On 13 December 1986, we lost a great actress Smita Patil who died due to pregnancy complications. Smita Patil was an actress to reckon with Aakhir Kyun? also stars Rajesh Khanna, Rakesh Roshan and Tina Munim It's a story of women empowerment which was rare in 80s when maardaad was the call of the day. The film is a tearjerker but it's well handled by the director It does suffer from 80s syndrome, melodrama and slow pace at times but that can be avoided. Direction by J.Om Prakash is good Music is superb, Dushman na Kare became famous sung by Lata and Amit Kumar rest songs are all good
Smita Patil steals the show as always, she was one actress who really could play any character. Rajesh Khanna comes in second half and does a good job, thankfully not his usual kinda hamming role. Raakesh Roshan is superb in his evil character, Tina Munim is her usual stern self
