Both The Lead & Supporting Cast Do Well

A melodramatic suspense story is about a gunslinger who comes back to this small town to get back his ex-wife. They had separated and then she re-married but he still had the hots for her. Then he finds out they have a son, one he didn't know about......and a nice kid, to boot. Now, the gunslinger - who is actually portrayed as a nice guy early in the show - wants both the woman and the kid. The obstacle: the man she re-married is the town marshal.

When the you-know-what-hits-the-fan and everyone is aware of what's going on, including the kid, things begin to happen.

Three known movie actors have the three leads: John Ireland as the marshal; Stephen McNally as the gunslinger and Audrey Totter as the wife and former wife! I loved the subtle expressions of surprise on McNally's face a handful of times in this story. He was great to watch.

Jimmy Baird plays the kid. He reminded me of Bobby Driscoll, looking and sounding similar to the latter in the 1948 film noir, "The Window." Ralph Moody is interesting, too, in a supporting role. Moody acted right up to the day he died, at the age of 85. He was about 60 when he played this role, as a friend of the gunslinger..

Overall, a good episode plus the usual interesting introduction by host Dick Powell, who shows the different kinds of tricks gunslingers used "back in the day."
