Review of Rob Reiner

Saturday Night Live: Rob Reiner (1975)
Season 1, Episode 3
7/10
Headmaster Garrett Morris
13 February 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Rob Reiner at his height as Meathead on All In The Family hosts with his wife, Penny Marshall (previous to Laverne & Shirley). There is no musical guest, & Reiner starts the show doing his imitation of a Lounge Lizard singer wearing a massive wig.

The week-end update features the first Garrett Morris Headmaster of the Hard of Hearing shouting "Our Top Story Tonight" which would become a regular routine of SNL for a long time. John Belushi does a musical sequence which is a preview of the physical comedy that he would do in Animal House, but is not as effective here as he would be later in the movie.

These are simpler times with simpler humor which today would not make it, but back in this era, this carried the day for NBC. The talent of the cast & the freshness of the format is why it was so popular. Don Pardo does a game show humor take off as a highlight of this show.

Albert Brooks lives his dream of performing Heart Surgery & The Muppets continue their series in the land of Henson.
