Why is it that Ice Cube - a rapper for cryin' out loud - knows more about entertaining people than the numerous whitebread Hollywood producers in and out of the studios?
It was so much fun to go to a film where the audience laughed out loud throughout the movie. Big group belly laughs. The story line was a little onthe predictable side, but not the jokes. The irreverent, stream of consience takes from Cedric The Entertainer were sooooo refreshing - a discussion of the history of racial politics that wasn't Larry Elder BS self hate nor the usual safe liberal claptrap - great, just great. makes you wonder why Sundance films play things so safe - and they do!!!!
One more thing. The trailers I saw for the the newest slate of studio films elicited the usual bored silence and unintended laughter - with one exception - the next Friday movie which looked great - you go Ice Cube!!!!
