Wedding Bells (1924)

The dog's the star
24 November 2014
This short gets off to a slow start with a dumb routine of the doofus Monty Banks (the groom) unable to find the telephone because it's caught on his pants. Oh, OK. Soon thereafter the rather unpleasant and suspicious bride visits the groom. She's mad because he had a bachelor party, she tears up the marriage license. When she finally gets over her snit, here come's the neighbor's girlfriend's dog carrying a woman's shoe. She insists the groom gets rid of the dog, which he tries to do and therein begins the fun. The short finally hits its pace with the dog - an engaging and well trained pit bull who is clearly smarter than the groom. Of course, if he weren't, the film would not be funny or so entertaining. The ending was a bit odd but amusing. A well worth seeing comedy short.
