If you've read or seen the romantic drama -Like Water for Chocolate-, you'll immediately see the tie between food and emotion which play a large part of both plots. Having had no exposure to the plot before viewing, I became curious whether the writers were trying to create a more modern version of the Mexican story.
I felt it was a "pretty good flick" - not one that challenged me in any way, but an enjoyable way to spend an hour and a half. It has a little bit of magic, and a lot of chuckles- without being -too- trite.
