Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the world!

Oh, how many versions of this story have I seen?

I couldn't begin to guess, but this is a version that follows the book, and Seymour Hicks is a realistic interpretation of Scrooge.

There is a lot in this movie that will not be seen in a traditional version, including a rendition of "God Save the Queen."

I liked Oscar Asche as the Ghost of Christmas Present, and the scene with the servants selling his goods as he watched with the Ghost of Christmas Future was the best I have seen.

OK, the technical quality wasn't the best = the lighting was poor sometimes, and there were occasional lapses in the recording, but it still should be affectionately remembered.

Sir Seymour Hicks's Scrooge and Donald Calthorp's Bob Cratchit do Dickens proud.
