Review of Main Hoon Na

Main Hoon Na (2004)
7/10
A nice surprise
8 July 2005
This was the first Bollywood film I ever saw. To be honest, I had some very hard prejudices against Bollywood films. Partly because I had heard bad things about them and partly because I had only been watching Hollywood movies before. After a friend of mine visited India and bought this film, we decided to watch it. After an hour or so I was excited, it was very good! The rest of the film went by too, but in the end I was beginning to get frustrated by the singing and cheesy action parts. But all in all, an entertaining movie. Okay, yes, the plot is full of clichés and it was prolonged beyond boredom but still. It is a good starter for people who have been watching Hollywood films for all of their lives and are now trying out Bollywood-stuff. The singing stuff in between still sucks but rest was all good. The movie includes some very good acting work, most notably Lakshman (Zayed Khan) and Ram (Shahrukh Khan). There is a bit of over-acting in it as well. Dance choreography is good (like in all Indian music videos).
