If you are familiar with political philosophy, history and rhetoric you will appreciate the Emperor's Club more than the average movie-goer. Unfortunately, it lacks strong female characters - where is our Cleopatra, our Hypathia, our intelligent women who were solid and outspoken? They historically exist, but remain buried for all the intents and purposes of this film.
