What's known as a misfire...
5 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
How could they have possibly gone wrong? I mean, we're talking El Santo AND Blue Demon in a tag-team tussle with Dracula and The Wolf Man... Sit back and watch the fireworks, right...? Think again. Although Dracula employs a number of vampire slaves, and The Wolf Man travels with a pack of lycanthropes at his beck and call, neither nasty proves much of a challenge (either alone or together) to our heroes. The one and only real brawl takes place near the end of the movie, but it's so poorly handled that it amounts to next to nothing. (And the opening and closing wrestling bouts, clearly shot on an abandoned soundstage against a less-than-realistic backdrop, are more than a little strange: an announcer makes a point of mentioning the huge number of fans in attendance at these two bouts, yet we can clearly see that there ARE no spectators on hand! Surreal, to say the least...)
