoff Have a Title?
Details were scarce when the series was announced to be in development in mid-2023.
Suits Cast: Where Are They Now?
A title was not revealed, but we learned in November 2023 that the series is known as Suits L.A. behind the scenes. It seems like that's the direction that will continue as of the pilot order.

There are some big changes at Starz, and it's bad news for four shows.
Variety reported Monday evening that the premium cabler has canceled Heels, Run the World, and Blindspotting and is scrapping The Venery of Samantha Bird ahead of its premiere.
Heels, Run the World, and Blindspotting lasted for two seasons on the premium cabler, but it seems that the trio didn't have enough interest to sustain additional seasons.
The highest profile of the three shows was Heels, which starred Stephen Amell as Jack Spade, a man who inherited the league from his father.
However, he struggled to keep things running well, leading to plenty of drama across the two seasons.
The cast also included Alexander Ludwig, Chris Bauer, Mary McCormack, Kelli Berglund, Allen Maldonado, and Trey Tucker.
Rounding out the cast were Robby Ramos, Alice Barrett Mitchell, Roxton Garcia, David James Elliott, Joel Murray, and Cm Punk.

Starz is cleaning house: The pay-cable network has cancelled three series, dropping the axe on sophomore shows Heels, Run the World and Blindspotting, our sister site Variety reports. In addition, the network has scrapped plans for The Venery of Samantha Bird, which was in development.
Heels starred Arrow alum Stephen Amell as Jack Spade, a pro wrestler competing alongside his younger brother Ace (Alexander Ludwig). Season 2 saw Jack and Ace “continue to fight over their late father’s legacy and their individual versions of success, while also working to find their own identity as a ‘face’ or a ‘heel,’” per the official synopsis.

Starz is canceling four of its series, Variety has learned exclusively. Specifically, “Heels,” “Run the World,” and “Blindspotting” will not get new seasons at the cable network, while “The Venery of Samantha Bird” Season 1 is being scrapped without airing.
“Heels,” “Run the World,” and “Blindspotting” all recently aired their second season at Starz, while “The Venery of Samantha Bird” was in production on its first season. Production was shut down, however, at the onset of the WGA strike. It was reported at the time that only two episodes of the first season were left to shoot.
“The Venery of Samantha Bird” was to star Katherine Langford as the title character. Per the official logline, “Samantha, while visiting family in New England, reconnects with her childhood sweetheart and falls headlong into a seemingly perfect storybook romance. But the couple’s picture-perfect love story isn’t as sweet as it seems on the surface.

We’re halfway through September, which means the most entertaining show on TV is back: Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show.”
The Emmy-winning drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon returned this week for its 10-episode third season, which picks up two years after the events of the Season 2 finale. Naturally, this means big changes are happening, not just at the fictional network within the show, which is struggling after launching a streaming service right as the pandemic hit the U.S. (the series loves its “ripped-from-the-headlines” approach to storytelling), but for the actual show as well. Emmy winner Jon Hamm joins the cast as tech billionaire Paul Marks, who takes an interest in Uba (and perhaps a little bit more), while Nicole Beharie portrays new “Morning Show” anchor Chris Hunter. The first two episodes are currently streaming on Apple TV+, and with so much drama already beginning to unfold,...

Super excited to announce that the wrestling drama Heels is coming to Starz on August 15th. Heels is set in a close knit Georgia community. The actor just revealed on October 20 that he had recently contracted Covid-19. Amell told Michael Rosenbaum of his experience on Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast, which was recorded a week before its October 27 release. Amell told listeners about his...

Stephen Amell may have shelved his bow and quiver, having retired from his Star City vigilantism on The CW’s Arrow this past January, but there’s plenty of hard-hitting small screen violence in his future when he headlines Starz’s professional wrestling series, Heels. Indeed, updates from the star—along with casting news—seem to indicate that said series is finally moving things along.
With Amell set to star as struggling wrestling promoter Jack Spade, who doubles as an in-ring competitor, the star clearly needs to maintain his famously impressive Arrow physical conditioning for the new series. Yet, the ubiquitous threat of the pandemic resulted in a lengthy stasis for the project, which Starz initially ordered to series back in August 2019—well before Arrow wrapped. However, the past few days have yielded welcome signs of life for Heels, starting with a tweet from Amell teasing Day 1 at the plot-pertinent...

Mary McCormack is returning to the small screen.
Starz today announced the beloved actress has been cast in the role of Willie in the series Heels.
McCormack’s character is the business partner of Jack Spade (played by Stephen Amell in the series) and logistical brains behind the local wrestling organization who came up in the glory days as Wild Bill’s (Chris Bauer) valet, but grew tired of babysitting and left him just as his career took off.
His return to the local circuit complicates her life, as does the reflection of her younger self that she sees in Crystal (Kelli Berglund).
McCormack is widely known for her four seasons as a regular cast member of The West Wing, as the lead of the critically acclaimed In Plain Sight and for her role opposite Howard Stern in Private Parts.

Starz’s upcoming wrestling drama series “Heels” has added “In Plain Sight” star Mary McCormack to its cast, TheWrap has confirmed.
McCormack will star opposite “Arrow” alum Stephen Amell and “Vikings” star Alexander Ludwig in the eight-episode series.
The show is described as an hourlong drama about “the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small town pro wrestling,” according to Starz. “Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.”

Arrow’s Stephen Amell trades the streets of Star City for the squared circle, headlining Starz’s wrestling drama series, titled Heels.
Heels is an inside jargon term within the professional wrestling industry referring to the role of villainous wrestlers, whose jobs are to generate “heat” amongst the audience, getting people behind the heroic “babyface” wrestler. Yet, it’s a concept to which Stephen Amell, the former heroic defender of Arrow’s Star City, will soon become associated, thanks to a Starz television series.
Starz gave an eight-episode order for an hourlong wrestling-centric drama, called Heels, back in August 2019, setting up the next television platform for Amell, who has completed a defining eight-season starring run on The CW’s Arrow, and has long been associated with wrestling, having participated in it sporadically, utilizing his now-legendary training.
