10/10
Undoubtedly the best musical of its time and Judy's career
13 February 2002
This movie definitely deserved a 10/10. It was one of Judy Garland's finest musicals ever. She really shines. The music, especially "The Man That Got Away" is wonderful. This movie is dramatic, beautiful, funny, and heartbreaking. You see Esther Blodgett, a young woman who's bound to be a starlet. She then finds an alcoholic self-destructive actor Norman Maine and saves him from embaressing himself on public television in one of the cutest and funniest scenes on film. She falls in love with him, gets her job, and everything goes all right...For awhile at least. It is then that she becomes a bigger star than her husband who is nursing a jealous wound. And the rest is history. Words can't describe my respect for this movie. It's wonderful! If you like musicals or Judy Garland it is a must see.
