Say whatever you want about the "spirit of good american competition" portrayed in this doc, it's still a movie about a spelling bee. I failed to find anything insightful, inspiring or even entertaining minus one spastically ADD spell freak- who speaks binary and makes hilarous facial expressions, this is accomplished while trying to stay focused long enough to spell 25 letter words. I had heard great things so I expected to see something groundbreaking or even interesting, instead I got a whole movie "ABOUT A SPELLING BEE!?" Spellbound resembled something more akin to a long episode of mtv's "true life" than an errol morris work -granted I'm being extra harsh cuz everyone said it was so great.
