Sweet countess.
11 September 2003
In the first half of the sixties,Claude Santelli adapted a lot of books for young people.Among them,he favored the comtesse de Ségur whose best works he took to the TV screen ."L'auberge de l'ange gardien" is the first of two volumes ,the second being "le général Dourakine" ,a character featured here.

Directing and sets are minimal, but acting is convincing, particularly MIchel Galabru as Dourakine and Jacques Dufilho as the villain.Anyway it was called "théâtre pour la jeunesse" ,and it's closer to theater than to cinema. The script enhances the countess's humor(sometimes very witty) and spares us her bigotry ,her devoutness which are unbearable in big doses. And the galettes look so delicious we would like to taste them.
