Melodramatic to an extreme!
15 October 1999
Warning: Spoilers
Pablo a successful writer and film producer moves in a world of alcohol, sex and drugs. When Juan his young homosexual friend leaves for a job in a coastal town, Antonio a model in search of film roles moves into Pablo's life. The story then concentrates on a melodramatic love triangle of three gay men. The sex episodes are quite erotic and even a light-house stands tall like a phallic symbol in one particular scene. Amongst all the melodrama, I like a short scene where Pablo is at the typewriter with musical accompaniment. After Juan is murdered, the story skips from scene to scene with ever increasing melodramatic intensity. Pablo's sister Tina provides further complications to their relationship when she reveals that she was once a boy but had a sex-change and then had an affair with their father. It's so outrageous, it leaves one weak, but there's even more to follow in the final scenes. Impossible? Certainly. Entertaining? You bet! But you'll soon forget this film.
