Warning: Spoilers
I'll always know what you did last summer is about a group of teenagers who sort of accidentally get their friend killed during a 4th of July prank based on the legend of 'the fisherman', I say sort of, because this scenario makes no sense, why anyone would pull a 4th of July prank like this is beyond me, with the hundreds of police officers all around them and all, but these police officers do absolutely nothing anyway so, is there any logic here, no, they friends decide to take their secret to the grave, you know, just like in the first film. I'm gonna assume you've seen the first film and skip forward about an hour, I say this because the plot is the exact same as the first film throughout this stupid thing, nothing changes. At this point things somehow take a turn for the worst, the killer unmasks himself, and it's, it's, a ZOMBIE, yeah, I know what you're thinking, what the heck, the film before this point had at least a shred of credibility, then this happened, and suddenly, you can take it seriously anymore, even though I must admit, the moment is done quite well. The zombie is the legend of Ben Willis, you know, him from the first two films, this also, makes no sense, Ben Willis was never a legend, although it would explain how he kept coming back to life in those films, so for me to believe that this guy who I assume I saw get killed, should come back to life as a zombie, is ridiculous. As for aesthetics, there's nothing to say here either, the actors aren't trying, the director seems to be trying to mix the setting of a horror, comedy and crime-drama all at the same time, sometimes making me check whether I was actually still watching the same movie, and the musical score is unatmospheric and dull, to the point that you won't even notice it's there, the whole thing looks like it was recorded with a calculator as well. The writing seem to be trying to emulate that of the scream trilogy, but is trying to be over-witty, but ends up going the opposite way, not to mention, this film is boring, really boring, even with the zombie reveal which might just get you a bit more interested, the climax consists of people running this way, hit the zombie, run to there, hit the zombie again, run over that way, hit the zombie once again, rinse repeat about a hundred times, boring, Boring, BORING! I got this film for 82p on amazon, and I got two copies, which still feels like too much, unless you're curious, don't even bother, you'll feel ripped off from the very beginning, avoid like the plague!
