This short was nominated for an Academy Award for Animated Short. There will be spoilers ahead:
I'm not sure just who I feel sorrier for-the poor guy who was subjected to an attempted abduction by the incompetent trainee, the incompetent trainee or the long-suffering training instructor. I certainly feel sorry for them all.
The guy being "lifted" has got to be the world's soundest sleeper of all time. If sleeping were an Olympic event, he'd get the gold. The poor trainee can't even remotely buy a clue as to what he's doing. The trainer, meanwhile, almost steals the short just with one look plaster on his face most of the time he's visible.
The short is very funny and there's a beautiful scene showing a master at work toward the end. Make sure you watch all the way through to the end of the credits. It's definitely worth it! This is on DVD on the first Pixar shorts disc and as an extra on one of the Pixar features and is well worth watching. Most recommended.
