Warning: Spoilers
This is not a reflection of the emigrant experience in England. I found so many plot holes that I could have made a colander. *****SPOILER WARNING**** Only the heart was flushed down the toilet? Where did the rest of the body go? Why the heart? Senay goes from not even wanting the guy to sleep on her couch to wanting to live with him? I did not see the transition of feelings here? And how on earth did Senay propose to get into the U.S. with a British passport, did she not need a visa? And even though his wife is dead Okwe wants nothing to do with Senay romantically? And going back to Nigeria under a false passport is going to allow him to now be a father to his daughter? And finally, there were more but I have forgotten, the whore with the heart of gold, how original is that plot device???!!!*****END OF SPOILERS***** This movie was highly recommended to me. I went in with the expectation of being entertained but within about five minutes I was just annoyed at all the contrivances. The black and white characters, no grey shadings whatsoever. And the ending, as if he didn't know what to do with the loose bits. I thought there'd be a death but I was disappointed. 5 out of 10. A waste of time.
